From the Desk of Father Ed:

Dear Parishioners, How pleasing it is to parents when their children are obedient. It is a delight for mothers and fathers when their children follow in their good example and work at living a virtuous life. Our Father in Heaven also delights when we His children do His will by choosing good over evil. In our Gospel this weekend Jesus presents to us another parable to help us understand the Kingdom of Heaven. The father in the parable has two sons that he sends into the vineyard to work. The first son immediately says “no” but then later goes and does the will of the father. The second son, at first, says “yes” but then does not carry out the father’s command to work in the vineyard. How dissapointed the father in the parable must have been that one son immediately told him “no” and then later to discover that the other son who said “yes” disobeyed him. The son who later went to work in the vineyard must have brought some comfort to the father’s heart. Jesus, the Only Begotten Son of the Father, He is the one who said “yes” to our Heavenly Father and then carried out His will. He is the one who laid down his life for us so that we could become adopted sons and daughters of the Father. This Sunday we celebrate Respect Life Sunday. We are reminded that all life is a gift from God and that He is the Author of life...not us. All Life is sacred and begins at the moment of conception. In our Gospel this weekend the sons were told to go into the vineyard and do the father’s work. We are reminded of the need to work at building up the Culture or Life by prayer, especially the Rosary, sacrifice, and giving witness to the truth. Let us always be a delight to our Heavenly Father by working at building up His kingdom. Parish Life: Please consider joining us on Wednesday evening in the parish hall at 7:30 pm for a 5-part series course on Moral Theology by Father Anthony Mastroeni. (Class on Oct. 4th is cancelled). Please make an effort to join us at Mass and prayer on the First Friday and First Saturday of the month. Our Lady Queen of Peace, pray for us, Father Ed,

I will establish peace in their homes. I will comfort them in all their afflictions. I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all, in death. I will bestow abundant blessings upon all their undertakings. Sinners will find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy. Lukewarm souls shall become fervent. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection. I will bless every place in which an image of my Heart is exposed and honored. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in my Heart. I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in my disgrace, nor without receiving their sacraments. My divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment."
