Captain John Alfred is a nineteen (19) year veteran of the Rhode Island State Police and serves as the Captain in charge of Cyber Crimes and the State Fusion Center. Over the span of his career Captain Alfred has been assigned to all barracks across the state. As a uniform trooper he served as a member of the Motor Officer Unit, the Honor Guard Unit and most recently served as the Night Executive Officer. His previous detective assignments include the Major Crimes Unit, member and then Officer in charge of the Computer Crimes Unit and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Officer in Charge of the Auto Theft and Insurance Fraud Unit. Prior to joining the Rhode Island State Police, Captain Alfred served as a Barrington Police Officer for nine (9) years and as a Captain and Company Commander of the 115th Military Police Company in the Rhode Island Army National Guard. Captain Alfred is an Encase certified digital forensic examiner and holds a BA from Providence College, an AS in the Administration of Justice from Roger Williams University, and a Certificate in Graduate Studies in Cyber Security and Intelligence from Salve Regina. Captain Alfred anticipates receiving his MS in Administration of Justice and Homeland Security with a concentration in Cyber Security and Intelligence from Salve Regina University in December 2016.
Simon Cousins is a Principal Specialist at FM Global, specializing in Antivirus, Windows support, eDiscovery and software development. As an SME for his areas of knowledge he creates custom software solutions to protect and manage 6000+ laptops and desktops around the world. As part of a team of (computer) endpoint specialists, Simon’s team manages every aspect of the Windows environment. The team supports and solves problems for business users, developers, database administrators, server, security and data networking teams. Simon is passionate about computers, gadgets and technology and has a specific interest in all things malware and antivirus protection. He has spoken at several events on malware threat protection and triage and trains internal employees on approaches and techniques to address malware. Simon is also the CEO of Noximaze Software Solutions, LLC. This provides Simon an outlet for the ideas he has that help enterprise, IT Pro and home users deal with software automation in the form of unique software utilities.
Molly Donohue Magee, is the Executive Director of the Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance (SENEDIA), a coalition of defense related businesses and organizations focused on preserving, protecting and furthering the interests of the defense and technology industry. The alliance provides tailored information related to the defense and technology industry; informs local, state, and national decision makers on critical issues with proposed solutions; and protects and develops a prepared and educated technology workforce. As the organization’s first executive director, she has helped focus key thrust areas including cybersecurity and undersea technology as well as increasing membership by over 200% and revenue by over 600%. In addition, she initiated SENEDIA’s nationally recognized annual event, Defense Innovation Days. She also serves as the acting Executive Director of the Maritime Cybersecurity Center, a nonprofit organization providing cybersecurity awareness, communities of practice, and workforce development, particularly focused on the maritime environment. She is a member of the Rhode Island Cybersecurity Commission and served as the chair of its Workforce Development Subcommittee. She is also a member of the Rhode Island Science and Technology Council. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Rhode Island, an undergraduate degree in Mathematics.
Chris Jordan, President and CEO, Fluency Corp founded Endeavor Security, a cutting-‐edge, threat detection and analysis company focused on helping enterprises and governments protect their most sensitive networks. Acquired by McAfee in 2009, he then continued with a role as Vice President of Threat Intelligence. Well known for establishing some of the largest Government security operations centers, Chris changed his career to entrepreneur, starting a security services company in 2003 and a research & development company in 2004. Both companies have since been acquired, and with retiring from McAfee in 2012 founded SecurityDo, now Fluency, with longtime friend and coworker Kun Luo.
Mark Lamson, is the Director of Technology at Westerly Public Schools. Mark currently serves as an OSHEAN Board of Director and is past president and Executive Board member of the Rhode Island Society of Technology Educators (RISTE). An early adopter of virtualtization technology, Mark converted Westerly Public Schools to a VMWARE virtual data center in 2008. This “greening” of the data center lead to cost savings through energy conservation, as well as more efficient use of the

data center equipment by providing a 20 to 1 rate of consolidation. Based on his extensive and leading edge experiences with VMWARE, Mark was selected to present at the prestigious VMWAORLD IT conference in 2009 and 2014. He has also frequently been a presenter at RIDE’s Innovation Powered by Technology conference, 2013 – 2015, where he most recently focused on the successes and interest of WHS interns in the IT Program. Mark attended Wake Forest University and has a BA in Philosophy and English, as well as an MA in English
Dr. Doug White is the Chair of the Cybersecurity and Networking program at Roger Williams University. Dr. White has worked in the technology industry since the 1980's and teaches and conducts research in many areas of the cyber arena. He is well published in the Cybersecurity industry and is currently serving on Governor Raimando's Cybersecurity Commission and the CS4RI advisory group. Dr. White is a core member of the Rhode Island Cyberdisruption Team and also occasionally acts as a guest host on Security Weekly. As a side note, C is better than Java, sorry.
