    MINA ALPAMARCA

    Alpamarca se ubica en la meseta Intracordillerana deJunn Cerro de Pasco, a una altitud de 4,770 metrossobre el nivel del mar, distrito de Santa Brbara deCarhuacayn, Provincia de Yauli, Departamento deJunn. Se localiza en la comunidad Campesina deSan Jos de Baos.

    Alpamarca es una gran falla Andina de rumbo NW,con mineral de plomo, zinc, plata y relativo cobre.

    La mina Alpamarca tuvo operaciones, en variasetapas, entre los aos 1950 y 1983. Inicialmente laexplotacin fue subterrnea y al final con pequeostajos abiertos (Nito y Don Pablo).

    Durante el 2008 se inici una operacin a tajo abiertoy la preparacin de la mina subterrnea. Tiene 1.5mde toneladas de reservas con leyes de 0.16% Cu,1.29% Pb, 2.52% Zn y 4.00 oz.Ag/t y recursos enprofundidad de 2.4m con leyes de 0.16% Cu, 1.30%Pb, 2.5% Zn y 5 oz.Ag/t.

    La produccin actual es de 350 tpd y el mineralextrado es transportado desde los stock pilesdirectamente a la planta Animn en la mina Chungar(42 km) con camiones de 40 TM de capacidad.

    En la medida que la produccin se incrementara 2,000 tpd, la capacidad de la planta Animnsera insuficiente por lo que se est diseando y

    programando la construccin de una planta enAlpamarca para operar en el 2011.

    MINA ALPAMARCA

    Alpamarca is located in the intermountain plateau

    of Junin - Cerro de Pasco, at an altitude of 4,770 mlsabove sea level, in the district of Santa Barbara of

    Carhuacayn, Province of Yauli and Department of

    Junin. It is located in the rural community of San Jos

    de Baos.

    Alpamarca comprises a large Andean fault trending

    NW and carrying lead, zinc, silver and copper mineral.

    Past operations at Alpamarca were carried out in

    several stages, between the years 1950 and 1983.

    Initially exploitation was from underground, but

    towards the end small open pits were started (Nito and

    Don Pablo).

    During 2008, open pit operations were restarted andthe underground mine is being prepared. It has 1.5 m.

    of tonnes of reserves with grades of 0.16 Cu, 1.29% Pb,

    2.52% Zn and 4.0 oz.Ag/t and resources going deeper

    of 2.4 m. with grades of 0.16% Cu, 1.30% Pb, 2.5% Zn

    and 5 oz.Ag/t.

    Current production is 350 tpd. The extracted mineral

    is transported from stockpiles directly to the Animn

    plant at Chungar (42 Km.) with trucks of 40 MT

    capacity.

    Considering that the production will increase up to

    2,000 tpd., the capacity of Animn plant would not

    be enough; therefore, the construction of a plant in

    Alpamarca is being designed and programmed to

    operate in 2011.

    La operacin est conectada a travs de la lnea detransmisin de 22.9 KV del sistema de Centrales

    Hidroelctricas de la cuenca de Baos.Alpamarca tiene programado incrementar suproduccin en el largo plazo hasta 720,000 TMS demineral en los siguientes aos.

    Para la explotacin superficial a tajo abierto se realizel modelamiento del yacimiento lograndose definirel diseo final del Tajo Alpamarca, que inicialmenteconsta de 4 tajos que al final se integrarn yconstituirn en uno solo.

    Para lograr esto el siguiente plan ser desarrollado:

    Explotacin de mineral mediante una operacin atajo abierto.

    Produccin de 15,000 TMS por mes (180,000 TMSanuales) del tajo abierto durante el ao 2009 y deltajo y mina subterrnea durante el ao 2010. Estemineral ser transportado hacia Chungar y tratadoen la planta Concentradora.

    Preparacin de una operacin subterrnea parainicio de operaciones a partir del ao 2010.

    Construccin de una planta concentradoraindependiente en Alpamarca, as como laconstruccin del depsito de relaves en el 2010.

    Ejecucin de pruebas y puesta en marcha de laplanta en el ao 2011.

    The operation is connected through a 22.9kv

    transmission line from the Central Hydroelectric Power

    Plant system of the Baos basin.

    Alpamarca is programmed to increase its production in

    the long term to 720,000 MT in the following years.

    For surface exploitation by open pit, an orebody model

    was made from which was determined a final design

    for the Alpamarca open pit which formerly had 4 open

    pits that in the end will be merged into one.

