GOND TRIBAL PAINTINGS - the story........
MP has the largest population of tribes !! One such tribe is the Gond Tribe, who are originally storytellers .
There are some art forms which take us back to our roots. . They speak about the soil, nature and all the living beings. Gond Art is one such art form. It is one of the most interesting and yet tradtional art form.
Gond art draws inspiration from myths , legends & images from daily life. It also incorporates the emotions, dreams, and imagination. Mythiical beasts & intricate detailing of flora and fauna are the main themes The Gonds used to tell stories about nature, legends and myths with the help of their musical instrument called ‘bana’. This community makes this art form by means of tattoos and designs on the floors and walls of their homes during festival
The fine lines or dots attracts everyone. All these paintings tell stories of nature as these tribes are nature worshipers. “Nature is an integral part of their life. They will seek permission of a deity before cutting any tree or pray for help if they are going hunting. They also understand very well that in nature everything is interconnected.......just like all of us are! Enjoy and imagine the stories behind OUAT's collection of GOND paintings.
