    History of the Realms of the Great Sun Sea-23100 DR until -6500 DR

    30000 DRWar of the Seldarine: Araushnee is cast downinto the Demonweb Pits, where she becomesthe demon-goddess Lolth. The solar Malkizidis branded and thrown down into the NineHells.

    27000 DR

    Continuing their work to undermine dragonrule, the Fey open new gates allowing the firstelves to immigrate to Toril. These primitivegreen elves worship the Faerie gods (not theSeldarine, which were unknown at this time).Although most green elves are content toremain in small scattered tribes, one groupknown as the Ilythiiri negotiates with thedragons and begins to carve out a smallkingdom in the south. The great Ilythiiricapital at Atorrnash remains a shining beacon

    of elf culture for millennia.

    25400 DRFleeing the destruction of the island kingdomof Tintageer on their home world of Faerie, asmall circle of gold elves led by the youngprince Durothil cast a divination to find theirnew home on the world of Toril and thencreate a portal leading there. The refugeesname their new home Faern, the One Land.

    Integrating into the native green elfcommunities, the descendants of the goldelves of Tintageer become known as sunelves, while the descendants of the sole silverelf refugee, Sharlario Moonflower, becomeknown as moon elves.

    25100 DRSharlario Moonflower and his son Cornaithvisit the dark elf city of Atorrnash in the south.Durothil takes a silver dragon mount andbecomes the first dragonrider.

    Durothil is later slain in battle with the redwyrm Mahatnartorian, known to the greenelves as Master of the Mountains.

    25000 DRFirst Rage of Dragons: In a newly built citadelin the northernmost reaches of Toril, the elvescreate the Dracorage mythal . Tied to theappearance of the King-Killer Star, theDracorage mythal incites the Rage ofDragons, a madness driving all dragonkindinto mindless destruction as well as turningthem against their own offspring.

    24500 DRBoth sun and moon elf communities buildgreat cities that rival the magnificence ofancient Atorrnash. The sun elf city of Occidianis heralded as the center of elven music and

    dance, while the moon elf city of Sharlarion isunrivaled as the crossroads of trade andcommerce.

    24000 DR to12000 DRThe great elf civilizations of Faern reach theirpeak during this age. As a result of the elvessuccess against the orcs, dragons, and giants,the other races thrive in safety and begin theslow climb to civilization. During the next

    several millennia, elf civilizations mark timeby the reigns of their rulers. The Elven wordrysar is used to defi ne a span of importanttime or a generation, depending on itscontext. As a time measurement in thiscontext, one Rysar encompasses the reign of aparticular ruler, or coronal.

    settlements of Orlothia and Shaarril in theForest of Orishaar. The collective heads of thethree founding clans, Moonflower, Amarillissand Hawksong, with Angharads blessing selectPrincess Allejandra as the realms first HighQueen. Trade begins almost immediately asrare herbs, timbers fruits and other forestproducts begin flowing north in exchange formuch needed supplies to help establish theShantel Othreien colony.

    -22439 DRQueen Allejandra gives birth to triplets muchto the joy of her people, the princesses,Allessra, Amnestriana and Indyllia reflect theirmothers striking beauty, with milk white skin,azure blue eyes and flaming red hair.

    -22323 DRA mighty hurricane sweeps in from the Sea ofDreams, smashing its way through thesettlements of Orlothia and Shaarril, leaving

    much death and destruction in its wake. Thesurvivors gather at the place where they firstlanded, the Bay of the Argent Moon, andbegin elnraging the trade port Argentaar,renaming it Aelaviir in honour of the High

    Queens consort, the Prince Aelaviir Starsongof Ardeep.

    -22201 DRThe new realm of Orishaar goes intomourning as the queen passes to Arvanaithduring a difficult birth. In her place thequeens eldest daughter, the PrincessAllasshara Moonflower, assumes the throneof her fledgling nation. Prince Aelaviir staysn

    onto advise his daughter, acting as co-ruleruntil she comes of age. After which he spendshis time raising his 5 other children alongsidetheir many relatives.

    -22175 DRPrince Aelaviir and his eldest son, Ordanthor,along with a contingent of servants andknights migrate north to live with his relativesin Shantel Othreier. The Queen afterwardstakes up her majority, marrying her long timecompanion, the Duke Caparissan ofYrchionmanthaar .

    -21999 DRMoon and Green Elf migrants move northestablishing the settlements of Artelforlynnand Harlonbyra. Moving deeper into the rainforests they encounter primitive (sic) tribes ofMoon and Green Elves who speak neithertheir language, nor share many of their beliefsor customs. Through magic the new comerslearn that these isolated clans have lived hereas long as there has been sentient life on theplanet they call Kaalariinth.

    -21886 DRQueen Allasshara is killed when her ship isattacked by a Great Kraken on a voyage north

    to Aryvandaar. Back in Aelaviir, the crownprincess Velnetta Moonflower, takes up her

    mothers mantle becoming the third HighQueen of Orishaar. Her first act is to erect agiant stellae and on it recording the daringdeeds of her ancestors both here and back inTintageer.