    In order to achieve this, the following plan will be

    developed:

    Mineral exploitation by means of an open pit

    operation.

    Production of 15,000MT per month (180,000 MT

    annual), which will come from the open pit during the

    year 2009 and from the open pit and underground mine

    from the year 2010. The mineral will be transported to

    Chungar to be processed in the concentrator plant.

    Preparation of an underground operation in order to

    start mining activities in 2010.

    Construction of an independent concentrator plant

    in Alpamarca as well as the construction of a tailings

    deposit in 2010.

    Execute testwork and commission the plant in 2011.

    MINA TORUNA

    La Mina TORUNA se ubica en el distrito de Ulcumayo,provincia y departamento de Junn a una altura de4,200 msnm. Desde Huachn hasta Paucartamboexisten operaciones mineras aurferas informales,que se benefician de esta actividad desde muchasdcadas atrs, trabajando las partes altas y oxidadasdel sistema de vetas, que evidencian la presencia deoro. Metalogenticamente, pertenece a la franja dedepsitos aurferos, alojados en rocas paleozoicas,similar que los yacimientos aurferos ubicados alNorte del Per como Poderosa, Consorcio y Marsa.

    VOLCAN adquiere el 80% de Minera Aurfera TorunaS.A.C. en el ao 2007, titular de 500 hectreasde derechos mineros, iniciando una etapa deexploracin avanzada con desarrollo de tnelesy perforacin diamantina. Actualmente Volcancuenta con 13,300 hectreas de derechos minerosen la franja aurfera de Huachn y Paucartambo.

    En Toruna se ha reconocido siete vetas de cuarzocon sulfuros, principalmente pirita aurfera, enafloramientos que varan de 350 a 1,700 m delongitud, de formas lenticulares, ensanchamientos

    y adelgazamientos tipo rosario, ramales y lazoscimoides. Las principales vetas exploradas sonProveedora, Abastecedora, Luciana, veta D yveta C, y presentan un ancho entre 0.3 y 3 m. Lamineralizacin se distribuye en forma de clavosaurferos dentro de las vetas, con ley insitusuperiores a 8 gr.Au/t.

    TORUNA MINE

    TORUNA mine is located in the district of Ulcumayo,

    Province and Department of Junn at an altitude of 4,200

    m. From Huachn to Paucartambo there are several

    informal auriferous mining operations which have

    been obtaining benefits from such activities for severaldecades, working in the highly oxidized vein systems,

    in which there is evidence of gold. From a metallogenic

    point of view it belongs to the fringe of auriferous deposits

    located within Paleozoic rocks that bear similarity with

    those located to the North of Peru such as Poderosa,

    Consorcio and Marsa.

    VOLCAN acquired 80% of Minera Aurfera Toruna S.A.C.

    in 2007. It is titleholder of 500 hectares of mining rights

    and has started an advanced exploration stage with

    the development of galleries and diamond-drilling.

    Currently, Volcan has claimed 13,300 hectares of mining

    rights along the auriferous fringe of Huachn and

    Paucartambo.

    In Toruna, seven veins of quartz with sulphides are

    known, mainly auriferous pyrite, in surface outcrops that

    vary from 350 to 1,700 m. in length, in the form of lenses,

    with swelling and pinching (rosary-type), branching

    and sigmoidal formations. The main explored veins are:

    Proveedora, Abastecedora, Luciana, vein D and vein

    C, which show variable widths between 0.30 and 3.0

    meters. The mineralization is distributed in the way of

    auriferous ore shoots within the veins, with insitu grades

    up to 8 gr. Au/t.

    Se han identificado 3 zonas por su mineralizacin:xidos con ley promedio de 8.5g.Au/t y 4oz.Ag/t,

    sulfuros con ley promedio de 9g.Au/t y sulfurosdiseminados (lazo cimoide) con ley promedio de3.5g.Au/t.

    De acuerdo a la distribucin de las vetas, se hadiseado un programa de desarrollos de crucerospara interceptar las vetas, galeras y chimeneas a lolargo de las vetas y estocadas de reconocimiento.A la fecha se ha desarrollado 6.2 km de laboreominero en 8 niveles de exploracin y preparacin.Adicionalmente se ha practicado 8,500 m deperforacin diamantina en profundidad que

    evidencian un aumento en la ley de oro.El desarrollo de Toruna est considerado en 2 etapas,la primera de extraccin y tratamiento de mineraloxidado del sector sur, y la segunda de explotacin,extraccin y tratamiento de mineral de sulfuros.Se estn realizando pruebas metalrgicas a nivelpiloto para la viabilidad del proyecto. Asimismo seest elaborando el expediente para la obtencinde permisos necesarios para la instalacin de unaPlanta de Tratamiento.

