“Thus says the LORD: All you who are thirsty, come to the water! You who have no money, come, receive grain and eat; Come, without paying and without cost, drink
wine and milk!” (Isaiah 55: 1).
Dear Parishioners, I write to you knowing how difficult these times have been for you and your entire families. When I first started to write this letter, they were messages of encouragement and of course they were more abstract. Now I write to you as someone who is already beginning to understand your wants and needs as parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe. I pray that God will continue to walk with us in this pilgrim journey of Faith. In this weekend’s Gospel, we can see how God takes care of his people. I pray that we the Priests of your Parish will try do to the same with the help and grace of God. We can read the feeding in the Gospel in two ways. On the one hand, we can simply take it as a miraculous event, pointing to the divine origins of Jesus. On the other hand, we can see that once the disciples began to share the little food they had with those around, it triggered a similar movement among the crowd, many of whom had actually brought some food with them. When everyone shared, everyone had enough. A picture of the kind of society the Church should stand for. This is what is behind Jesus’ wish, to feed the hungry. He feeds bread for physical hunger, but the story of the gospel today is more than bread for hungry people. It is getting fully involved in the lives of those in need. Pope Francis remarks — “We find Jesus’ wounds in carrying out works of mercy, giving to our body – the body – the soul too, but – I stress – the body of your wounded brother, because he is hungry, because he is thirsty, because he is naked, because he is humiliated, because he is a slave, because he’s in jail, because he is in the hospital. Those are the wounds of Jesus today. And Jesus asks us to take a leap of faith, towards Him, but through these His wounds. Where in my life are there opportunities to “share my food” so others will have enough? Parish news: Due to the recent changes in assignments, as you may know that Our Bishop Dennis Sullivan has asked me also to continue running the Regional Hispanic Ministry at St. Jude Church in Blackwood, NJ. Our present weekend Mass Schedule as of right now is as follows: Saturdays: 4pm (Stratford), 5pm (Lindenwold), and 6pm Sp (Blackwood). Sundays: 7:30am (Lindenwold), 9:30am (Lindenwold), 11:30am (Stratford), 11:30am Sp (Lindenwold), 11:30am Sp (Blackwood), and 5:00pm (Stratford). Moving forward to the future, in order to serve the needs of our people Mass Schedules will need to change. More information will follow…God Bless! May God be Praised!

Stewardship: Multiplies
“Jesus said to them, ‘There is no need for them to go away; give them some food yourselves’.”
MATTHEW 14:16
This is what Jesus said right before he fed the five thousand men. How often do we really place our trust in Jesus when the situation looks grim? With Jesus, gifts of Stewardship are never too small or insignificant when offered with love. But, we have to do our part. We should trust that Jesus will provide all that we need. We need to believe that Jesus has a better plan in store for us.
75th Anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki:
Join other Catholics and people of good will as we approach the solemn occasion of the 75th anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9, 1945 with prayers and solidarity. Find resources like a prayer card and background information to share with your community at usccb.org/nuclear. Let us pray and act for peace in solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world, but especially in Japan.
In solidarity with the Church in Japan, let us pray with the words that Pope St. John Paul II shared at the Peace Memorial in Hiroshima on February 25, 1981.
To the Creator of nature and man, of truth and beauty I pray:
Hear my voice, for it is the voice of the victims of all wars and violence among individuals and nations;
Hear my voice, for it is the voice of all children who suffer and will suffer when people put their faith in weapons and war;
Hear my voice when I beg you to instill into the hearts of all human beings the wisdom of peace, the strength of justice and the joy of fellowship;
Hear my voice, for I speak for the multitudes in every country and in every period of history who do not want war and are ready to walk the road of peace;
Hear my voice and grant insight and strength so that we may always respond to hatred with love, to injustice with total dedication to justice, to need with the sharing of self, to war with peace.
O God, hear my voice and grant unto the world your everlasting peace.

Respect Life News: Remember the 20/20 Postcard Campaign last fall? Our parish sent over 4500 postcards to our legislators as part of a state-wide campaign. In total, over 123,000 cards were sent to our state representatives over the last year. And the response from them?? ZERO! NADA! But LIFENET, the pro-life group that organized this campaign is not going to let this great effort go quietly. They are following up with a letter to each legislator stating how many postcards were sent and asking for their response. They sent letters in June, and will send another in August, and again in October. LIFENET is also organizing a special rosary event scheduled for October 13: “One Thousand Strong: Rosary for Life.” This rosary will be a “call in” event, much like our parish has organized during the pandemic. It is being organized at both the parish and state level so that we can all participate in our homes (or churches) together at the same time. More details will be coming out soon, but if you are interested in committing to praying with pro-life people across our state on Tuesday evening, October 13th, at 7 P.M., please email me and I will put you on a contact list: Mary Ann – [email protected] or text/call 609-707-1725.
Distribution of Holy Communion within the Mass: The original decision to move the distribution of Holy Communion to the time after the final blessing was made in light of the recommendations of the Thomistic Institute with the intention of reducing the number of times people had to move within the church building during the celebration of Mass. Movement brings contact so less movement means less contact. However, given the low numbers that are participating in Masses at this time, this is not of great concern. Beginning on August 1st and 2nd we will return the distribution of Holy Communion to the Rite of Communion.
Catholic Charities’ Diaper Drive: Catholic Charities, Diocese of Camden is launching an ongoing diaper drive across all six counties of the Camden Diocese in order to help meet the needs of babies and families who are struggling with financial hardship. All are welcome to participate in this ongoing drive by dropping off diapers at Catholic Charities’ offices during the specific dates and times listed for each county. This information, along with a flyer, can be found at: www.CatholicCharitiesCamden.org/diaper-drive. Catholic Charities thanks you in advance for your generosity and support of babies and families!
