#SELFIE360 is a self portrait video playlist and multimedia instllation.

Each video shows a man turning on the spot in a circle whereby the focus is on his face. The background becomes blurred. The original shot is uploaded and postproduced on Youtube where it is slowed down 8 times and stabilized.

The idea behind SELFIE360 derives from observing the speed of information and the fascination of the young generation of taking self-portraits with their smartphone to any occasion and uploading them directly to social websites. Therefore, the series deals not only with a sort of narcissistic behavior but also with the wish to share personal moments of any kind as well as of taking time for perception. The blurred background only gives a clue to the mood, season and setting but it does not allow the viewer any closer conclusion.

A room or an open space with a table in the middle - on the table are at least 4 Ipads with headphones. As displayed in Apple stores, but this time the multimedia installation works as an sculpture in the Ostrale14 exhibition.

The user can take the Ipad and surf through the SELFIE360 Youtube playlist, select the videos, watch them in full screen mode and share them on social networks.

As at a round table, the users can look at the person in front of or beside them. That doesn’t asure the interaction between them, because all are using the Ipads to watch the Selfie360 selfportrait playlist.

This time a selection of four videos is displayed. 3 of them belonging to the Youtube playlist and one recorded in the Ortrale just before the opening.

For a reduced and more intimate proposal we suggest the use of one tablet with headphones hanging on the wall. Selection of videos and sharing options are also available for the viewer.

A Touchscreen display shows the videos belonging to the Youtube playlist. The viewer can select the videos, which will be projected in full screen mode on the wall. The user can also use the interactive display to share the playlist on social networks.

Oscar Hernández Rodríguez

Multidisciplinary artist video, photography and

multimedia installations.

Born in Madrid in 1981 but raced in Mallorca. In 2009 he moved to

the Canary Islands and got into the Fine Arts

School in Tenerif. In 2012, during his Erasmus

scholarship in Germany he started using

multimedia software, mobile devices, webcams

and video chatting as well as streaming

software. Self-portrait, identity, privacy and the aesthetics introduced by

the Internet of Things (IoT) are his main topics.
