COLLECTION INFORMATION

Aug. 10/11: $5,201 ~ Special Monthly: $2,360 July Online Giving: $4,450

SACRAMENT OF THE SICK

Join us the last weekend of each month after the 4:00PM and 11:00AM Masses to receive the healing touch of the Lord.

RCIA

In celebrating this month of Our Lady’s final journey to God in her glorious Assumption, let us ask her motherly intercession to draw souls to the Sacred Heart of her Son. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a journey too—of conversion to God and what he intends for us. RCIA is the process by

which persons who were never baptized, or were baptized in another Christian tradition, become members of the Church, a people on pilgrimage to our Heavenly Father. If you are interested or know someone who is, please contact Sharon in the parish office and one of our RCIA team members will reach out to you.

August 18 ~ Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Sundays in the summer often afford us more time for leisure and contemplation. Today’s readings give us much food for thought if we take a few minutes to take another look. Who do you count among “the great cloud of witness” in your life? Is there someone that is a pillar of faith and strength that you admire? What is it about the person that you can imitate—today? The race mentioned in the letter to the Hebrews is NOT the “rat race” we so easily get trapped in, it is the race to eternal life, the race we run in faith each day, “...while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus.”

OUR LADY’S ACADEMY: JOB OPPORTUNITY PART-TIME

Our Lady’s is seeking Youth Leaders/Counselors for the Little Saints After School Program. Spend time with the children by helping them with arts/crafts, homework, chapel time, cooking and other fun activities. Flexible work schedules are available. If interested, please contact Jacqueline Ashba in the After School Office at 781-899-0206. Send Resume to [email protected].

THE CENACLE OF THE DIVINE MERCY

The group will meet on Wednesday, September 10 at 10:00am in the office across from the parish office. Please park in the driveway behind the school building and enter through the parish center.

WILL OR BEQUEST GIFTS When considering gifts to a charity in your Will

or Trust, please remember Our Lady’s.

OUR LADY’S MEMORIALS

Our memorials are meant to remember a deceased loved one or a special intention. These memorials include the illumination of the Stained Glass Window, Bread and Wine, Sanctuary Candle or the illumination of Blessed Mother Statue. The donation for each memorial is $50 for a week. If you are interested, contact Sharon in the parish office.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION 2019-2020 We hope everyone is enjoying some recreation and relaxation before Back to School rolls around. Please remember to register for Religious Education classes which start in September. Forms are available online at the parish web site olca.org, stopping by the Parish Offices or contacting Felicia Forger at [email protected] or call 781-894-3481 x3. Enough books & supplies need to be ordered and classes & teachers organized. Speaking of teachers, please consider joining the team, and maybe actually forming a teaching team for your child's grade so schedules can be flexible. Grade One anyone? Religious Education is a life-long process to deepen our relationship with Christ on our journey to everlasting life in heaven. Please consider helping the youth of our parish appreciate our Catholic faith, receive the Sacraments, know right from wrong, treat themselves and others with kindness, and to be committed followers of Christ on their journey too. Thank you!

CATHOLIC APPEAL UPDATE

SURPASSED 2019 CATHOLIC APPEAL GOAL—

THANK YOU!

Congratulations! Our Lady’s Parish has surpassed its 2019 Catholic Appeal goal of $47,459. We are truly grateful to the parishioners and families that helped us reach our goal. 51 ministries serving 288 parishes. This is our Church. Your support of the Catholic Appeal makes a difference. Thank you for responding to Cardinal Seán’s call to witness more clearly the depths of God’s love for each one of us through this important effort.

OUR LADY’S CONFIRMATION PROGRAM

Our Lady’s Confirmation Program is for students in grades nine and ten attending public, private and parochial schools. The program consists of classroom instruction and discussion, service to the parish and community, written assignment, field trips and Retreat attendance. In fact, here is a picture from last year’s energetic Retreat! We are blessed again with returning teachers for which we are most grateful. However, this year we are in need of another one Grade 10 teacher who will “job share” the class times with another teacher already in place. Dynamic Catholic “Decision Point” is the curriculum used which is engaging and interesting both for teachers and students – very teen and user friendly. This curriculum is only a few years old so it is relevant and relatable to today’s world and a great springboard for lively discussion. The calendar and registration form are available on the parish web site: olca.org. Classes begin shortly so please register if you haven’t yet done so. Please contact Felicia Forger at [email protected] or 781-894-3481 x3 to register or see the workbooks or ask any questions or to simply chat about joining this ministry with no obligation. Thank you!

“The right to life is the first among human rights” ~ Pope Francis

For those who enjoy playing the game, Our Lady’s holds Bingo every Friday night. Doors open at 5:00pm and Bingo starts at 6:45pm. The proceeds raised go towards Our Lady’s Academy.

ST. VINCENT DEPAUL BOXES

Our Lady’s St. Vincent dePaul continues to quietly help many people without fundraising. The only income comes from occasional donations from parishioners, but mostly from the 4 blue metal boxes we have located at the doors of the church. Perhaps the next time you walk in OR out of church, you might notice the box and drop some coins or more which will greatly be appreciated. Thank you for your kindness.

OUR LADY’S FOOD PANTRY

Our Lady’s St. Vincent de Paul assists the needy of the parish. The food pantry collection is the third weekend of each month. Requested donations: Canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned soup, canned hams, canned beef stew, mayonnaise, jars of pasta sauce, pasta, peanut butter, jelly, bath soap, dish soap, paper towels, children’s snacks. Thank you.

Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley Statement Following El Paso and Dayton Shootings

Monday, August 5, 2019

"The mass murder of 31 innocent people in a 24 hour period, fueled by hate and disregard for human life, is unacceptable in any society. We offer our prayers and support for the communities of El Paso and Dayton in the midst of this time of immense pain. Our nation was founded on the principle that all people are entitled to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” We implore our elected leaders to rise above ideological differences and work together to address the serious issues facing our country by enacting meaningful and effective policies to end the violence. This includes keeping firearms, particularly assault weapons, out of the hands of those who would use them to inflict devastating harm on our communities. We must address inadequate mental health care in this country. Finally, we must work towards a more civil and just society that rejects all forms of violence and hatred in our country. The fabric of our national conscience is at risk. Today we give thanks for the bravery of the first responders who selflessly rush to the aid of the victims and pray for the healing of those injured in the shootings. We call upon the intercession of Mary, the Mother of God, for the protection of our loved ones, friends and neighbors as we entrust to our Lord’s mercy those lost to this violence. Together let us strengthen our commitment to do what is necessary to stop these horrendous attacks."

ANNUAL GOLDEN AND SILVER ANNIVERSARY MASS
