Dear family, Can you believe we are only now a week away from Christmas?! The temptation is strong to get distracted or anx-

ious, but we must not give in. God still has given us room to grow and reflect and this weekend we are given the perfect example

in St. Joseph. Our theme this advent, remember, has been “Preparing the Way for Love.” On the first Sunday, we had to stop, look

and listen so that Love Himself could even have an audience. On the second Sunday of advent, we learned from St. John the

Baptist that sometimes the message of love being proclaimed might sound strange to ears untrained. We learn that sometimes to

proclaim love, true love, might offend people as love is powerful and incites change. The third Sunday of advent we focused on

our feast day. Our Lady teaches us that love’s power is shown best when given to the marginalized. We see in the apparitions of

Tepeyac that the message of tender love is powerful in changing the future of individual and whole community lives, with effects

felt throughout the world. Love being the most important of the supernatural virtues, as St. Paul proclaims, gives hope and builds

faith! Finally, on this last Sunday of Advent, we see what it takes to remain true to love’s call. St. Joseph willingly takes on danger,

inconvenience and presumably abandons his own preferences to show a love so great so as to keep Love Himself safe and allow

Him to make’s love’s greatest statement: that God is love. All of this Joseph did not with the aid of fuzzy feelings, not with glamour,

but with perseverance and hard work. The decision to remain true to love ultimately has the power to make God present in the

world. Please use this mission this week to prepare your hearts to receive His love, you won’t regret it. In His joy, Fr. Daniel

Mass Readings for Week of Dec.18

On behalf of Mark Abeyta, Theresa Archuleta (my wife) and myself, we would like to express our sincerest thanks to you for your help in making our “Fellowship Meal” on Thanksgiving Day at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church a huge success. This year we served over 130 people and had

enough food left over to send to the men’s homeless shelter so they could enjoy a Thanksgiving meal as well. The food and monetary donations so generously given by the people in the Taos Communities were enough to help make all this possible. Our goal is to make this event grow bigger and

better each year, so that a greater number of our brothers and sisters throughout our neighboring communities can look forward to it each year. We also hope that the other religious organizations in and around Taos will feel welcome to join our cause and send more and more people from their

congregations to partake of this event, and have a chance to share a wonderful meal and some engaging conversation with their families, friends and neighbors, regardless of their socio-economic status or

religious beliefs. Thank you again!

Sincerely, Billy Archuleta

ST. PHILOMENA ADORATION CHAPEL An alternative to a Mass intention is to purchase 6 candles for the Chapel. These

candles are perpetually lit for one week. The candles burn close to our Lord on the altar. Intentions can be in memory of a loved one, a special request, or in thanks-

giving to our Lord.

There are few times I have been reduced to silence in my life. The overwhelming joy of the community’s response in making our Feast Day Celebration come together has made me jubilant in a most profound way. Thank you for helping Our Lady’s parish, thank you for giving back, and for helping me. With too many to name with the added risk of missing someone, I thank and love you all! Rev. Fr. Daniel J. Gutierrez
