ON OUR WAY TOGETHER This weekend we end April and move into May, a month to honor Mary each day and hope to feel the warm sun upon us as we begin our spring season. Our Church name tells the world that we are united to Mary in a very special way and we need to always maintain that spiritual relationship with our love, sacrifice, dedication and prayer. The month of May, for me, is the reminder that we are closer to the end of the fiscal year. We have always worked hard together to keep our parish strong and meet our goals. These goals help keep the lights on and our parish vibrant as one year concludes and another begins, hopefully for years and years. This weekend the experience of our children receiving First Holy Communion is a reminder of how necessary it is to maintain our parish for their future. We must continue the struggle for they are all so important. As we approach June we need to finalize our parish billing and also look at the many items that need repair from the winter weather. We have had phones lines damaged, siding damaged, Church Front Gate damage, sewer damage, paint damage, and so much more. We are not in a position to just call and say, “fix it.” We have to pay our other bills and hope that we can fix these items gradually and with the help of our own people. It is a lot but it is for a special place in my mind and I hope in yours too. I am asking everyone to consider “stepping up”
their generosity these next few Sundays in the Parish Collection. Any increase will go a long way and help us and perhaps pay what we owe and have enough to start some repairs. As we age so does our Parish, but that cannot be an excuse to let it stay in disrepair. SO please help me once again and know that Mary, during this special month, will shower us all with her love as we shower her with our support and loving dedication to her church: OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL SOUTH PHILADELPHIA.
