Certification LASBO’s Board of Directors established its Professional Certification Program in December 1992. This is a voluntary program of professional certification that leads to five types of designations:
Certified Louisiana School Business Administrator (CLSBA)
Certified Louisiana Charter School Business Administrator (CLCSBA)
Certified Louisiana School Business Official (CLSBO)
Certified Louisiana School Business Specialist (CLSBS)
Certified Louisiana Charter School Business Professional (CLCSBP)
The certification program is open to LASBO members employed full-time in the central business office of a school system in Louisiana. A certification application form can be down-loaded from LASBO’s website at www.lasbo.org. LASBO currently has 240 active certified school business officials employed in 72 school systems throughout Louisiana. Attendees of the Fall Workshop may earn credit toward certification education requirements. Attendees already certified may earn up to six hours toward recertification. The deadline for certification applications is Dec. 19, 2016. Recertification hours are due by Dec. 19, 2016. The new 3-year recertification period begins Jan. 1, 2017.
Who Should Attend The LASBO Fall Workshop brings together the entire central business office staff in an informal learning environment. Finance directors, department heads, accounting staff, payroll and purchasing personnel, IT personnel, auditors and others interested in the topics are all encouraged to attend.
Register Early! The registration fee of $75 is due by Oct. 17, 2016. A late fee of $15 will apply for registrations postmarked after Oct. 17. Full refunds through Oct. 17; $15 fee will withheld from registrations received Oct. 18 to 24; no refunds after Oct. 24.
Accommodations A block of rooms has been reserved at the Paragon Resort in Marksville, LA. Rates are $91 single or double standard rooms in North and South Towers, and $114 single or double for Atrium Tower rooms. An extra $30 is charged for third person in room. Each person is responsible for supplying a completed tax exempt form at check in. The form can be found on the LASBO web site (under Events, then Conferences & Workshops).

This is an overview of the MFP, concentrating on the areas that Business Managers need to understand to project their State revenue for budgeting purposes.
Workshop #2 Grant Management Updates Steven Spillman, Attorney, Brustein & Manasevit, PLLC Develop an understanding of grant requirements under the Uniform Grant Guidance and
the Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR). Topics will include an overview of the significant changes, policy and procedure requirements, and audit documentation requirements.

Ritchie Garrett, Consultant While relationships between public school systems and charter school systems may be
different from region to region, this session will present a microscopic view of a how a
public school district and a charter school learned that each system, on some level, is
dependent on the other’s success. Learn the basic terminology and understand the effects
of different types of charter schools on school districts, what districts need to consider when
faced with a new charter presence, and how each system can work toward a positive co-
existence.
