Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time In Jeremiah, God discloses that bad shepherds will be punished and a good shepherd assigned to care for the people. The second reading talks about the peace we have in Jesus Christ. In the Gospel, Jesus insists that the Apostles take time to rest and be rejuvenated, for the need to care for the followers in great.

of Mt. Carmel Today’s readings are about being chosen and sent. The prophet Amos was chosen by the Lord and sent to use his talents for the people of God. The Gospel recounts the story of the sending of the twelve. In the second reading, St. Paul reminds us that we, too, are chosen for what have I been chosen? To whom have I been sent?

Dear Parishioners, On this special day of the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, I am pleased to share with you the first look at the new artwork for the remodeled Church, painted by Leopoldo Cuspinera Madrigal. This has been one of the dreams that I’ve had for many years. To have a painting that reflects Mt. Carmel today. As a result of months of conversations and investigations with the artist, we came to the conclusion with this wonderful piece of art. This artwork is unique and will give us our own identity as Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Houston, Texas. This will integrate in the sanctuary and be placed on the wall behind the Altar and the hanging cross. I would like to invite you to study the painting and discover the wonderful meanings in the art. Queridos feligreses, En este día especial de la Festividad de Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo, me complace compartir con ustedes la primera vista a la nueva obra de arte para la Iglesia remodelada, pintada por Leopoldo Cuspinera Madrigal. Este ha sido uno de los sueños que he tenido durante muchos años. Para tener una pintura que reflejase el Monte Carmelo de hoy. Como resultado de meses de conversaciones e investigaciones con el artista, llegamos a concluir esta maravillosa obra de arte. Coushatta Bus Trip The Archbishop Flores Committee (Knights of Columbus #4577 and Catholic Daughters #1959) is sponsoring a Coushatta bus trip on Saturday, July 21, 2018, to raise funds for our annual dinner-dance on Saturday, December 1, 2018. The recipient from this year's benefit will be Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School. The bus will leave the Knights of Columbus Hall at 6320 Madden Lane at 8:00 AM sharp and return at about 7:30 PM. The cost is $15.00 per person (21 years or older).
