A wee bit about Peter .
Peter and his wife Su-zanne farm in Lanark Highlands Town-ship "formally Lanark Township next to Lanark Village," in the centre of Lanark County. He is the fifth generation on this farm, his namesake Peter McLaren bought the farm in 1839, after emigrating from Scotland in 1829. They cash crop corn and soybeans, and produce corn silage, hay and bar-ley to feed a small beef herd. After ‘retiring’ from milking in 2008, beef and cash crop seem to be a bit less time consum-ing.
Peter was on local township council from 2006 until 2014, the last four years as mayor. Over the years he has served on the local Stewardship Board, Mississippi Clean Water Committee and current-ly serves as a member of the Rideau Clean Water Committee and Mississippi-Rideau Source Water Committee. Peter is the third Provincial President from Lanark County. His pre-decessors were John McGill (1979) and T.A. Wilson (1947).
