Transcript of Our goal was to develop a map that showed Mexicos different culture regions for Mrs. James Spanish...
•Our goal was to develop a map that showed Mexico’s different culture regions for Mrs. James’ Spanish classroom at Huntsville High School.
•Our task was to develop a two dimensional map providing a clear understanding of the major regions of Mexico.
The NWACC outcomes that we based out project on are:
• Gaining a greater awareness of cultural prospective,
• Learning to work together as a team.
The course outcomes that we based out project on are:
• Beliefs and opinions.
• Self as a learner and future teacher.
• The first day of working on our project we did
some research on what we could do for Mrs.
James considering she wanted a map of Mexico that was larger than the one she was trying to
use now. We decide to do map a 2- dimensional
map of Mexico that was the size of a shower
curtain. We then made our proposal for Dr. Ryel to approve of our project. Now it was time to plan what to put on the map
and do some shopping.
• For day 2 we decided to do some research. We began by talking
with Mrs. James, getting a Spanish book from her and
going to the NWACC library. We looked
through books to find important facts about
Mexico and interesting places
that were of importance.
• For day 3 we ventured to Wal-Mart for some supplies. We contemplated for a while
on rather or not to do the map on a shower curtain or
to use a bamboo window curtain. After a while we decided on the bamboo. Then we had to get some
material to make the cut out of Mexico and we also had to get some spray adhesive
to make it stick to the bamboo. After shopping we went home and began to cut
out the outline of Mexico.
• Time for some more research to figure out
where to put the boundary lines for the culture
regions.
• On day 5 we did a little more shopping and then it was back home to get to work on the map. We
got most of the map done today and got the letters cut out to use for the title and the capitol city. We
included Cancun and the beach, the day of the dead, and major cities
that were of importance to Mexico and to Mrs.
James.
• Today we made some last minute fixes to the map and began on the PowerPoint for the web site. We also began the
brochure for our classroom. In addition to this we set a day to deliver the project to
Mrs. James. We are so happy with the outcome
of the map and can’t wait to present it to the
school.
• Today, April 29th 2008, we
presented our project to Mrs.
James at Huntsville High
School. She loved it! It felt so good to see
her smile as much as she
did. Finished!!!
We feel we have learned a lot from doing this Impacts Project. We have a better understanding
of working as a team and what it feels like to accomplish something wonderful. We feel as though we have done something great for our
community and we have gained a lot of experience from the schools and ourselves from
this project. To put it plain and simple, WE LOVED IT!!
