XXX Sunday of Ordinary Time October 25, 2020

LA ÉTICA DEL AMOR La liturgia hoy nos convoca a comprometernos en el amor a Dios y al prójimo, de tal modo que todos experimentemos la ternura de Dios en nuestras acciones. Las leyes (normas de vida) que el Señor da a su pueblo, subrayan un denominador común: el cuidado de los más indefensos y necesitados. Y el hecho de que estas “normas” se hayan establecido en el contexto de la Alianza de Dios con su pueblo le dan una dimensión religiosa y teológica incuestionable: se nos muestra cómo puede realizarse la comunión con Dios en la existencia de los humildes y con el prójimo necesitado. Y el amor es la clave. Amar a Dios amando al prójimo, en esto se sintetiza todo, afirma Jesús. Pues, lo que le da gloria a Dios, precisamente, es que amemos al prójimo como lo amamos a Él. Y ¿cómo podemos hacerlo? A través de la práctica. En esto Pablo es claro: nada de palabras vacías, sino obras concretas, que manifiesten con radicalidad la adhesión y pertenencia de la vida al Crucificado, que un exceso de amor entregó su vida por la salvación de todos. Amar a Dios con todos los sentimientos del corazón, con todos los pensamientos de la mente, con todas las acciones de nuestro diario vivir; ayudar al necesitado, ser incondicionales en el servicio que prestamos, estar atentos a las nuevas carencias de quienes nos rodean; vivir para amar a Dios, en todo tiempo y lugar; hacer de la misericordia y la solidaridad los puntales de la existencia personal y comunitaria; amar a Dios para que Él se adueñe de nosotros y despliegue su amor desde nosotros a los hermanos, son acciones que deben marcar nuestro camino de fe en la marcha hacia la plenitud de la vida. Hoy es tiempo de volver la mirada al hermano. ¿El amor es la experiencia de la voluntad y de la emoción que articulan toda mi vida? El reto que nos haces, Señor, de amar al prójimo con la misma medida con que amamos a Dios, no es fácil, pero si tú estás con nosotros, todo es posible. Amén.

THE ETHICS OF LOVE

The liturgy today calls us to commit ourselves to the love of God and our neighbor, so that we may all experience the tenderness of God in our actions. The laws (norms of life) that the Lord gives his people, underline a common denominator: the care of the most helpless and needy. And the fact that these "norms" have been established in the context of the Covenant of God with his people give him an unquestionable religious and theological dimension: he shows us how communion can be realized with God in the existence of the humble and with the neighbor in need. And love is the key. To love God by loving our neighbor, in this, everything is synthesized, affirms Jesus. For what gives glory to God, precisely, is that we love our neighbor as we love Him. And how can we do it? Through practice. In this Paul is clear: no empty words, but concrete works, that manifest with radicality the adhesion and belonging of the life to the Crucified, that an excess of love gave his life for the salvation of all. To love God with all the feelings of the heart, with all the thoughts of the mind, with all the actions of our daily life; helping the needy, being unconditional in the service we provide, being attentive to the new needs of those around us; to live to love God, in every time and place; make mercy and solidarity the pillars of personal and community existence; to love God so that He may take over us and unfold his love from us to the brothers, are actions that should mark our path of faith in the march towards the fullness of life. Today is the time to look at the brother. Is love the experience of the will and the emotion that articulate my whole life? The challenge that you give us, Lord, to love your neighbor with the same measure that we love God, is

not easy, but if you are with us, everything is possible. Amen.

The Communion of the Saints Communion means "common union"; and Communion of Saints means common union with Jesus Christ of all the saints in heaven, of the souls in purgatory and of the faithful who are still on pilgrimage on earth. It is the union of all the saints with the Head of the Church, who is Jesus Christ, and of all the saints with each other. Those in heaven intercede for others; Those on earth honor those in heaven and entrust themselves to their intercession, they also pray and offer suffrages for the deceased in purgatory, and these also intercede on our behalf. What is the communion of saints? The communion of saints is the common union that exists between Jesus Christ, Head of the Church, and his members, and between them. Who are the members of the Church? The members of the Church are the saints in heaven, the souls in purgatory, and the faithful on earth. Those who are not in the grace of God, do they

participate in the Communion of Saints? Those who are not in the grace of God participate in the Communion of Saints only insofar as they can obtain some benefits from the Lord and above all, the grace of conversion.

La Comunión de los Santos Comunión quiere decir "común unión"; y Comunión de los Santos quiere decir unión común con Jesucristo de todos los santos del cielo, de las almas del purgatorio y de los fieles que aún peregrinamos en la tierra. Es la unión de todos los santos con la Cabeza de la Iglesia, que es Jesucristo, y de todos los santos entre sí. Los del cielo interceden por los demás; los de la tierra honran a los del cielo y se encomiendan a su intercesión, también oran y ofrecen sufragios por los difuntos del purgatorio, y estos también interceden a favor nuestro. ¿Qué es la comunión de los santos? La comunión de los santos es la unión común que hay entre Jesucristo, Cabeza de la Iglesia, y sus miembros, y de éstos entre sí. ¿Quiénes son los miembros de la Iglesia? Los miembros de la Iglesia son los santos del cielo, las almas del purgatorio y los fieles de la tierra. Los que no están en gracia de Dios, ¿participan

de la Comunión de los Santos? Los que no están en gracia de Dios participan de la Comunión de los santos solamente en cuanto pueden alcanzar algunos beneficios del Señor y sobre todo, la gracia de la conversión.

Confirmations - On Saturday, November 7, 2020 those who have been preparing for the last two years and the adults in the RCIA program will receive the sacrament of confirmation. The Celebration of the Eucharist will be at the Church of Saint Nicholas at 11:00 am. Taking into consideration the social distancing regulations.

We are doing a small raffle to raise funds for the

celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12th. Tickets can be found at the church exit after each Sunday celebration of the Eucharist. Thank you for your support for this celebration inDecember.
