STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION FOR THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 21 / REFLEXIÓN DE LA CORRESPONSABILIDAD PARA LA SEMANA DEL 21 DE FEBREROEach liturgical year on the Second Sunday of Lent our Gospel Reading recounts what we call the Transfiguration of Christ. On the First Sunday (last week) we heard one of the accounts of Jesus’ temptations in the desert. There is a reason we hear this Gospel Word in this order. Last week we were informed of the temptations that await us, especially during this Holy Lenten period. This week the way to overcome these temptations is revealed. The word “transfiguration” comes from the Latin trans, which means “across” and figura, meaning “form” or “shape.” It signifies a change of form or appearance, and this is exactly what happened to Jesus; His appearance changed and became glorious. The description of the Transfiguration occurs in all three Synop-tic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke). This is a proclamation of the Lord’s divinity. It is intended for all of us. In fact, each of us is invited, just as Peter, James, and John are, to become a part of this experience. We are called to conversion and witness of the truth. That is what Lent should be all about for us. The stewardship message is that we need to strive for conversion, for grasping the hope offered by Christ. St. Thomas Aquinas wrote, “At His Transfiguration Christ showed His disciples the splendor of His beauty, to which He will shape and color those who are His.” Are we His?

FOR A LONGER REFLECTION, PLEASE VISIT WWW.THECATHOLICSTEWARD.COM.

¿Somos Su?

THE 2ND SUNDAY OF LENT / 2º DOMINGO DE CUARESMA 3

St. Paul wrote in the second reading today that “Our citizenship is in heaven.” He’s pointing out that one day we will be there and will need to live like we belong there. He’s also pointing out that we need to start practicing living like we are citizens from heaven while we are here on earth. In another part of scripture St. Paul calls us ambassadors for Christ. If you are an ambassador for the United States in another country, one of your main responsibilities is to model and live the values of the United States. The same for us. We are ambassadors for Christ here on earth. We are to model and live the values of Christ. One day we will be called home to heaven where our citizenship is, but until then let’s be the best ambassadors here on earth.Thursday Night Confessions: February 25 & March 3; and March 7 is our Lenten Penance ServiceGod bless you all!Fr. Padre Jim

It will be like a breath from one to the other.” ~ St. John VianneyAs our parish’s Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration (PEA) Coordina-tor, I am excited to share that our parish’s response to PEA has been nothing short of miraculous! To everyone who signed up to adore and/or to help promote and organize this wonderful opportunity, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude. Organizers have work-ing hard to ensure that the PEA schedule is full.
