You may be surprised at how well your child can articulate their current reading situation and how they plan to become better readers! Ideas to get involved in reading! 1. Attend a parent-teacher conference. You’ll discover how your child is doing in reading and other subjects. You may also see books he/she is reading and samples of writing. 2. You may participate in activities such as reading with your child and playing word games. You might also learn about ideas to try at home. The Prince Albert Family Literacy Network, located in the Gateway Mall, offers a drop-in story time every Tuesday from 3:30-4:30, along with many other great family activities. We would also like to thank our school community council, staff and students who all came together to make the Harvest Dinner such a huge success. Public Health Influenza Clinics

Public Health will be starting the “flu shots” on Oct. 31, 2016. Children aged 5-16 have one of the highest rates of influenza infections. The virus can cause fever (often high), headache, body aches, sore throat, cough and tiredness. It can lead to complications such as pneumonia. One of the most effective ways of preventing influenza is by getting a flu shot. These are provided free in Saskatchewan for everyone over the age of 6 months.

A full list of locations and dates for influenza clinics can be found at www.paphr.ca/flu-shots . There will be a Family Fun Flu Fair on Nov. 9 & 10th from 10am – 4pm at the Gateway Mall under the skylight by the food court. Come for your flu shot and check out the activities and information booth.