    En los alrededores de Toruna existen varias

    concesiones mineras a favor de Volcan que estnsiendo exploradas con gran inters, colindantes alproyecto as como otras distribuidas en el corredoraurfero Huachn Paucartambo. Con los datos deperforacin diamantina y laboreo subterrneo seha estimado un potencial minero en el orden de unmilln de onzas de oro.

    Three mineralization zones have been identified: oxides

    with an average grade of 8.5g.Au/t and 4 oz.Ag/t,

    sulphides with an average grade of 9g.Au/t. anddisseminated sulphides (sigmoid formation) with an

    average grade of 3.5g.Au/t.

    According to the distribution of veins, a development

    program of crosscuts to intersect the veins was designed,

    galleries and raises along the veins and exploration drifts.

    To date 6.2 Km. of mine workings have been developed

    on 8 exploration and preparation levels. In addition,

    8,500 m. of diamond-drilling was carried out to test the

    structures, which indicates an increase in the gold grade

    with depth.

    The development of Toruna is considered in 2 stages: the

    first one for the extraction and processing of oxidized

    minerals in the Southern sector and, the second one forthe exploitation, extraction and processing of sulphide

    ores. Metallurgical tests are being carried out to test

    the feasibility of the project. Likewise, the process of

    preparing the way to obtain the necessary permits to

    install a processing plant.

    Surrounding Toruna there are a number of mining

    concessions claimed by Volcan, which are being explored

    with a great interest, close to the project and distributed

    along the Huachn Paucartambo auriferous corridor.

    With the diamond-drilling and underground data a

    mining potential of around one million ounces of gold

    has been estimated.

    MINA ISLAY

    La mina ISLAY forma parte del distrito mineroAnimn-Huarn, se ubica en el flanco oriental delos Andes Peruanos, distrito de Huayllay, provinciade Pasco, departamento de Cerro de Pasco, 5 km aloeste de nuestra operacin Animn, sobre los 4,600metros de altura. Fue operada en varios periodosentre los aos 40s y 1998, a pequea escala, por lafamilia Espritu.

    ISLAY pertenece a Compaa Minera Huarn quienmantiene un contrato de cesin por explotacin,a favor de Empresa Administradora Chungar,

    subsidiaria de VOLCAN, por el periodo de 10 aos,con vencimiento en el 2014, renovables.

    La mineralizacin en ISLAY es del tipo relleno defisura de naturaleza brechosa, principalmenteargentfera con ocurrencia subordinada de plomoy zinc, en asociacin con calcita, rodocrosita, slicey rodonita.

    VOLCAN dise dos programas de perforacindiamantina, el primero de 23 taladros con un totalde 3,100 m, y el segundo con 4,500 m. Ambosprogramas confirmaron la presencia de la veta con

    ancho de 5 m y ley promedio de 5.7 oz.Ag/t.

    En el ao 2008 se desarroll la construccinde accesos, talleres, oficinas, polvorn auxiliar ycancha de acopio de mineral y desmonte, ascomo infraestructura y servicios en interior mina.El mineral producido por la mina ISLAY es tratadoen nuestra Planta Animn.

    De los trabajos de laboreo subterrneo se confirmanlas leyes reportadas de los taladros, pero ademsse han encontrado zonas donde las leyes de plata

    aumentan hasta 15 oz.Ag/t.Con todos los trabajos realizados se ha calculadoreservas de 256 mil toneladas de mineral con leyesde 0.6% Pb, 1% Zn y 8 oz.Ag/t, y recursos mas de300 mil toneladas.

    La mina se explotar por Corte y Relleno AscendenteMecanizado, el desarrollo y profundizacin dela mina es a travs de la Rampa Islay de seccin4.5x4m.

    ISLAY MINE

    Islay mine is part of the mining district of Animn-Huarn,

    located in the eastern margin of the Peruvian Highlands,

    district of Huayllay, Province of Pasco, Department of

    Cerro de Pasco, 5 Km West of the Animn operations at

    an altitude of 4,600 meters. Islay mine was operated on a

    small scale by the Espiritu family during various periods

    between the 1940s and 1998.

