Orthodontic Folder and Computerized Cephalometry
Orthodontic Folder and Computerized Cephalometry
OrthoTP
Introduction
The main reason for projecting a new informatics orthodontic folder is a
consequence of new studies carried out by Orthodontic Schools, and to render the
clinical methodology more simple.
Objectives
The projection of the software was based on the correct interpretation of the
analysis to reach the goals of the Treatment Plan. The Orthodontic Folder collects
easy-to-complete and consult schemes of essential data, aided by sophisticated
graphics that the modern informatics systems can supply. The orthodontist can
therefore make use of, in a simple and rapid way, of the consultation to compare
the results achieved. The method is that which is commonly called “Orthodontic
check-up”, and so includes:
The anamnesis in which the useful information declared by the patient or
parent is collected;
The main radiograms of various projections like L-L, A-P, panoramic and
axial, essential for cephalometric analysis;
Facial Photographic exams in different projections and some extra-oral;
Models;
Clinical exams from endo-oral and functional;
Cephalometric analysis, Bolton analysis (from plaster models), Occlusal
analysis, Space analysis.
The application
Below the image represents the structure of the software application known as
OrthoTP® (Orthodontic Treatment Planning produced by AXA srl – Vimercate
Italy). The apparent simplicity with which the application presents itself, hides a
complex structure able to calculate and check the extracted data so as to evaluate
the orthodontic diagnosis, therefore assisting the correct choices of the clinic.
Infact, the program makes use of complex algorithmic obtained from data-
mining, suggesting the biomechanical situations for therapeutic decisions.
