I’m excited to see over the years that SMSFs have grown in popularity, specifically the increase in awareness of property in super as a stable investment choice.

From our original beginnings as a traditional accounting and financial planning practice, clients were painfully billed in 6 minute increments, communication was reserved for the dreaded tax time or when something went seriously wrong. Back then staff sat in partitioned cubicles and watched the clock. It’s chalk and cheese to where Otium is today and what we embody. Sadly many others are still operating this way.

The difference, I am proud to say as CEO, is when someone just like you first contacts the Otium office, they are embraced in our passion we call the ‘Otium Experience’. We understand your retirement planning advice to date. You are either property or shares and in an industry fund or seeing a bank financial planner you rarely hear from. Don’t think you are not eligible to be an Otium client. We are first and foremost a retirement planning service, built with Chartered Accountants, Financial Planners, Insurance Brokers, and Admin Specialists. We use a mix of Property and Managed Funds to get you there, depending on your own bias to one asset or the other.

With an expert team focused on client satisfaction, your experience will be streamlined as follows:

QUALIFICATION

• Discuss in general your financial goals and objectives and see if property in super is the right fit for you

• Learn how owning a property in super can benefit you

• After the meeting, we will send you an outcomes of meeting letter outlining our recommendations. You will be given projected cash flow calculations and advised on the fees for our professional services and maintaining a compliant SMSF…The decision to proceed is then up to you!

SETTLEMENT, INSURANCE & COMPLIANCE

• We will liaise with your mortgage broker and lawyer throughout the settlement process, providing them with all required legal documents and financial details, and ensuring you have the funds required at time of settlement

• A review will be conducted on your personal life insurances by our specialist Insurance Financial Advisory team.

• You will meet with our Chartered Accountant to discuss the ongoing accounting requirements of maintaining a compliant SMSF

• At your next meeting, Otium will conduct a detailed review of your financial situation and profile your risk tolerance. You will need to provide us with your existing superannuation and insurance statements, ID and personal information

• Otium will conduct research into your existing super funds – balances, insurance, etc

• After the meeting, we will prepare an advice document detailing the full financial strategies, recommendations and outcomes to be implemented . It tells the ATO you want to self manage and the bank your borrowing capacity

ESTABLISHMENT & IMPLEMENTATION

• Your SMSF and associated entities will be established and we will prepare legal documents and applications for your rollovers, bank accounts and regulatory registrations

• We will walk you through the documents at your next meeting, and after processing them, Otum will maintin a permanent records register for you

• Your super will be rolled over from your existing super funds to your new SMSF; the bank account you control!
