Easter Message and Greetings from Fr. James He is risen; Alleluia! He is risen Indeed; Alleluia! In the spirit of the season, I sincerely write to wish all Parishioners and family members a very Happy Easter. On every Easter Sunday we are confronted with the rhetorical questions that the women and the disciples who went to the tomb were confronted with. Two men in dazzling apparel initiate contact with the women at the tomb and asked them; “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” (Luke 24:5b). Similarly, at Jesus’ ascension, these two men appeared to the disciples and ask; “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven?” (Acts 1:11). Today, Easter Sunday, we too are confronted with the same questions in response to our secret wondering if Jesus really rose from the dead. The angels message contains the origin of our faith. Jesus is not dead but alive and living. “He is not here, He is risen” (Luke 24:6). We are also told; “Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him” (Mark 16:6–8). I pray that we take the angel's message to heart always, even when we doubt. As we celebrate, let us joyfully sing “Alleluia” to the risen Lord. This day is called the "day of the Lord" because, as the Apostle Paul says; the Risen Christ is the center of the Christian faith, the mystery without which there would be no church, no hope of eternal life, no encounter with Christ in the Eucharistic bread and wine. My prayer for us is that we too may experience the radiance of Christ's resurrection to new life by the power of God and the many blessings of joy that it promises. "The Lord is risen! Alleluia!" He is risen indeed. Alleluia! Sincerely yours in the risen Christ, Fr. James Owolagba
