Dear Delegates,

Welcome to Oxford Journals Day 2015, the eighth time we have hostedthis event for our editors and society partners. We hope that it will prove to be an informative, stimulating, and enjoyable event.

This year we have a wide-ranging and thought-provoking programme. Some of the presentations will look at the journals publishing environment, e.g. recent developments in Open Access publishing, the future of peer-review, and indeed the future of the journal (we are nothing if not ambitious). There will also be sessions profiling things that OUP is doing in areas such as journals marketing, as well as working with authors for who English is not their first language. Completing the mix, there will be sessions with a more practical angle that we hope will have application to your titles, in areas such as ethics and special issues.

We will also be repeating the one-on-one drop-in sessions between delegates and OUP experts for specific practical advice on services provided by OUP, such as online submission systems, editorial office support, and production at OUP. If you are interested in having a one-on-one session, these can be booked in advance via the Oxford Journals Day registration form, with time slots being allocated upon registration. Alternatively a sign-up form will be available on the day to register your interest.

One innovation this year is the introduction of mini-presentations – very brief talks followed by questions and answers. Topics include corporate sales, Oxford Language Editing service, new online proofing tools, and how OUP’s library sales team operates.

We welcome feedback from delegates, and each year we distributea survey to all attendees to gather your opinions on the event. Therewill be a print version of the survey available for you to fill out at theconference or, alternatively, you can fill out the online version here:www.surveymonkey.com/s/OJDUK2013delegate

We use your responses to improve delegate experience year-on-year, aswell as informing programme content for future Oxford Journals Dayconferences.

Once again we are encouraging all attendees to share their experienceby tweeting about the sessions and speakers. If you are on Twitter, please follow the Oxford Journals Twitter feed (@OxfordJournals) and use the event hashtag #ojday.

If you have any questions about Oxford Journals Day during theevent, please contact a member of the Oxford Journals Day organizingcommittee, who will be stationed in the conference office.

We hope Oxford Journals Day is a thoroughly rewarding and valuableexperience.

Many thanks,The Oxford Journals Day Committee