    -21763 DRAn outbreak of reptilian beings (Batrachi),pouring up from beneath the mountains tothe west of Aleaviir leads to running battleswith the eastern colonies of Orishaar. TheQueen leads her heavy infantry and archerseast to drive the serpent folk east. Theensuing battle see vast swathes of forestburnt to the ground as the retreating Batrachi

    conduct a scorched earth campaign denyingthe elves a place from which to rain deathupon the serpent folk. In the wake of the fires,the grass prairies of the eastern Shaar, ThePlains of Thunder, and Low Shaardale areformed.

    -21422 DRDriven east by migrating herds of Loxo andfleeing the predations of the few remainingBatrachi, vast prides of Wemics begin preyingon wandering Green and Moon Elf bands asthey hunt along the edges on the grasslands.Leading her troops once again, the warriorqueen, Velnetta Moonflower is captured, slainand eaten by the implacable warriors of theBrightclaw pride. The araegisses of the realm,dowager princess, Theantha Moonflowerbecomes the next High Queen of Orishaar atthe grand age of 768 years.

    21400 DREstablishment of the Green and Moon Elfsettlements of by Thearnytaar by Elvesseeking a simpler life away from themercantile zeal of their southern cousins inOrishaar.

    Establishment of the green elf settlements

    of Eiellr by a mixture of refugees fromIllythiir and an over-crowded Aryvandaar.

    -20900 DRAfter a full and eventful life, Queen TheanthaMoonflower passes onto Arvanaith withoutissue. The three ruling clans choose the nexteldest eligible noble lady, in this case, theteenage princess Bellen Amarilliss, as thenewest High Queen of Orishaar. Her rise topower makes her the most sought after bridesin all the elven realms, as well as marking theascendancy of the Amarilliss clan in theendless game of Orishaaran politics.

    -20850 DRQueen Bellen is courted by an almost endlessnumber of suitors, of which she finds suitable.Her mother the Regent Duchess CarrilngulaAmarilliss of Ardeep, sends her daughternorth in hopes of finding a suitable husbandamongst the notable lords of Ardeep andShantel Othreier. On her way she iskidnapped by a Sun Elf noble who whisks heroff to old Occidian to force her into marriage.

    -20808 DRQueen Bellen returns to Orishaar with herformer captor, now husband and claims herrightful place as High Queen, ousting hermother and alienating many merchant noblesand cousins alike.

    -20645 DRQueen Bellen elevates her husband, OrigathVyshaan to the status of co-ruler as she goesinto retreat while raising her 4 children. LordOrigath rules with a light touch, not wantingto upset the ever circling claimants of theother two royal families.

    Prince Origath is assassinated by ambitiousAmarilliss nobles eager to restore legitimacy

    to the clans claims upon the throne. QueenBellen continues to rule in name only, herchildren being quietly removed andimprisoned, except for the eldest, a sonnamed Argonath Vyshaan, who flees north to

    his kin in Aryvandaar.

    -20323 DRStripped of all power the imprisoned HighQueen is quietly suffocated by members ofher own extended family, who then put hergreat niece, the princess Baerlynn Amarillissupon the throne. Once in power thepreviously pliable young queen arrests hertreacherous cousins and puts them all to

    death, thus establishing her immediatefamilies supremacy as the paramount forcewithin the realm.

    -20290 DRThe feisty and ambitious Queen Baerlynnsends her scouts south expanding her realmsboundaries to make way for the burgeoningpopulation within the citys. She moves hercapital to the newly established mythal city ofMyth Lurue, the city of the Silver Unicorn.

    -20200 DROrishaaran raiders begin flushing out anddriving off isolated Dark and Green Elf clans inthe southern forests and grass lands ofOrishaar. The fleeing elves move into landsclaimed by Illythiir and in many cases arebutchered or enslaved by the xenophobicsouthern elves.

    -20178 DROrishaaran settlers move into the landsformerly occupied by the tribes of unalignedDark and Green Elf clans. Many tribes retreatto the Misty Vale and fight a guerrilla warlasting many generations before they finallybring peace to their lands.

    -20059 DR

    Lord Mantorax Baenre leads Illythiiri troopsnorth into the border areas claimed byOrishaar and begins building a series of watchtowers and border forts stretching from thebadlands of Goruaachar all the way to the

    Plains of Thunder. Numerous isolated clashesbetween Illythiiri troops and Orishaaransettlers occur, but outright war is avoided.

    -20004 DRQueen Baerlynn is murdered by unknownassailants in her own bed chambers and thepalace in Myth Lurue destroyed in a massivemagical implosion thagt leaves little debris.The ensuing investigation points to assassins

    with Illythiiri connections but nothing can beproven. Increased border tensions leads toincreasingly violent confrontations as the newqueen, Everlynda Amarilliss, begins buildingborder citadels of her own. The greatest ofthese new citadels becomes Porathoss, thefortress city guarding the southernapproaches to Orishaar.

    20000 DR

    Orishaar and the southern dark elf nation ofIlythiir begin skirmishes that continue on andoff for the next seven millennia whenOrishaaran troops attack the closest Baenreborder outposts. In the ensuing battlesbecoming known as the New Moon Wars, alarge strip of rainforest is burned outbecoming the no-elfs land, known to bothrealms as The Nek. Many see -saw battlesare fought by both realms as the border areabecomes a hotly contested wastelandpopulated by the restless undead ofunclaimed battles.

