Does your shoulder pain build up when you move it wrong or is it a sudden sharp pain shooting from your neck into your arm?
Do you have difficulty just washing your hair or even scratching your back? Have you had to give up golf because of your shoulder pain?
Nothing’s worse than feeling great mentally, but physically feeling held back from life because your shoulder hurts and the pain just won’t go away! My name is Dr. Erin Arnold , owner of North Cobb Spine and Nerve. Since we have opened our doors I’ve seen hundreds of people with shoul-der pain, frozen shoulder and rotator cuff problems leave the office pain free.
Just listen to what our patients have to say about it…..
I came to North Cobb Spine and Nerve with shoulder pain, stiffness and numbness in my right arm. I had a hard time working all day without pain. Now that I have been at NCSN, I can work at my desk and I can pick up my children without pain and numb-ness. The staff here is very pleasant and caring.
Thanks! Tiffany Kemmitzer
I was experiencing pain in my shoul-der that was affecting my sleep. Since I have been in the office I can sleep much better and the pain has de-creased tremendously! I am a much happier person and am amazed at how good I feel! Thanks again- Cristy Cromer
If you are suffering from any of these prob-lems, this shoulder treatment protocol may completely eliminate all the pain.
Pain Pills Could Be Making YourShoulder Worse
If you’re taking pain pills for your shoulder, you are likely making your problem worse. Pain pills, even over-the-counter medica-tions, just mask the problem, and don’t fix your shoulder.
Pain is your body’s warning sign telling you to take it easy. If you mask the pain with pills, you are likely to do things that can prevent your shoulder from healing – maybe even damage it further. Not to mention many of the pain medications available are quite addicting and have drastic side effects.
Shoulder Pain Is Not Just ‘Old Age’
No question… if you are having shoulder pain then something is wrong. It’s not normal aging to hurt all the time. Pain in your shoulder isn’t just a ‘sign of old age’, if that was true all 360 joints in your body
would hurt since you’re whole body is the same age.
Pain is your body’s warning sign telling you something is wrong. Finding the problem and fixing it has got to be a top priority!
Have A Doctor Evaluate Your ShoulderFor Only $20
Just call before December 15th and here’s what you’ll get…
l An in-depth consultation about your shoulder where I will listen…really listen.
l A complete nerve, muscle and spinal exam to find the “cause” of your problem.
l A set of specialized x-rays to look for joint degeneration (arthritis)… (NOTE: These would normally cost you at least $200).
l A thorough analysis of your exam and x-ray findings so we can fix the problem.
I’ll answer all of your most probing questions about our painless shoulder evaluation and what it can do for you. The appointment will not take long at all and you won’t be sitting in a waiting room all day either.
To take me up on this special offer, you must call before December 15th. Look, you have very little to risk and a lot to gain. Call today and we can get started with your consultation, exam and x-rays as soon as there’s an opening in the schedule. Our office is located at 3451 Cobb Pkwy. Suite 4 Acworth, GA.
Sincerely,Erin Arnold, D.C

tores,mallsandonlineretailersarealreadytryingtogetyouinthespiritoftheseason,butnothingmarksthebeginningoftheChristmasHolidaymorethanputtingupafreshcutChristmastree.Amongthemosttrea-
suredofChristmasfamilytraditionsisdecoratingtheChristmastree.Ifyouuse a cut tree, there are several tips for keeping your tree green, festive, andsafefromthetimeyouputitupuntilyouhavesungthelastChristmascarol.
Choose a tree thatwill fit in yourhomeeasily.Considerheight andwidthavailable for the tree inside your home. You really do not want your treeselectiontogodownintheClarkGriswoldhalloffame.
Whenyoubringyour treehome, cutoff thebottom inchof the trunkandimmediatelyplacethetreeuprightintoabucketofwater.Storeitoutdoors, out of bright sunlight and protected from the wind to allow it to take upwaterandgetwellhydratedbeforeyoubringitinside.
Beforeyoubringthetreeintodecorateit,checkyourlights.Testlightsandinspectallconnectionsbeforeplacingthemonthetree.Replacelightsiftheyareworn.
