MENS ROSARY GROUP

There has been some interest in the parish to start a men’s rosary group that would meet once a month to pray the rosary together. If you are interested contact Peter Mendoza at 284-3023.

The word rosary comes from Latin and means a garland of roses, the rose being one of the flowers used to symbolize the Virgin Mary. The rosary is a devotion in honor of the Virgin Mary. It consists of a set number of specific prayers.

SCHOOL MINISTRY NEWS

I would like to thank the following members of Our Lady of Fatima Community that have served on the Principal Search Committee:

Chairperson: Marty Loesch, Bob McLaughlin, Matt Campbell, Marie Groark, Max Effgen, Courtney Williams. This committee has given many hours of meetings, prayer and discernment to help select the leader who will be taking us into a strong and exciting future for Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School.

I have met with the Mr. Nicholas Ford, told him of the committee’s recommendation to me, offered him the position of principal and he has accepted and agreed to serve.

Mr. Ford is to be admired for his strong vocation in working with children to help them grow in the development of their understanding and mission to spread the Gospel’s message beyond the walls of Our Lady of Fatima School and Parish, into the community! His sense of mission and service has been formed through his working with the Fatima community, his time at Boston College and his work as a Jesuit volunteer. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education at Boston College and is currently enrolled at Seattle University and is completing his Post-Master Certificate in Educational Administration at Seattle University. He has administrative experience in serving as Dean of Studies at Gonzaga Primary School, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and on the leadership team for the recent accreditation team for Fatima.

Mr. Ford, began teaching at Fatima in September 2012 and is currently serving as a teacher of grades 6-8, while supporting Mrs. Burdett in administrative duties through the leadership of the Accreditation self study. The committee and myself were impressed by Mr. Ford’s true joy of working with the Fatima community. His leadership by example, his quality teaching, and the encouragement and support of Mrs. Burdett provides me the confidence to appoint Mr. Ford as the principal of Our lady of Fatima Catholic School! Mr. Ford will begin as principal on July 1st and will be transitioning with Mrs. Burdett to keep Fatima moving forward as an excellent Catholic School! Fr. Phil

Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord Page 4 March 27, 2016

TENT CITY 5 Our Lady of Fatima has joined a coalition of Magnolia churches to support the needs of the

new Interbay Tent City (TC5). Pastors from the churches including Fr Phil and representatives of each church met recently along with 4 of the Tent City Campers. The residents are self managed under the umbrella of “Share Wheel” which supports the King County Tent Cities. TC5 is an alcohol, drug and violence free camp. The residents are anxious to be good neighbors.

TC5 does not have electricity and the 60 residents are dependent on batteries. Please purchase batteries of all sizes and put them in the bin in the Parish Center marked “TENT CITY 5 BATTERIES”. Every size from AAA on up is needed. Propane is needed for cooking and can be delivered to the security tent on 17th West behind QFC on Dravus. The Fire Department has worked with TC5 to establish propane safety standards on the property.

We will update you periodically as needs will vary according to season. For instance, ice will become important when it gets warmer as there is no refrigeration. If you would like to represent Our Lady of Fatima on this Ecumenical church coalition, please contact Sue Patneaude at 281-8095.
