To promote agricultural awareness, education, and
understanding among students, teachers, and the general public in order to
ensure our continued access to a safe, abundant, and
affordable domestic food supply grown in a manner to protect human health and the quality of our environment.

Ag in the Classroom
The Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom program is offering container garden grants. To apply for project funding, please complete the form on pages 7-8, outlining the project, goals and desired outcomes. All grant applications are due by March 16, 2015. Final reports are due by October 30, 2015. *Final reports should share results of the program. (Early completion is available and appreciated.) Check out the application beginning on page 6.

Kids for Conserva on®: Photos, Observa ons and Stories/Poems/Artwork Needed
The IDNR Division of Educa on’s Kids for Conserva on® program is reques ng informa on monthly from Illinois youth (younger than age 18). We will feature images, stories/poems/artwork and a map with loca ons highlighted. All submissions must be the products of Illinois youth. Visit h p://www.dnr.illinois.gov/outreach/kidsconserva on/Pages/default.aspx for details. February’s feature is “Animal Signs” and “Frogs and Toads” for March.
Kids for Conserva on® is great for schools, youth groups and families to par cipate in.

Will County Farm Bureau has
over 11,900 members.
Only 1,226 of those members are
involved in Agriculture.
Since 1987 the Will County Farm Bureau Foundation has provided 416 scholarships to
Will County Farm Bureau students for a total of $397,750!
This makes us one of the largest scholarship providers in Will County!

Some other ideas include:
Make an acrostic poem using the word CHOCOLATE or CANDY BAR
Make a human bar graph by having the students separate by their favorite candy.

The Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom program is offering container garden grants. The grant award will include one 13 x 29 x 11 inch EarthBox® Portable Planting System as well as the IAITC Once Upon A Garden lesson booklet and one copy of each of the following books (or appropriate substitutes): Oh Say Can You Seed by Bonnie Worth, Harvest Year and Seed, Soil Sun: Earth’s Recipe for Food by Cris Peterson, Water: sources, use, conservation by Nancy Carlson, and The Vegetables We Eat and From Seed to Plant by Gail Gibbons. Recipients will also receive a check for $20 to purchase potting soil, seeds and plants for their EarthBox®. • To apply for project funding, please complete the form on pages 2-3, outlining the
project, goals and desired outcomes.

application. A listing of coordinators can be found on our website: www.agintheclassroom.org
