The Tilma & The Image

A Tilma is a very coarse, woven covering worn by field workers made with sacking material held together by weak stitching. (5-50 years)

Scientific investigation reveals NO BRUSH STROKES or STITCHING. (It’s more like a photograph, taken 300 years before photography is even invented)

Blue Mantel – Royalty (only an Aztec high-god could wear blue)

Crested Moon is a Meso-american symbol for the god Quetzalcoatl (stone serpent), Christian symbol for Mary’s perpetual virginity & reflective light.

Bright Sun – Aztec indians worshipped the sun God.

Symbolism of the Image

Head Bowed – Humility. Loose Hair was a sign of a maiden/virgin.

Sash – 4 pedals of the flower refer to divinity in Aztec culture – Mary is carrying something divine in her womb

Flowers – Have shapes of the mountain Tepeyac where the apparition took place; Also refers to flowers blooming where there are no flowers.
