Now Christ Is Risen

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which

I preached to you, which also you received and in

which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you

hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless

you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all

that which I also received: that Christ died for our

sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was

buried, and that He rose again the third day

according to the Scriptures… (1 Cor. 15:1-4)

Paul Preached the Death, Burial, & Resurrection of Jesus

Now Christ Is Risen

And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and

persuaded both Jews and Greeks. When Silas and Timothy

had come from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit,

and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ. But when

they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook his garments

and said to them, “Your blood be upon your own heads; I am

clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” (Acts 18:4-6)

Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the

Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians,

hearing, believed and were baptized. (Acts 18:8)

Reasoned and Persuaded the Corinthians

Now Christ Is Risen

…He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and

that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He

was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the

greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen

asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the

apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one

born out of due time. (1 Cor. 15:4-8)

Now Christ Is Risen

Paul Exposed False Doctrine about the Resurrection1 Corinthians 15:12-19

IF There Is No Resurrection,

THEN… Christ Is Not Risen (13)

Preaching Is In Vain (14)

Faith Is In Vain (14)

Still In Sin (17)

Dead Have Perished (18)

Hope Is Only in this Life (19)

But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is

not risen.

And if Christ is not risen, then our

preaching is empty and your faith is

also empty.

And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is

empty…

And if Christ is not risen, your faith is

futile; you are still in your sins!

Then also those who have fallen asleep in

Christ have perished.

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the

most pitiable.

Dead Have Perished (18)

Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds. (2 Cor. 12:12)

Christ Is Risen (13)

Preaching Is Not In Vain (14)

Consequences of the Truth of the Resurrection:

Christ Is the Head of the Church!

And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us

who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead

and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far

above all principality and power and might and dominion, and

every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that

which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and

gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is

His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. (Eph. 1:19-23)