Make sure your tree stand is large enough to accommodate your tree andthatitcanholdenoughwatertosupplythetree.Sometreescanuseuptoagallonofwatereachday.
Positionthetreeawayfromheatsourcesincludingheatvents,heaters,fire-places, and direct sunlight. These will all cause the tree to dry out morequicklyandcanturnyourdelightfulholidaydecorationintoafirehazard.
Oncethetreeisupandinplace,besuretocheckthewaterlevelinthestanddaily.Donotletthewaterlevelfallbelowthecutsurfaceofthetrunk.Ifitdoes,thecutsurfacewillformasealpreventingwaterfrombeingdrawnupthetrunk.Ifthishappens,makeafresh1inchcuttobesurethatyourtreecanstilltakeupwater.
TurntheChristmastreelightsoffwhenyouleavehomeandwhenyougotobedatnight.
Donotoverloadyourelectricalcircuits.
Monitorthetreeforfreshnessandiftheneedlesbecomedry,disposeofit.
Speakingofdisposal, when theholi-days are over and you are ready toget ridof the tree, KeepPauldingBeautifulinvitesyouto“BringOnefor the Chipper “ on January 4,

Ifyou’veansweredyesforthemajorityofthese,chancesareyouaresufferingfromadrenalinsufficiency.
Adrenal insufficiency, otherwise known as adrenal fatigue, seems to have becomean increasingly prevalent condition in our modern world. Why? Because we havebecomeaworldofoverachievers,whereworkingyourselftodeathiscelebrated,weareconstantlyonthego,nottakingenoughtimetorelax,recover,andsleep.Somanypeopleareunderconstantstress,thattheydon’tevenrealizethattheyareinadver-tentlydamagingtheirhealth.WhenIsaystress,thisincludesnotonlypsychologicalstress,butalsothingslikechronicinfections,allergies,exposuretochemicaltoxins,useofstimulants(includingcaffeineandnicotine),poornutrition,physicaltrauma,andpoorsleephabits.Allofthesethings,amongothers,cantriggerastressresponseinyourbody,whichcanbedamaging.
How your body deals with that stress depends on the proper functioning of youradrenal glands, and if your adrenal glands aren’t functioning properly then manyothersystemsinyourbodywillstarttodecline,iftheyhaven’talready.WhydoIsaythat?Well,youradrenalglandsarelikeoneofyourbody’smasterregulators.
Depending of their function, they can affect your immune system, sex hormones,bloodsugarlevels,psychologicalfunction,cardiovascularsystem,andmetabolismtonameafew.That’salotofworkfortwolittleglandsthatsitontopofyourkidneyslikeatriangularhat.
Chronicstressisoneofthemostdamagingthingsthatcanhappentoyourhealth.Notall stressfuleventsarepreventable,but forminggoodhabits (propernutritionandsleep)anddevelopinggoodcopingmechanismscanhelpoffsetsomeofthenegativeeffectsassociatedwithstress.However,ifyou’reatapointwhereyoususpectadrenalinsufficiency,itmightbetimetohaveyouradrenalsassessed.Onceassessed(oftenviasalivarytesting),youradrenalglandscanthenbeappropriatelysupportedtorestoreproperfunctionandtopreventmoreserioushealthissuesdowntheroad.Don’tletstressdamageyourhealth

season.Ifyouhavejewelry,electronicsorotherbigticketitemsonyourwishlistthisyear,it’simportanttomakesureyou’reprotectedlongafterthegiftwrapandorna-mentsareputaway.Tomakesureyouhavethepropercoverageforyourvaluables,hereareafewtips:
Have the item or gift appraised:Thiscanhelpestablish the item’svalue. If apieceofjewelryisanantiqueorwaspurchasedseveralyearsago, itwillneedtobeappraisedforadollarvalue.Andwhile itmightbedifficult toputapricetagonsentimentalvalue, thisisanecessitytoensureyourpricelesspossessionsareaccountedforandprotected.
Check your insurance coverage:Reviewyourcurrentpolicytomakesureyourvaluablesarecovered.Ifnot,speakwithyourinsurancerepresentativetodiscussyouroptions.Mosthomeownersandrentersinsurancepoliciesdoincludecoverageforexpensivepersonal items but many policies will limit the reimbursement amount if they arestolen. In thiscase, youmightwant topurchaseanadditionalrider toexpandthecoverageonthepolicy.