    -19430 DRDark Elf refugees fleeing from the oppressiverule of the leaders of Ilythiir creep over theborder into Orishaar. They are then settledmuch further afield, finding sanctuary in thesparsely settled region of northernFhaormista, in the forest of Shilteuvandor.

    18800 DREstablishment of the first elf settlements ofMiyeritar by green and dark elves due topolitical differences with the gold elves of

    Aryvandaar.

    -18507 DRAn unusually bitter winter sees snows fall onnorthern Orishaar for the first time. An influxof white dragons and ice mephitis heralds theopening of a gate to Stygia by some demonworshippers from Athbarlon. After sufferingsevere frosts and crop failure, a famine is onlyaverted when High Magi from Aelaviir destroythe cult and food is shipped in from ShantelOthreier.

    -18356 DRQueen Everlynda sends envoys north toAryvandaar to establish trade relations withtheir up and coming northern neighbour. Theexotic fruits, herbs, fabrics, gems and fursguarentees a ready market. In turn they areoffered favoured trade status by Aryvandaarsminister of trade, one Atherlon Vyshaan, thegrandson of one Origath Vyshaan.

    -18244 DRQueen Everlynda dies suddenly from apreviously unknown plague that sweepsthrough the settled districts of the realms allabout the Sun Sea and Illythiir. The disease,which rots a victims lungs from the inside, kills

    10% of all those living within towns and citieswhilst killing virtually no elves who lead anomadic life style. Such is the devastationamongst the Amarilliss clan, that there are nosuitable candidates to pass the crown onto.The clan nobles crown the next closestclaimant, the High Mage princess CalanthaMoonflower, reluctantly agrees to becomeOrishaars next high queen.

    -18098 DRThree colonial trade fleets set sail fromAelaviir to establish trade cantons and newsettlements in the island chains to the south.

    Over 5000 colonists and 300 ships begin 7new city states amongst the distant SunriseIslands, sending spices, rare fruits and otherexotic items nit found in the north.

    -17781 DRQueen Calantha welcomes Coronal Keltormiras he leads a trade delegation to the realmsaround the Lake of Steam includingThearnytaar , Eiellr , Syrpiir , and visits thecities of Occidia and Attornash to establish atrade and defense treaty with the rulers ofIllythiir. She objects to his overtures to therulers of Illythiir, and warns the Coronal thatthe southern elves are not to be trusted.

    17800 DREstablishment of the great elf settlements ofKeltormir by moon and green elves, seeking

    peace and simple lives away from the strifeof the other elf realms. Many of the colonistsarrive from the Sun Sea region and northernIllythiir, escaping the internal strife plaguingthese nations. High Queen Calantha sendstroops, magi and trades people to help theircousins establish the new realm.

    -17646 DRHigh Magi of Myth Lurue weave greater

    protective magics into their mythal at theurging of their patron deity, Angharad, whosends visions of the coming of a greatcataclysm that will fundamentally change thenature of their world and the people in it.

    Ignoring the lesson learned from thedestruction of Tintageer centuries earlier,they cast a spell of elven High Magic designedto create a glorious elf homeland. On the Dayof Birthing, the magic reaches its apex as the

    spell extends both back and forward in themists of time. Faern, the one land, issundered apart by the unbridled force of theSundering. As a result, hundreds of cities arewashed away, thousands of elves lie dead,and the face of Toril is changed forever. Thename Faern, no longer the One Land, is givento the largest continent. Surrounded by vastexpanses of water, the island of Evermeet,thought to be a piece of Arvandor and abridge between worlds, breaks the surface of

    the Trackless Sea.

    Blessed by the goddess Angharradh, verdantforests and wildlife soon flourish across theisland. Corellon Larethian wards Evermeetagainst Lolth, Malar, and the other powers ofthe anti-Seldarine and entrusts a unique seedto the Fair Folk of the isle. The seed soonsprouts, growing into a miniature treeknownas the Tree of Souls. Over time, the souls ofancient elves who choose to stay on Toril,

    rather than pass on to Arvandor, merge intothe Tree of Souls, slowly augmenting itspower. Prophecies reveal that the Tree ofSouls will someday be planted on Faernwhen the Fair Folk finally return to themainland after a period of exile on the GreenIsle.

    Half of the coastal forest communities ofArdeep, Shantel Othreier and Keltormir aredestroyed and hurled into the sea. The coastalcities of Ardmantor, Ursyllashyr, Silversgate,and Quentallis are completely annihilatedresulting in the deaths of over 500000 Moon,Green, Gold, Star and Dark Elves. Many othercities without mythal protection are severelydamaged with the loss of hundreds ofthousands of lives. Many question the wisdomof the Arselutaar, and more than a few areassassinated in revenge for the mighty artthey have wrought.

    A violent series of earth quakes and a hugetsunami sweeps away the port cities of

    Attornash and Aelaviir, along with countlessother cities, towns and settlements. HighQueen Calantha and most of her court a killedwhen the Queens Crystal Palace explodesdestroying 1/3 of the city of Myth Lurue,

    despite the Magis extra protections.

