La  ceiba                                                                      Ariana  Avelar  7A

La  Ceiba,  Honduras  is  a  friendly  city,  with  that  "small  town"  feel.  It  is  surrounded  by  lush  jungles,  breathtaking  mountains,  challenging  rivers,  and  intriguing  beaches.

We  welcome  you  to  learn  more  about  this  beautiful  place,  explore  its  wonders,  and  hopefully,  decide  to  see  La  Ceiba  for  yourself.

Ecotours,  river  rafting,  garifuna  villages,  and  mountain  treks  are  what  La  Ceiba  is  all  about.  Beach  lovers  can  always  just  relax  on  any  of  the  uncrowded  La  Ceiba  beaches.

La  Ceiba  History

The  town  of  La  Ceiba  in  Honduas  was  named  after  a  giant  ceiba  tree  which  grew  at  the  shores  of  the  Caribbean  Sea.The  tree  was  so  big  that  the  first  settlers  (theGarifuna  -‐  immigrant  slaves  from  the  Island  of  Saint  Vincent)  said  that  it  was  "The  Ladder  God  used  when  he  came  down  from  Heaven  to  visit  Earth".

The  port  city  of  La  Ceiba  started  to  develop  in  1872,  when  Manuel  Hernandez  built  a  hut  under  the  enormous  tree.  Around  it,  other  neighbors  started  to  settle,  seduced  by  the  boom  of  the  the  banana  plantations.  The  commerce  of  this  fruit  was  so  prosperous  that  it  brought  the  attention  of  big  international  companies  that  started  to  establish  in  La  Ceiba.

The  city  started  to  grow  with  national  migrants  and  foreigners.  Over  the  years  the  infrastructure  has  changed,  but  La  Ceiba  has  always  kept    its  own  Caribbean  flavor.  La  Ceiba  was  declared  a  town  August  23,  1877,  being  the  center  of  the  banana  republic  and  main  point  of  the  regional  economy.  Later,  the  biggest  industrial  and  financial  companies  of  Honduras  came  to  La  Ceiba.

Today,  La  Ceiba  is  the  third  most  important  city  in  Honduras,  and  the  second  most  important  port  in  the  country.  La  Ceiba  has  the  highest  literacy  rate  in  Honduras,  and  a  large  bilingual  population.

                                                                                                 CALANTERIQUE

BY:  MILTON  SANDRES  Calanterique is a very special place. It has a lot of attractions like slides, little Bmx park, and swims but my favorite attraction is the slide because you can sit in the bottle and slide very fast it has a lot of tress animals and very beautiful sounds and plants it has a little Bmx park that you can go and do tricks .On Bmx park I only do 180 degrees flip but are other tricks that are very difficult like boomerang, 360 degrees flip and the most difficult the flip back . On that place when my father was young he went there but when my father got there it was ugly. He went when he was 18 years old; the trees were very little and it dint have plants.

This is a very big castle the firs think I like in that place is this castle when I see all the birds and animals in that castles I like it. In the top of all that trees are squirrels when I went to that place I see like 10 squirrels

in the top of all the trees. This place is in Siguatepeque in the neighborhood of Macaruya and is very close of El Alba Bilingual School. On the parades of the school we go to practice on that place because is very big.

ISLAS DE LA BAHIA ROATAN

I REALLY LOVE THIS ISLAND!

IT IS A VERY NICE AND BEAUTIFUL ISLAND BECAUSE THE WATER IS CLEAN LIKE CRYSTAL. THE SAND IS VERY BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE IS CLEAN AND IS VERY SALTY. IN ROATAN YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT, IF YOU GO YOU WILL HAVE A LOT OF FUN. THERE ARE A LOT OF 5 STARS HOTELS. WHEN I GO THERE, I LIKE TO GO SCUBA DIVING IN THE REEF. YOU KNOW THAT ROATAN HAS THE SECOND BEAUTIFUL REEF IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. IN ISLAS DE LA BAHIA THERE ARE 3 ISLANDS, THEY HAVE DIFFERENT NAMES BUT ONE OF THE THREE IS ROATAN. THIS MAKES IT A SPECIAL ISLAND BECAUSE IT IS A BEAUTIFUL ISLAND AND THAT IS THE SECOND BEAUTIFUL REEF IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, THAT’S

WHY PEOPLE LIKE TO GO TO ROATAN.

My Favorite Prairie!

It’s an imaginary place, well although I

investigate about it. I find that there’s

one almost the same one I think of, or

imagine. It’s kind of mine because I

had been dreaming with it, and that’s

why for me it’s just PERFECT! There’s

a large variety of trees and beautiful white and purple flowers in everywhere.