Consider expanded policy coverage: For an additional premium (the amount paid forcoverage),youcanincreaseyourcoveragelimitsforeachtheftloss.Yourinsuranceagentcanhelpyoudecidewhatmakessense,basedonthevalueofyouritems.
Keep your store receipt:Save itwithyourhomeinventoryrecordsandtakeapictureoftheitem.Photosanddocumentationwillhelpspeeduptheclaimsprocessifyouhavetofileone.
Store the item in a secure location:Ifitissomethingthatyoudon’tuseonaregularbasis,youmaywanttoconsiderkeepingitinasafedepositbox.Otherwise,considerusinganin-homelockbox.
Get a home security system:Considerinstallingahomesecuritysystemforaddedpro-tection.Manytimes,justhavingasigninyouryardfromthehomesecuritycompanyisenoughtodissuadeintruders.Plus,someinsurancecompanieslikeERIEwillofferadiscountforpreventivemeasureslikehavingasecuritysysteminstalled.
Alert the authorities and your insurance agent:Shouldyouritemsgomissingoryousus-pecttheft,filloutapolicereportandalertyourinsuranceagentinatimelymanner.Thiswill speedup theclaimsprocessandwillprobably increase the likelihoodofgettingyourpersonalitemsreturned.
So,thisholidayseason,ifyouwanttomakesureyourvaluablesareprotected,talktoyourinsuranceagenttofindoutjustwhatyouroptionsare.

So here’s more advice from a busy pediatric practice about your beautiful bundleof joy. First, breast isbest. According to theAmericanAcademyofPediatrics andtheUnitedStatesSurgeonGeneral, breastmilk is thebestnutrition foryourbaby.Thatsaid, breastfeeding isnotaneasy task. Likeeverything in life, practicemakesperfect. New mothers need plenty of rest, good nutrition and water, as well asemotionalsupportwhilelearningtobreastfeed.Ittakesapproximately6weeksformomandbabytofindtheirrhythm.Momwillhavegoodmilksupply,thesorenessshouldhavediminishedandmomwillbebetterabletoenjoynursingherbaby.Thebabywillbecomeanefficientfeederinlesstime.Breastmilk’sbenefitsforthebabyincludeeasierdigestion,fewerallergyrisks,lessconstipation,lessobesity,lessdiaperrash,improvedimmunityandastrongermother-babyrelationship.Thebenefitsformother include lower cost, greater convenience, faster recovery, less post-partumdepression,reducedriskforbreastcancerandhighersatisfaction.Don’thesitatetoaskforassistancefromyourpediatricianoralactationconsultant.
Breastfeeding isnot thebest situation for everybodyand there shouldbenoguiltinbottle-feeding.Babiesthrivewithcommerciallymadeformulas.Cow’smilk,soy,lactose-freeand specialty formulas areavailable. Consult yourpediatrician to findwhatformulaworksbestforyourlittleone.Nomatterthenutritionsource,watchthebabyforsuckingonhands,rootingorcryingtoindicatereadinesstofeedandtherelaxationthatoccurswithafulltummy.
Secondly, illness prevention is a must. In Kindergarten, we learned to wash ourhandsafterusingtherestroomandbeforeeating.Inthedailycareofanewborn,weshouldalwayswashourhandsbeforehandlingthem,feedingthemandafterchang-ingthem.Anyonewhocomestovisitmustwashtheirhandsbeforecomingincontactwiththebaby.Iftheyaresickwithafeverorcough,theyshouldnotenterthehomeuntiltheyhavebeenfreeofillnessforatleast24hours.Duetothelackofimmunity,afeverandillnessisabigconcerninanewborn.Ifthebabyfeelswarm,takearectaltemperature. It is themostaccurate. If the temperature is above100.4, thebabymustbeseenimmediatelyatthepediatrician’sofficeoremergencycare.
