COUNSELLORS NEWSLETTER September 2019 Welcome to a new academic year! We hope that you have all enjoyed your summer and are feeling recharged. It has been a busy few weeks with the start of term and welcoming our new students - we are sure it has been just as busy for you! We look forward to connecng with you over the next few weeks to deliver new resources and to dis- cuss how NIC can support your students. Below are some important updates and event dates for your calendars. CAMPBELL RIVER— COUNSELLOR CAMPUS VISIT Thursday, Oct 3rd, 10:00 am —12:00 pm While some of the Campbell River campus renovaons are sll underway, most of the new spaces are completed and are now open —this includes our new Student Commons, Library, Cafe- teria, Nursing Lab, and Aircraſt, Aquaculture, and Heavy Duty shops! We invite counsellors to visit campus for a tour of the new spaces and to learn more about the programs offered at the Campbell River campus. Please RSVP by Sept 23rd to [email protected] PRESENTATIONS Recruiters can come to your school or classroom to present on post-secondary educaon, Dual Credit courses and Youth Train in Trades programs, and NIC programs and pathways. Please contact Renae or Danielle to arrange a presentaon at your school. Welcome to a new academic year! We hope that you have all enjoyed your summer and are feeling recharged. It

has been a busy few weeks with the start of term and welcoming our new students - we are sure it has been just as

Learn more about NIC programs and courses, admissions,

financial aid, and more during our Information Nights.

These evening are a great opportunity for students and

their families to connect with NIC faculty and staff to get

all their questions answered.

OPEN HOUSE

Port Alberni — Wednesday, Feb 19th, 2020

Comox Valley — Thursday, Feb 20th, 2020

We are excited to host your Grade 10—12 students to

our 9th annual Open House events. The purpose of these

events are to expose students to the varied and unique

opportunities that are available to them post high school

graduation.

FUTURE STUDENT VISITS & CAMPUS TOURS

Prospective domestic NIC students can now book ap-

pointments with Renae or Danielle using our new online

booking system found on the homepage of the NIC web-

site. Meetings will allow students the opportunity to ex-

plore programs, ask their questions, and go on a person-

alized campus tour. This is a great first step for students

as the recruiters will walk individuals through next steps.

A reminder that student applications for Winter 2020

Dual Credit and Youth Train in Trades need to be sub-

mitted by November 30th, 2019 for reserved seats. Below

are some programs that are available to your students.

HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT CERTIFICATE

EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE & EDUCATION

“Should I see a Recruiter or Advisor? “

Students who are exploring program options, would like a

campus tour, or need support starting the application

process are best served by the recruiters. Students who

need support with financial aid , timetabling, or registra-

tion should see an advisor.