It’s situated on the heart of the forest; behind it you can see mountains in my

head or in Portland (where there’s one like this). Near it you can find a precious

river that flows out there, its sound is very relaxing and inspiring, so it’s

amazing to hear that relaxing sounds and forget about everything. It’s the

perfect place to lie down on the plants and get relaxed. You can lay and watch

all the clouds and find their shapes, or stay in the midnight and watch all the

perfect beauty of the night, like the stars and the moon. It’s a place where you

can be just you and yourself, but it’s difficult to find out if you don’t know

where it really is, because is situated on the woods. You can find it on a

sidewalk, if you don’t follow it correctly you might get lost. I think it’s a very

special and magical place, for me it’s. You can make a picnic or just enjoy

what nature gives you; you can also go for a swim in the river, because it’s

kind of a lake, similar to it. Mountains surround everything, flowers give the

prairie a special thing that makes it more beautiful, and I call it like a

paradise. It doesn’t have attractions just inspiring attractive. I investigate that

the real one it’s situated in the outsides of Portland in the U.S.A. It’s very, very

big, I mean enormous. When you’re there you can forget about everything and

also even your name, no I’m just kidding with that, but it’s amazing. You feel

very free and very yourself. It makes yourself breath like if air is the most pure

one. You can sleep and lie down to relax or be a while there just thinking, when

you’re stressed or freak out. If you take an mp3 with relaxing classical songs

everything will be perfect for me it’s just the Best place in the world to be.

In  this  article  I  will  talk  about  my  ballet  studio  and  why  I   like   ballet.   I   like   a   ballet   studio   because   I   like  practicing   ballet   there.   Ballet   is   something   I’ve   been  liking  and  doing  since  the  ten  years  old  so  I  think  I  am  really  flexible  now.  I  like  to  practice  it  because  when  the  more   I  practice   I   can  get  better   and  being   someone   in  the   future   with   ballet.   Practice   takes  me   a   lot   of   time  because  on  a  typical  day  first  I  warm  up  to  not  get  hurt  later,   then   I  do   routines,   then   I  do  stretch  ups  and  always   learn  something   new.   The   ballet  studio   belongs   to   a   friend  named  Zara  Buck.  The  studio   is  big,   there   are   games   for   little  girls  that  practice  too,  and  there  is   music,   bars,   and   very   big  mirrors   in   a   whole   wall.   Is   it  located   in   Siguatepeque,  Comayagua  sides  the  grave  yard.  It  is  a  special  place  to  me  because  doing  ballet   lets  me  feel   that  I  am  good  at  something  It  is  also  special  because  it  gives  me  Healthy  Benefits   too   like:   Taking   a   ballet   class   can   help   me  multiple   ways   from   losing  weight   and   practicing   good  posture!  Lifelong  Friends  like:  I  met  my  best  friends  in  a  ballet   class.   Believe   it   or   not,   the   same   girls   I   was  dancing  with  when  I  was10  is  with  me  until  now,  either  way,   if   you   stick   to   a   regular   dance   class,   I   guarantee

Page 16: Our Favorite Places in Honduras - 7A

you'll  make  at  least  one  new  friend.  Pure  Fun  like:  Many  people  who  don't  take  ballet  think  that  it's  strict  and  no  fun  at  all.  Well,  you're  wrong!  Ballet  is  fun  if  you  make  it  fun.   You   can   throw   your  cell   phone  on   and   improvise  dance   moves.   You'll   have   the   time   of   your   life  choreographing  your  own  dance.  Every  ballet  move  can  be   turned   into   something  else   if   you  want   to.  Ballet   is  art  and  it’s  beautiful.  You'll  be  able  to  create  your  own  piece   of   art!    Stress   reliever   like:  I've   been   pissed   off  and   stressed   out  plenty   of   times.  How   do   I   deal   with  it?   I   take   a   ballet  class.   It   soothes  me  and   calms   me  down.  I  put  on  my  ballet  shoes  any  time  I  want  to  clear  my  head  or  get  something  of  my  mind.  It's  a  great  way  to   forget  about   reality  once   in  awhile.   I   can  get   lost   in  music  and  dance  my  heart  out.

My  Favorite  Place  My favorite place of Honduras is the bay island

because there are a lot of species of exotic animals,

and differents activities that you can do like canopy,

scubadiving, swiming in

the sea ,see the iguana

garden, relax,go to coral

cay resort,go to hotels,

visit the museum, swim

with dolphins and watch

thier show,visit the lodge

garden, what about of

their food? That food is so delicious because thei

catch is what they they catch for example

shrimp, langoste ect. And what about their music?

music from them is what we call punta is a very

busy pace and very cheerful so this is my favorite

place. In the Bay Islands, there are five star hotels. A

place that I want to go another time is a beach

called West Bay, because here the water is so clean

and sand is like cristal too. You can swim on the

Islands of Utila, Roatán or Guanaja. The best place

to go scuba diving is Roatán, because it has a coral

reef.