    Orishaars new High Queen, Yvetth Hawksongdecrees that she will rebuild Aelaviir, makingbetter and grander than before. The survivingIllythiiri retreat south to consolidate theirlosses.

    17500 DRThe independent realms of Thearnytaar,

    Eiellr, and Syrpiir open discussions aboutunifying the elves of the Satyrwood. Secretnegotiations take place within Myth Gaellium.Agents of both Orishaar and Illythiir take vitalinformation back to their respective rulersinforming them of this potential threat totheir imperial ambitions.

    -17190 DRLady Fionolla marries Qu een Yvetths eldestson, Prince Kamalliyn Hawksong of Orishaar,bringing the two realms closer together. Thetwo then travel to Illythiir via swanship toNew Attornash for diplomatic talks with theirlarge southern neighbour. An unlikely allianceof convenience begins to form up as the tworealm work together to destabilise the slowlyforming realm.

    17100 DR to16800 DR

    War of Three LeavesThe unification of the Satyrwood is thwartedby dark elf Ilythiiri spies and assassins, killingtheir leaders and framing opposing heirs,driving the three realms to a multi-front war.Ilythiirs influence is not discovered forcenturies.

    -17100 DRGreen Elf Assassins manage to blow up a HighCouncil meeting within the Nobles Hall inInpriath, Thearyntaars l argest city. The

    murderers are all slain, but magicalinvestigations lead back to a sect of radicalswith connections to the ruling families inSyopiir. In retaliation, Thearyntaars navybegins raiding Syorpiiran coastal settlementsand fishing fleets.

    -17050 DRAn ambassador from Eiellur is murdered onher way to Thearyntaar by Orishaaran agentswho manage to pin the death upon noblesfrom Syorpiir. The rulers of Eiellur react byhiring assassins to remove the Nobleproblem perceived to be festering withinSyorpiir. Panicked into action, The rulers ofSyorpiir mobilse their forces and begin violentattacks on settlements all across easternEiellur. Encouraged by both Illiythiiri andOrishaaran agents, nobles from Thearyntaarand Eiellur unite to punish the Green Elves fortheir perfidy.

    -16998 DRIn an attempt to bring peace to the warringrealms, High Queen Yvetth hosts a peaceconference upon the island of Harnost. Theleaders of Syorpiir and Eiellur are present, butthe Araegisses of Thearyntaar refuses toattend. Sometime during the meeting a skyship baring Thearyntaarii colours ploughs intothe conference hall killing all within, includingthe High Queen and her attendant counsellorsand body guard. In retaliation the Aragissesof Orishaar, declares war upon Thearyntaar,while princess Kitara Hawksong is crownedthe 10 th ruler of the realm.

    -16997 DROrishaaran marines, heavy infantry and eagle

    riders invade Thearyntaar coasts, quickly

    taking the cities of Calaevum and Inpriath.Before long the entire realm is within

    Orishaaran hands. The Moon Elven nobleswelcome their southern cousins with openarms, whilst those of Dark and Green Elvendescent are chased from their positions ofpower. Before long, Thearyntaar becomes the

    first jewel in Orishaars imperial crown.

    -16988 DRBorder raiders from Eiellur continue to harryOrishaaran forces. The ensuing battles last formany months with hundreds of deaths onboth sides. The three way border warscontinue on and off in a sporadic manner forthe next 50 years with little result for any side.

    -16980 DRCoronal Adelindor marries his longtime love,the Lady Arraelle Sablemyst of Thearnytaar.The wedding is attended by nobles from allacross the west and is considered a marriageof great political importance tying as it doesthe realms of Orishaar and Thearyntaar to thefortunes of the realm of Keltormir.

    -16,900 DRNumerous elves abandon the surface realmsof Eiellr and Syorpiir during the War of ThreeLeaves to settle in the Selmal Basin. Thisbegins the elven migrations, which continuefor seven millennia.

    16800 DR

    Coronal Adelindor manages to bring all of thewarring parties together, thrashing out apeace deal between the realms. Orishaaragrees to withdraw its forces fromThearyntaar in return for recognition of itssuzerainty over the realm. Thearnytaar,Eiellr, and Syrpiir remain separate realmsafter the War of Three Leaves ends, thougheach of the three continues skirmishingamong themselves and with Ilythiir forcenturies. There is continued sporadic border

    fighting for centuries after and the dream of aunited realm dies allowing the leaders of

    Illythiir to keep their opponents at odds witheach other and thus weakened.

    -16700 DR

    High Queen Kitara dies of wounds sustainedduring the war, but before passing, she namesher daughter as her rightful heir andsuccessor. Thus Queen Quillieu Hawksongbecomes the 11 th ruler of Orishaar.

    -16621 DRPirates using dragonships begin raidingcoastal shipping and communities all alongthe south and west coasts from the Lake ofSteam to the Dragons Head. Survivors reportcrews made up of Moon, Green, and DarkElves attacking in fleets of up to 30 shipstaking cargos and captives for slaves.

