Welcome to the Church Of England across Nottinghamshire’s 4th annual Open Weekends! This year over half of all churches across the county are taking part; either by simply opening their doors and welcoming visitors, or by offering refreshments and staging additional activities and events. Churches are a valuable part of our heritage, being both significant guides to British architecture and important focal points within our communities. We are so fortunate in Nottinghamshire to have such a rich variety of different churches to visit in our towns and villages; all places of prayer and worship, centres of community life and service, buildings of historical and architectural significance. We hope you will find this guide useful for planning a visit to a few of them. Originally set up in 1998, the Project is now in its final stage, by the end of which every church in the Diocese will be represented on the website with an accurate historical record, and will have free access to high quality tourism and educational material.