Finally, ababyshouldbeputontheirbacktosleep.SincetheAmericanAcademyof Pediatrics instituted the “Back to Sleep” program, there has been a significantdecreaseintheincidenceofSuddenInfantDeathSyndrome(SIDS).Babiesshouldsleepona firm,well-fittedmattresswithnopillowor fluffy stuffedanimals in thecrib.Co-sleepingisnotrecommendedbecauseofthefearofsuffocationfrombeingtrappedinbeddingorunderaparent.
Newbornsfrequentlyhavetheirdaysandnightsmixedup.Caringforanewbornisexhausting.Arrangeyourdayaroundyournewborn’ssleepscheduleandnapwhenheorshenaps.Thelaundryanddisheswillwait.Asearlyas2monthsofage,sleep-ingpatternsstarttoregulate.Feedingfrequentlyduringthedaymakesforabettersleeperatnight.

Hoovesgrowslowerinthewinter.Thesechangescomemostly fromthecirculationinthehoof.Whenhorsesareriddenorareturnedoutless,there’slesscirculationtothehooves.Slowerhoofgrowthisgoodnewsforsomepeople-thiscanmeanfewervisitsbythefarrier.Butforotherswhoarewaitingforacrackorotherhoofproblemtogrowout,thisreductioninhoofgrowthcanmeanalongwait.
Hoofgrowthisn’ttheonlyissuetoworryaboutthiswinter.Groundthatisfrozenisunyieldingandcancausehoofsorenessorbruises.Ridingslowlyonfrozengroundisonewaytopreventthis.Addingpadstoyourhorse’sshoesisanotherway.
Ballsoficecanalsoformfrommeltingsnow,puttingpressureonthecenterofthesole.Theballsoficecancausesorenessorleadtotripping,andonesliponanicysurfacewillmakeyourhorsewillfeelunsafeandnotwanttoriskslippingagain.Toavoidthissituation,makesuretorideorwalkyourhorseonsafeground.
Abscessesseemtospringupanytimeoftheyear,butwinterseemstobeanespeciallypopulartime.Oftenthisiscausedbythechangeintemperature-warmandmuddyone day, cold and frozen the next. The hoof wall expands and contracts to meettheseconditionsandcanallowbacteriain.Anothermethodofentryforbacteriaisthroughwetfeet.Excessivemoisturefromtoomuchwashingoflegstoremovemudcansoften thehoofandalsoallowbacteria in.Thiscanalsocause theproblemofscratchesorpasterndermatitis.Scratchesareacommonproblemofinflammationoftheskinbehindoraroundthepasternofthehorse.
Winterisoneofthrush’sfavoritetimesofyearbecauseitthrivesinwet,dirtybeddingandareaswheremud,mixedwithmanure,isfound.Creatingmudandmanurefreeturnoutsarealsoimportant.Usestallmats,hogfuelorgravelinpaddocksandsacri-ficeareastohelpcutdownonmud.Cleanareasatleastonceadayorsotopreventmanurefromcausingproblems.

MERCY (DOB ~05/02/2011) is a beautiful male seal point Himalayan who was initially found taped inside a box on the steps of a church with a note that said “homeless and unemployed.” The person who found him at the church took him to a local animal control facility; and we were notified that he was available for rescue. He is a tentative young man who, given a second chance, will warm up to his new family and give them many years of love, loyalty, and companionship. MERCY is neutered, up-to-date with vaccines, negative for Feline FIV/FeLV, dewormed, microchipped, has received flea and ear mite preventative, and is eligible to receive at least 30 days of prepaid pet health insurance at the time of adoption. MERCY’s adoption fee is $150.00.
To see all our cats available for adoption, please visit www.fancyfelinerescue.org/available.htm, then email us, [email protected], or call 678-522-2152, to schedule an appointment to meet your new family member!
***Fancy Feline Rescue of the South is in need of volunteer help ranging from cleaning, feeding, and socializing our cats at the rescue center to helping out at our weekend adoption events twice monthly at the Kennesaw Petsmart to coordinating fundraising events. If you are willing to give of your time and your heart to help our kitties, please complete our online volunteer application at www.fancyfelinerescue.org/volapp.htm. The gratification of knowing you make a difference in the lives of these deserving cats is overwhelming.***