    -16619 DRIn response to increasingly bold and deadlyraids, Coronal Adelindor commissions thebuilding a fleet of fast ocean going clipperships and coastal swanships to tackle thegrowing pirate threat.

    -16614 DRAdmiral Hethrass Shyr leads the Coronalsfleet in a running battle with the pirates ofOrishaar and Illythiir. After several years ofcostly sea warfare, the fleet tracks down andtraps the pirates of the Shining Sea in theirhidden base just 50 miles north-east of the

    city of New Attornash. The siege lasts for 100days, when High Magi from Ketallass unleasha tsunami that wipes out the remnant piratefleet and their nigh impregnable fortress.

    -16423 DRA horde of orcs and gnolls pours out of theMarching Mountains and begins laying siegeto Myth Bellavae and the mountain city ofMir. After 6 months of siege relief forces

    arrive from Ketallass via the Royal Fleet. Theyare joined by a fleet of clippers from Harnost

    who manage to bring off the survivors rightunder the Royal Fleets sails, fleeing south intothe archipelagos of the Sunrise Islands.

    -16422 DRMyth Bellavae falls to the Bolartusk orc horde,but not before most of its inhabitants arerescued by the sudden arrival of swan-skyships from Myth Lurue and Aelaviir toremove the citadels survivors. The citadelthen explodes as the ravaging hoardunleashes the magical traps laid down by thefleeing elves.

    -16421 DRThe siege of Mir is finally lifted as the elvesallies arrive from Illythiir, Orishaar andThearyntaar. In the ensuing battles theinvading army of over 3000000 orcs and gnollsis annilhilated by an army of elves almost aslarge. Not one orc or gnoll in 1000 survivesthe battle of the Bleeding Mountains.The leaders from the four nations pledgelasting friendship and a treaty mutualassistance in times of emergency and war.

    -15550 DRIn a tragic accident, the Coronal and much ofthe royal party in slain when the heart stoneof the newly laid mythal explodes in aconflagration that consumes much of the newcity.

    With the death of the Coronal, the bloodthirsty Araegisses, Tathallas Shyr becomes thenext Coronal of Keltormir and immediatelyorders his southern legions east across theGorlman Straits and into Orishaar to battleIllythiiri forces who have built forts on theeastern side of the straits in an attempt tocontrol trade in the Great Sun Sea.

    Troops from Orishaar and Thearyntaar jointhem in dislodging the Dark Elves from their

    cliff side bastions. The fleeing fleet of Illythiiridrakkars is annihilated with the survivorsscattered far and wide. A fleet of 1000 shipssets sail for Athbarlon to put an end to thepirate plague once and for all.

    -15500 DRAfter a siege lasting nearly 50 years, thebastion city of Athbarlon, in southern Illythiiris flattened by high magic, via Selutaar fromKeltormir, Orishaar and Thearyntaar. ManyDark Elves are allowed to flee the city but thedeep water port, their mighty fleet and theentire city are sunk beneath the waves of theSea of Shadows. Thus ending the pirateplague that has lasted more than 500 years.On her return journey High Queen Amanaersroyal fleet is swamped by a hurricanesweeping out of the Sea of Dreams. Almostthe entire fleet is lost, along with the Queenand her entourage. Crowned in her place is

    her niece, the princess Emellin Moonflower,

    who restores her families fortunes aftermillennia in the political wilderness.

    Sharlario learns that his niece is a prisoner ofthe Vyshaan. Whilst visiting on a diplomatic

    tour of allies, the prince regent leads a raid torescue the Queen, the ensuing battle seesmuch of the Royal Palace in Sharlariondestroyed with the Coronal being killed by theprince regent allowing thus allowing the High

    Queen to escape on the back of a Gray Eaglesent north to bring her home.

    -14527 DRUnseasonal storms again lash the southerncoasts, this time a typhoon and tidal surgeflood many of the communities upon the Lakeof Steam. Relief efforts find wholecommunities washed away. The number ofdeaths in is the tens of thousands with the

    hardest hit realms being Orishaar and Ilythiir.The people of Orishaar gladly accept helpfrom Keltormir and Shantel Othreier whilstthe more secretive elves of Illythiir turn awaythe rescue fleets dispatched to help them.

    -14498 DRHigh Queen Hyoreen rededicates the RoyalPalace and harbour of Aelaviir after they arecompletely rebuilt following the killer stormsthat flattened most of the cities of the realmmany years before. It is another 150 yearsbefore the glittering spires of the new city arecompleted.

    -14327 DRThe surviving members of House Olryth ofMiyeritar after hiding out for many years, areopenly welcomed within Myth Lurue, byQueen Hyoreen, in turn she marries PrinceDaartandath cementing the close tiesbetween the two realms in their opposition tothe naked Vyshaan aggression. This marriagealso mol lifies Ilythiirs rulers somewhatsignalling a new age of uneasy peace and co-operation between the two rival empires.

    yet unsuspicious death of Queen Hyoreen.Her funeral is attended by nobles from all

    -13902 DRHigh Queen Amnesshaa has all the remainingminor members and retainers of House Olrytharrested and deported to Sharlarion wherethey are put through a series of show trialsbefore being publicly executed for treason.This move brings warmer relations betweenthe two realms, and the resumption of opentrade and military co-operation between thetwo allies.

