Transcript of Orphan

The production company is the first title that we see. Thisis the first title we see as it is the most important one tothe film, without this production company, the film wouldhave not been created. The text is in capitals as it is signifyingthe importance that the company has to the film. This hasan effect on the audience as it makes the audience befamiliar with the company to see if they have createdother films such as Orphan that they might enjoy.

Three titles are added together as these titles are not asimportant as titles such as the main Hollywood actors names. The titles are very dull and blend into the background whichshows the lack of importance that these titles have to the overallfilm. This has an effect on the audience as it makes the audienceconcentrate more on what is happening behind the titles ratherthan looking at the titles that have no main part in the actionthat is going to be taking place in the film. This links in withthe genre of the film as characters names may not be important, but the characters may be lurking in the background to have a spookyeffect on the film to entertain the audience.

The main actors names are featured on a shot of their own, meaningeach main actor gets their own shot. Both actors names are in whiteand are capitalized. The names are capitalized to highlight the importance of the actors and to show that the actors are going tobe playing an important role within the film. This has an effect onthe audience as it makes the audience feel excited to see familiar actorsthat they know or have watched a film that they have starred in. Thislinks in with the genre of the film as it makes the audience scared tosee which role the actors are going to be playing within the film.

The film title appears very late into the opening sequence, leaving the audience in suspense as they want to know what thefilm is going to be called. The bold red colour stands out inthis shot due to the background images being blue. The colourred connotes danger which could be informing the audiencethat this film is going to contain scenes of danger or death. This has an effect on the audience as it hints to the audiencewhat is going to happen and leaves the audienceexcited to know more about what is going to happen. Thislinks in with the genre of the film as blood and danger aresome of the many conventions of a Psychological Thriller.
