* November 17 ~ Thirty-third Sunday of Ordinary Time~As the Liturgical Year draws to a close, the readings have a dark, somewhat frightening tenor about them. But Jesus off ers hope, even amid predictions of “…powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place” and yes, persecution too. This gospel reminds us to pray for victims of natural disasters as well as for those Christians who are being persecuted for their faith. The growing secularization of our culture demands that people of faith be ready to give testimony to the saving message of Jesus Christ. Jesus assures us, “I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.” Trust Jesus, He will give you the wisdom to say what needs to be said.

Jesús nos asegura, “yo os daré palabras y sabiduría a las que no podrá hacer frente ni contradecir ningún adversario vuestro.” confía en el señor, él te dará la sabiduría para que digas lo que necesita ser dicho.

TRIGESIMO TERCER DOMINGO DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO Ciclo C Noviembre 17, 2019

LA ZONA FINAL

“Estas cosas estás contemplando: llegará el día en que no se dejará una piedra sobre otra, pero todo será derribado”. —Lucas 21: 6

Jesús combinó la predicción de la caída de Jerusalén en el año 70 d. C. con la predicción del fi n del mundo. Lo hizo porque habrá marcadas similitudes entre las dos catástrofes. Además, la precisión de Jesús con respecto a la caída de Jerusalén indica la credibilidad de sus revelaciones con respecto al fi n del mundo. Jesús reveló muchos más detalles sobre el fi n del mundo de lo que reveló sobre la mayoría de los otros aspectos de su plan. Hizo esto para subrayar el hecho de que el fi n del mundo es literalmente cierto y para ayudarnos a prepararnos para ello. Jesús nos dio los detalles porque los necesitamos. Uno de los detalles más importantes que Jesús dio sobre el fi n del mundo es: “Con paciencia, salvarán sus vidas” (Lc 21,19). Podemos perseverar a través de la persecución más salvaje de la Iglesia (ver Lc 21:12), a través de la peor apostasía de la historia (2 Tes 2: 3-12), y a través de la peor tribulación (Mc 13:19) porque nosotros aceptamos la gracia de no estar orgullosos sino temer al Señor (Mal. 3: 19-20). Este humilde temor al Señor es el comienzo del amor (ver Dt 6: 2-5). “El amor cubre una multitud de pecados” (1 Pt 4: 8) y nos lleva a través de las calamidades del fi n del mundo hacia un amor perfecto y eterno en el cielo. El mundo ciertamente terminará, como dijo Jesús. Aprende lo que Jesús ha revelado al respecto. Vive y persevera en el amor para vivir para siempre con el Señor. Un Pan, Un Cuerpo

“These things you are contemplating — the day will come when not one stone will be left on another, but it will all be torn down.” —Luke 21:6

Jesus combined predicting the fall of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. with predicting the end of the world. He did this because there will be marked similarities between the two catastrophes. Also, Jesus’ accuracy regarding the fall of Jerusalem indicates the credibility of His revelations regarding the end of the world. Jesus revealed many more details regarding the end of the world than He revealed about most other aspects of His plan. He did this to underline the fact that the end of the world is literally true and to help us prepare for it. Jesus gave us the details because we need them. One of the most important details Jesus gave about the end of the world is: “By patient endurance you will save your lives” (Lk 21:19). We can persevere through the most savage persecution of the Church ever (see Lk 21:12), through the worst apostasy ever (2 Thes 2:3-12), and through the worst tribulation ever (Mk 13:19) because we have accepted the grace not to be proud but to fear the name of the Lord (Mal 3:19-20). This humble fear of the Lord is the beginning of love (see Dt 6:2-5). “Love covers a multitude of sins” (1 Pt 4:8) and leads us through the calamities of the end of the world into perfect, everlasting love in heaven. The world will certainly end, as Jesus said. Learn what Jesus has revealed about it. Live and persevere in love so as to live forever with the Lord. One Bread, One Body