    -13877 DRDespite howls of protest from members of herown advisory council, High Queen Amnesshaamarries the fourth son of House Vyshaan,Falengarth Vyshaan. Immediately the Coronalof Aryvandaar begins flexing his diplomaticmuscle asking for Vyshaan troops to be basedon the island of Harnost. This despite is beingan independent duchy for the last 5500 years.

    -13534 DRCorsairs of Harnost manage to regain theirisland home after 300 years in exile. Themarines and troopers from Aryvandaar are

    allowed to leave peacefully but are forced toleave much of their armour and weaponrybehind. Queen Amnesshaa allows theArydandaarans to re-establish their forwardbase within the royal compound of the palacein Aelaviir.

    -13331 DRHigh Queen Amnesshaa and her husband,High Prince falengarth are killed when theship they are on is lost in a violent hurricanethat smashes the combined fleets ofAryvandaar and Orishaar as they sail west toattack Ilythiir in an aborted surprise invasion.Their youngest daughter, the 13 year oldprincess Kentyshia Amarilliss becomes the 18 th wearer of the Tiara of Angharads Tears, heraunt, Morgaith Starsong acting as regent untilPrincess Kentyshia reaches her majority.

    The Moon WarsDespite repeated efforts to open up theirtrade restrictions, the psions of Syorpiircontinually reject Orishaaran overtures toaccess their markets in Baerglimm. At thesecret urging of her Vyshaan supporters, HighQueen Kentyshia declares war on Syorpiir and

    orders her fleet and its troops to invade, andcapture the port city of Baerglimm. In thebattles that follow much of the forest aroundthe city is destroyed. Alongside Orishaarsown troops a contingent of Vyshaan SunKnights and Battle Magi are stationed withinthe captured rulers citadel.

    Battle of Glen Elythell

    An invading force of Orishaaran heavyinfantry and Vyshaan knights, supported bymercenaries from Ilythiir is decimated as itattempts to cross the fords of Gildalaer. Acombination of Green Elf archery and Druidicelemental magic kills hundreds of the invadersas they make two attempts to cross the riverat two different points. The very river watersrise up to prevent the invading forces fromcrossing into the deeper forest.

    -13155 DR The Orollon Massacre.In another attempt to expand their territorialgains in eastern Syorpiir, an invading force ofGreen Elf archers from southern Orishaar,heavy Moon Elven infantry and Vyshaan SunKnights pushes eastward finally crossing thesouthern fords via specifically constructedbridges and portals. Looting and pillaging asthe go the troopers from Orishaar exactrevenge for the massacre dealt to them manyyears before.

    The invaders are finally stopped at the treevillage of Orollon, where a series of towertrees are dropped upon the invaders who arethen engulfed in magical flames that consumeall mammalian life whilst leaving the forestuntouched. A flight of bronze and emeralddragons ridden by Green Elf spellblades,sweep through dispersing the isolated pocketsof resistance. As the sun rises in the newlycreated Glades of Orollon a red mist fills theair and the only elves visible are Syorpiiranscouts looking for survivors to put to thesword. Back in Baerglimm, not oneOrishaaran soldier in ten returns to tell of thedisaster. Never again does Orishaar seek toexpand its holdings beyond the Plains ofGlimm.

    -12900 DRThe resident contingent of Aryvandaaran SunKnights and their battle magi are recalled toSharlarion as it continues to fight theMiyeritaran resistance in its viscious border

    war. High Queen Kentyshia, bolsters hertroop numbers in both Baerglimm and theoccupational forts of Thearyntaar.

    -12882 DRHigh Queen Kentyshia is assassinated bydisgruntled Moon Elf merchants and Corsairsas they blame her for the empires reversals offortune that has seen merchant fleets fromIllefarn, and Ilythiir dominate the trade routesalong the southern and western seaboards.Her grand-daughter, the Princess Eminent ofthe Corsairs, Omberlaer Amarilliss takes overthe throne from her vilified elder.

    -12674 DRHigh Queen Omberlaer signs a mutualassistance pact with Keltormir and ShantelOthreier against increasing Vyshann claims tothe throne of Orishaar, through their distantconnectios through kinship. The Coronal ofAryvandaar claims suzerainty over the MoonElven nation and demands tribute and thatthe High Queen acknowledge him as herOverlord.

    Wars of the Lunar EclipseSeeking to further their claim to the throne ofOrishaar, Aryvandaar sends a fleet of shipshired in Illefarn, and full of heavy shock troopsand mercinaries to invade the port city ofAelaviir. The fleet is met at the mouth of theGorolan Strait by corsairs and marines fromAelaviir and Harnost. The running battles seesmore than 300 ships sunk and thousands ofeloves burned or drowned. The Vyshaanmercenary fleet retires in disarray but thesurviving corsair ships are in no state topersue them.

    Further south, several hundred Vyshaantroopers, battle magi and spellblades arelanded in secret where they move east toassault the capital, Myth Lurue. Theresubsequent assault destroys the High Queens

    tree palace and kills many hundreds ofresidents before they are finally routed andslain. With the entire royal family slain, theslain quee ns cousin, the leader of the RoyalScouts and Guides, Debreena Hawksong,assumes the throne and immedialty beginsstrengthening her realms defences startingwith rebuilding the fleets of Aelaviir andHarnost.

