LITURGY CORNERToday we celebrate the Feast of theEpiphany - the coming of the Wise Men(the 3 Kings) to visit the new baby Jesus.(Just a little trivia, the King’s names are:Balthasar, Gaspar and Melchior). This is theday, traditionally, that doorways ofhouses are blessed. The following

prayer may be used to bless your home: When Jesus wasborn of the Blessed Virgin Mary, He made His home with us.We now ask that He will always be welcome to this home ofours, to bless it with His presence. We will now pray silently, for all the good we hope will bless our home this year. MayJesus always be here with us, to strengthen our love for eachother. May Jesus share in our in our joys and comfort us inany of our sorrows. Inspired by Jesus’ teaching and example, may we always seek to make our home a dwelling place of Hislove, keeping away any evil and bringing the goodness ofJesus to all who come and go from our home. Amen(make sure to mark each door - 20 + C + M+ B + 17 - Thisstands for Anno Domini (Year of the Lord) two thousandseventeen Christus Mansionem Benedicat - May Christ Bless

this House.) A person told me about a story that if you hangyour first 3 Kings Christmas card each year above the door andleave it there, you will never want for money. This person saidthat they do it every year and now have multiple cardshanging over their door. Surprisingly enough, they said thateach time finances got tight, someone or something camealong to help them out. (Almost a little like tithing) They’vegrown to believe it is the 3 Kings! So, you might want to hangup your card from this year if you have one. I know I will! May the gift of the 3 Kings and the newborn Savior enrich yourheart and your life this day, and always. Happy Epiphany!

FAITH AT HOMEWe are not alone on our spiritual journey. Allnations move toward God. We seek Jesus notonly with the Wise Men of the East but of the

North and the South and the West as well. Adults: Howdoes my life reflect a true and patient search for theLord? What sacrifices am I ready to make to pursue thissearch? Children: Where can I look for Jesus and findHim? A Family Perspective: The tradition of giving gifts atChristmas is thought by some to be rooted in the giftgiving of the Magi. In many cultures, gifts are notexchanged at Christmas, but rather on the feast of theEpiphany. Whenever you exchange your Christmas gifts, take some time to reflect on this tradition of gift giving atChristmas. Think of the best gift you have received. Whatwas it? What made it special? Was it the gift itself, thethought that went into it or the person who gave it toyou? Read today’s Gospel, Matthew 2:1-12. The gifts ofthe Magi-gold, frankincense and myrrh- have come tobe understood as symbols of Christ’s royalty, divinity andeventual suffering and death. They are special becausein giving them, the Magi acknowledge who Jesus was tobe: our Savior. We pray that we will acknowledge Jesusas Savior in all that we do and say. May you and yourfamily have the wonders and blessing of the Christ child!
