ENHANCED SOUTHWEST ACCESS DISCUSSION
• Recap from December Meeting: – June 15, 2019: City Council directed staff to advance
Design Idea #1 (modified) and E. Glebe Ramp options• Current Design: E. Glebe Ramp
– Approved by City Council in DSUP– Pedestrian ramp with entrance arch
• Design Idea #1 (modified): South Entrance Pavilion with Bridge
– Pedestrian bridge to pavilion with 2 elevators and stairs
– Goal: Completion of a southwest access concurrent with or close to the station opening in March 2022

• Current status– Following WMATA’s process for change order negotiations– Finalizing changes to independent cost estimates– WMATA finalizing negotiation position (with City
concurrence) • Next steps
– Determine if negotiated change order price is reasonable given current market costs
– Determine if state & federal oversight agencies will concur with City and WMATA analysis
– Recommend action to PYMIG and Council:• If negotiated price is deemed reasonable by all parties, proceed
with awarding change order.• If a reasonable price cannot be negotiated, WMATA to begin a
competitive procurement process– PYMIG input on preferred option if both are financially
feasible
