Come Pray The Rosary With Us Every Sunday
9:00 am in the Church.
Come and join us every Sunday to pray the Rosary together. Our Blessed Mother has continually urged us to pray the Rosary so that we can have peace in our world, in our parish, in our homes, and in our hearts. Our Parish Evangelization Team will be organizing and leading the Rosary.
Eucharistic Adoration
Mondays 7:30 pm–8:30 pm (with Benediction) Fridays 8:30 am—9:30 am (after 8:00 am Mass) First Friday 24 Hour Adoration 8:30 am - 8:00 am Saturday
Come join us and spend some quiet time in prayer before the Lord.
From the Desk of Father Ed: Dear Parishioners, We have finally completed our 50-days of the Easter Celebration. The Season of Easter ends with evening prayer on this Sunday, Pentecost Sunday. However, the Easter Season ends with the beginning of the Church, that is, the outpouring of the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity. Jesus kept reminding His Apostles to wait for the promised gift of the Holy Spirit. This Sunday we celebrate the powerful gift given to the Church; the gift that assures us that our Church will always teach the truth in matters of faith and morality and that we can rely on the Church to lead us home. In our Gospel this weekend Jesus breathed new life into His Apostles. He gave them the Spirit of Truth and power to fearlessly proclaim the Good News. Let us pray that our Heavenly Father and His Son will send the Holy Spirit upon us so that we can remain in His Truth and be given the strength to always follow Him.
Parish Life: On Saturday, May 26th Deacon Dulibber will be ordained to the Priesthood at the Cathedral in Paterson at 10:30 am. On Sunday, May 27th Deacon Dulibber will be celebrating His Mass of Thanksgiving here in the parish at 11:00 am with a reception to follow in the pavilion. All are invited to both events. Both Liturgies will be longer than your average Mass times. Ordination Masses and Masses of Thanksgiving are always beautiful and moving liturgies, however, they can be lengthy and sometimes last between 1.5 to 2 hours long so be sure to allow enough time in your schedule. Deacon Dulibber has been with our parish for one year and a summer. Shortly after his ordination he will return to Columbia with his family and then return to the Paterson Diocese at the end of June to begin his new assignment. The Bishop will inform the newly ordained Priests what parish they will be assigned to on the Thursday after Ordination. Please keep Deacon Dulibber and all the men that will be ordained to the Priesthood in your prayers. Be sure to mark you calendars for Sunday, June 3rd, the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the day we celebrate the Body and Blood of Jesus. This year after the 11:00 am Sunday Mass we will have a short procession outside (weather permitting) with the Blessed Sacrament. After the procession there will be a pot-luck luncheon in the pavilion. Be sure to join us. Feel free to bring a dish of food. Our Lady Queen of Peace, pray for us, Father Ed, Pastor
History of the Statue of The Infant Jesus of Prague
The Clouds of War
The statue was set up in the chapel of the monastery, and there twice a day,
special devotions were performed before it. The novices were particularly devoted to the Holy Infant. Their confidence was soon rewarded. That same year (1628) the Emperor sent an unexpected gift of two thousand florins and promised a monthly allowance for their support. Many other spiritual and temporal blessings followed. One of the novices, Brother Cyril of the Mother of God, was immediately delivered from a deep spiritual dryness and depression on praying to the Divine Infant. His devotion to the little King remained throughout his long and holy life. This first outpouring of devotion to the Divine Infant was, however, but short lived. The clouds of war were gathering again, and in 1630 King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden and his Protestant armies threatened the city of Prague. Brother Cyril and his fellow priests, were sent off to Munich for safety. Only two Fathers stayed on, and in the troubled times, devotion to the statue was neglected. On November 15, 1631, the Protestant armies entered Prague and sacked all the religious houses and desecrated all of the churches of the city. The two Carmelite Fathers were imprisoned and their property seized. The church was plundered, and the statue thrown on to a heap of rubbish behind the high altar. The hands were broken, but otherwise it suffered no serious damage. The Little Infant remained in the refuse, mutilated, unhonored, and neglected for seven years.
