Geek Church

Geek Church returns on Sunday, Au-gust 6th! Geek Church is a new min-istry idea that incorporates Christian faith and “Geek Culture.” It is a cel-ebration of where spirituality and popular culture meet. We will espe-cially focus on the Geek Culture of sci-fi, comic books, video games, film and television. Each Geek Church Gathering will have a focus. Our second Geek Church Gathering will focus on Comic Books and Superheroes! At 6pm, Sunday August 6th, Geek Church will gather in the fellowship hall. We will have a fun and geek friendly power point presentation, short meditation by Pastor Pat, melding Scripture and themes from Comic Books, a time for sharing, games, activities and all sorts of meaningful FUN!

Weekend Meals on Wheels

On Saturday, August 26th, PCW will embark on an exciting new mission endeavor. That morning, we will be taking our Meal De-livery Mission idea for a test run. That morning, a small group of volunteers will making Mostaccioli and preparing salad. Then, another small group will arrive to help portion the pasta, salad and cookies into individual meals in to-go containers (portions will be generous enough for two meals). Our drivers will then ar-rive to pick up and distribute the meals to our clients. Through-out July, we will be building our client base and promoting the program to the community. If you know of someone who lives within the city limits of Washington who would benefit from a free week-end meal, please encourage them to contact the church to register. We will need volunteers to bake cookies for the test run. There is a team in place to plan this event: Linda Boo-her, Jan Eade, Wyonia Goebel, Pat-rick Gruber, Pamela Kellermann, Mark Thayer, Robbin Thayer, and Jean Weekley. Keep your eyes open for further volunteer opportunities.

This curriculum seems to send us on a wet and wild trip into the Bi-ble. We are so excited to see where it takes us. As of now we have volunteers for each station, but don’t let that deter you. The sta-tions are as follows; crafts, Bible stories, games, service, and snacks. We can always use any volunteers that are willing to help. Just contact Heather Miller at (636) 432-3810, to let us know what you are willing and able to do. There will be a signup sheet posted for donations that will be needed for the snacks that we will be preparing to go along with each theme day and we are very excit-ed. If you can’t help that week, we would love to have you come and help get the church transformed for this underwater experi-ence. We will be meeting on July 16th after worship to start deco-rating.

We need empty water bottles for our craft project! There will be a collection box in the hallway. Thanks to all!!!