    -12231 DRThe newly commissioned fleet beginsoperating against Ilythiiri and Aryvandaaranmerchant and war ships as they operate alongthe southern and western seaboards in anattempt to win back control. The coronal ofAryvandaar soon sues for peace due to hismerchant fleets mounting losses, and full andopen trade once again begins flowingbetween the two nations.

    -12157 DRHigh Queen Debreena is killed whilst huntinga clan of green dragons that have moved intothe western woods threatening ships as theyenter the Sun Sea. Her twin sister, the HighPriestess of Angharad, Hallendra Hawksongtakes up her sister s mantle becoming the 21 st High Queen of Orishaar.

    12000 DRRise of the Vyshaantar Empire: After centuriesof fruitless diplomacy, the impatient, graspingrulers of Aryvandaar attack Miyeritar andbegin putting political pressure on ShantelOthreier to join them or suffer the same fate.

    The rulers of Illefarn, Keltormir, ShantelOthreier and Orishaar meet in secret to forman alliance to resist the growing Vyshaanaggression.

    -11803 DRDespite the increasing level of cooperationand trade between the two realms, relationsbetween Aryvandaar and Orishaar on a

    political level are becoming increasinglyfrosty, putting into doubt their mutualsupport treaty sign just 20 years before.Relations are only made worse with thesudden, yet natural death of the High Queen,a vocal supporter of the growing linksbetween the two realms, despite Orishaarsdiplomatic efforts to end the war in Miyeritar.The new High Queen, Araegisses, IlliandreaMoonflower announces a freeze on militaryco-operation between the two nations and

    announces her unconditional support for afree Miyeritar.

    The First Crown War begins.

    11800 DRMiyeritar is militarily occupied and annexedby Aryvandaar, though a number of clans andstrongholds resist and continue to fight. Many

    elves of Illefarn, despite its officially neutralstance, provide secret safe havens forMiyeritari refugees. Nobles from Ardeep sendout the call for volunteers, and thousands ofwarriors take ship from Baerglimm, Harnost,Thearyntaar and Aelaviir and head north tofight for the liberation of Miyeritar. Thisseverely weakens Orishaars southerndefences but with her gaze shiftednorthwards she relies upon the non-agressiontreaty with Ilythiir and the garrison of

    Porathoss to protect her southern borders.

    Establishment of Coryselmal, the Coral City,capital of Aryselmalyr in Sers. Fearing thecoming war, many thousands of Moon, Green,Ghost and Dark Elves make use of the Glass ofSashelass to transform themselves into SeaElves and flee to safety beneath the waves.

    The Second Crown WarBattle flares up yet again in answer to theaggressions of Aryvandaar. Ilythiir rises up andviciously strikes out at any that support thegold elves of the north. Its nearest neighborOrishaar, a major trade partner withAryvandaar, falls swiftly in a brutal surpriseattack.

    Nearly 1 million Dark and Green Elven troops,along with countless goblin and gnoll slaves

    pour north out of the Misty Vale, the GreenElves there turning a blind eye rather than riskdeath or enslavement. The first city to fall isArgentyr with its reduced garrison and mines.The upper city is burned to the ground byDark Elven High Magi riding dominated red,blue and green dragons Elves (using DragonOrbs supplied to them by a mysteriousbenefactor). Survivors flee down through themines and east to Porathoss, but arrive toolate to spare the rest of the realm from the

    flames of war.

    The Battle of the Seven FordsThe vanguard of Ilythiirs army is stoppeddead in its tracks by Orishaaran forces at theSeven Fords crossing, a series of 7 bridges thatsit atop small rocky islets in the middle of the

    raging ........River. With each islaet topped bya stone watch tower , and 50000 Orishaarans

    waiting across the river. Ilythiirs advancedtroops are driven back with staggering losses.

    Forced to regroup the Ilythiiri build their ownbridges, whilst their fleet attempts to pushthrough the Gorlan Straits. With the fleetoccupied the Orishaars army is outflankedand over run with terrible losses of their own.It is not long before the city of Aelaviir isbesieged.

    The Fall of AelaviirAfter a lengthy siege, Aelaviir falls, with thewalls breached, the surviving inhabitants areforced to flee by ship, first to Harnost andthen west to the sheltering woods ofKeltormir. Many refugees of Moon, Greenand Dark Elf stock arrive in Fhaorenhavenhaving fled by ship from the burning port cityof Aelaviir. They are eventually settled inFhaorenhaven and Seluvandaar. Refugees

    from western Orishaar begin pouring acrossthe Gorlan Straits and into Keltormir wherethey receive a warm yet guarded welcome.Most make their way to Mir and the safety ofits now mighty walls.

    -11690 DRWith the fall of Aelaviir, and many Moon andGreen Elves pressed into service, the forces ofIlythiir move east laying siege to Artelforlynn,

    whilst the stubborn resistance of the peopleof Merriath, sees the Ilythiiri High magiunleash a war mythal that erases all trace ofthe city and its people. With the destructionof Meriath, High Queen IlliandreaMoonflower, offers her realms unconditionalsurrender, even as the southern forests ofOrishaar are being burned to the ground toroot out those who choose to defy the queensedict.

