I am doing this lesson with the 7 th graders from 755. (the bilingual class) All the students from that class are immigrants. I think they can relate to Maritcha having to move from her home. Using Google/ The images tool, students will create a timeline of pictures that re-tell the story of Maritcha in their own words. This is a group assignment and you will work in groups of two. You will use your Maritcha book as a guide and your story must be in the same order as the book. The Groups will search online and a put together a collection of images that recreate to Maritcha. After getting an image you will write a caption of the image an explain how it relates to the Maritcha’s timeline. Use the timeline print out handed to you as guide to help you organize your timeline. Once you have collected all the images you need you will create a power point slide show with the captions a pictures to re-tell your story.

Creating a timeline of the book Maritcha using power point and collecting images from the web.

I am doing this lesson with the 7th graders from 755. (the bilingual class) All the students from that class are immigrants. I think they can relate to Maritcha having to move from her home.

Using Google/ The images tool, students will create a timeline of pictures that re-tell the story of Maritcha in their own words.

This is a group assignment and you will work in groups of two.You will use your Maritcha book as a guide and your story must be in the same order as the book.

I will assist nt eh lab with the power point.

A great follow up lesson with this group will be to have the students write vignertes of their own travel to the United States. They can include pictures of their native countries and pictures of them here in the US and do compare and contrast and create a power point slide show or print out the work and create boards to show their timelines.

I will begin this lesson next week so I will be sending pics of the on going progress.