    ISLAY belongs to Compaa Minera Huarn, which holds

    an exploitation assignment agreement in favour of

    Empresa Administradora Chungar, VOLCANs subsidiary.

    The agreement has a term of 10 years that ends in 2014

    but could be periodically extended.

    The mineralization in ISLAY comprises a breccia-type

    fissure fill, mainly with silver mineralization, with

    subordinated lead and zinc, in associated with calcite,

    rhodocrosite, silica and rhodonite.

    VOLCAN designed two diamond-drilling programs, the

    first one of 23 drillholes totaling 3,100 m. and the second

    one, 4,500 m. Both programs confirmed the existence of

    the vein with a width of 5 m. and an average grade of 5.7

    oz.Ag/t.

    In 2008, development started with the construction

    of accesses, workshops, offices, an auxiliary explosives

    magazine and, a stockpile of mineral and waste, as

    well as infrastructure and services inside the mine. The

    mineral producel by the ISLAY mine is processed in our

    Animn plant.

    The underground workings have not only confirmed the

    reported drillhole grades, but have as well encountered

    areas where the silver grades increase up to 15 oz.Ag/t.

    With all of the works completed to date, reserves of 256

    thousand tonnes with grades of 0.6% Pb, 1% Zn and 8 oz.

    Ag/t and resources of more than 300 thousand tonnes

    have been estimated.

    The mine is being worked with Mechanized Ascendant

    Cut-and-fill, and the development and deepening of the

    mine with the Rampa Islay with a section of 4.5m x 4m

    SHALCA

    Est ubicada en el distrito de Vichaycocha,

    provincia de Huaral, departamento de Lima. Tieneuna concesin (Claudia 1) de 1,000 hectreas. Enlos alrededores se explora regionalmente 9,360hectreas adicionales, tituladas a favor de CompaaMinera Vichaycocha subsidiaria de VOLCAN.

    La veta Infalible se aloja en un intrusivo subvolcnicoandestico emplazado en el eje de un anticlinal derumbo andino, y que es la prolongacin al Nortede la veta de Santa Rosa. La mineralizacin espolimetlica (zinc, plomo y plata), la ley de zinces alta, promedio 15%, existiendo puntualmente

    leyes superiores a 30% de zinc.

    En el 2008 VOLCAN ha iniciado trabajos deexploracin y de preparacin de la mina, por loque se han rehabilitado 4 niveles subterrneosantiguos donde se ha reconocido la estructura y seest programando realizar nuevos desarrollos delabores subterrneas para explorar la continuidadde la veta tanto en longitud como en profundidad.

    Con la rehabilitacin de labores y toma demuestras sistemticas, se ha cubicado reservas de

    34 mil toneladas con 2.2% Pb, 15%Zn y 3.5oz. Ag/ty ms de 100 mil toneladas de mineral de recursos.Shalca ms la mina Santa Rosa, integradas, podransostener una operacin minera con altas leyesen zinc y podran sumar inicialmente un recursoposiblemente superior al milln de toneladas.

    SHALCA

    located in the district of Vichaycocha, Province of Huaral,

    Department of Lima. It has one concession (Claudia

    1) of 1,000 hectares. In the surrounding areas 9,360 of

    additional hectares are being regionally explored in

    favour of Compaa Minera Vichaycocha, VOLCANssubsidiary.

    The Infallible vein is hosted within an andesitic sub-

    volcanic intrusive located within the axis of an anticline

    with an Andean strike and extending North of the Santa

    Rosa vein. The mineralization is polymetallic (zinc, lead

    and silver), the zinc grade is high, averaging 15%, with

    occasional grades in excess of 30% of zinc.

    In 2008 VOLCAN started exploration and mining

    preparation works, rehabilitating 4 old underground

    levels, where the structure was identified and, is now

    being programmed to carry out new underground

    development galleries to explore the continuity of the

    vein in length and depth as well.

    Rehabilitation works and systematic sampling have

    estimated 34 thousand tonnes of reserves with 2.2% Pb,

    15% Zn and 3.5 oz.Agt and over 100 thousand tonnes ofmineral resources. Shalca and Santa Rosa are integrated;

    therefore, they could support mining operations with

    high grades in zinc and add an initial resource that

    possibly exceeds a million tonnes.