    -11689 DRDefiant to the end, Orishaars ArCorselutaarand her remaining followers shunt MythLurue into The Fey Wilds of southern

    Tintageer, thus denying the Dark Elves theirfinal victory. Ever pragmatic, OrishaarsEminent Princess of the Corsairs of Harnost,throws in her lot with Ilythiir so long as theykeep on paying the bills. High QueenIlliandrea Moonflower and her family flee intoexile, travelling north to Shantel Othreier andthence to her familys estates in Ardeep.

    -11670 DRWith the destruction of Orishaars rainforests,localised drought conditions take hold withinthe Sun Sea basin. The local monsoon failsyear after year, as the more temperaterainforests begin to dry out becoming tinderdry and ready to burn. Many Green andMoon Elves flee the forests heading west,north and east, away from the destructionthey know is coming. The 70 years ofcontinuous drought spells disaster for theElven realms of the Great Sun Sea.

    11600 DRThe Ilythiiri destroy Syrpiir by fire takingadvantage of the extremely dry conditions.Green Elf druids manage to lessen the damageto the eastern forests and but turn the wildfires against a large force of Ilythiiri and theirgoblinoid troops. But in the end vast swathesof the forest are destroyed along with thecities of Myth Gaellium, Elinn, andVaerntillath. Fleeing refugees flood across theborder into Eiellur and north into the Sea ofFallen Stars to stay with their relativesbeneath the waves. In the end a vastfirestorm wipes away more than half of theSyorpiiran rainforests, separating that regionfrom its allied neighbours and burning itshomes to the ground.

    -11595 DRMoving north in the wake of the greatfirestorms, Ilythiirs armies are confronted bymuch of Syorpiirs surviving force. Thrown

    back across the river, the Dark Elves finallyforce a crossing using flanking portals andsheer weight of numbers, as the river clogswith the dead goblinoids, the rest cross atoptheir fallen comrades. Retreating to Gildalaerthe surviving Green Elves put up such stiffresistance that the Corselutaar of Ilythiirresort to using another war mythal to destroythe citys heart, leaving an empty clearing ofbare rock where the city once stood.

    -11590 DRMoving more carefullly in light of recentdevastating, unsustainable losses the armiesof Ilythiir begin the campaign season bymoving around the city of Ssrisaragoth, whilstenvoys approach the city attempting tonegotiate an alliance with this northernenclave of Dark Elves. The High Lady ofEilistraee rejects outright the Gaunadhaurworshippers overtures and proceeds to rallyher Songknights on a rise overlooking theGlades of Saragoth.

    The Battle of the Dark Maidens Joy.Confronted by a force of 1500 Heavy DarkElven Songknights, and nearly 15000 Greenand Moon Elf infantry and archers, the forcesof Ilythiir are fought to a standstill within the

    Glades of Saragoth. Retreating back across theriver the Dark Elves and their allies pause for atime to consolidate their gains, and reinforceafter this unforseen setback. This defeatallows the ruling council of Syorpiir time toevacuate the remaining settlements shiftingmost of the population east to Hathoss,Sardelmir and the independent Ghost Elvenrealm of Pellior. The Songknights and theirfollowers choose to remain to guard therefugees escape route.

    11500 DRThearnytaar and Eiellr band together withthe Dark Elves of Ssrisaragoth and declare waron Ilythiir, decrying the Ilythiiris use of fire

    and wanton destruction far more than thepower plays of the northern elves. They fighta holding action within and around the Gladesof Sargoth preventing the Ilythiiri fromadvancing north. The stalled advance of theIlythiiri leads to a leadership change back inthe capital Attornash.

    -11450 DR

    The Sable WarsThearnytaar and Eiellr, with minimalassistance from Keltormir and ShantelOthreier, invade Ilythiir, intent on destroyingor reforming the dark elves before morerealms fall. Supplied by the ever pragmaticCorsairs of Harnost the forces of Thearyntaarand Eiellur advance south, using Harnost as astaging point before invading northernOrishaar, bypassing the ruins of Aelaviir andmassacring the treacherous Green Elves of theMisty Vale as they attempt to make a stand atthe Ford of Rivers Bend. After months ofbattling the occupiers of Orishaar and theirgoblinoid allies, the invading elves ofThearyntaar and Eiellur along with acontingent of marines from Harnost aresurrounded and destroyed by a huge horde ofDemons & Yugoloth and dragons ridden byIlythiiri High Magi at the Third Battle of theNek.

    More than half their forces are decimated bythe corrupt magics of the dark elves whomake use of War Mythals (and other fellweapons and magic), supplied to them byagents of the Vyshaan who continue to usetheIllythiir as a cats paw to further their ownplans for Empire. The evil of the Dark Elvenleadership makes them the perfect bogeymonsters for the Vyshaan leadership.

    11400 DRIn the north the stalemate is finally brokenand Eiellr falls, as the Ilythiiri once again usefire to destroy an enemy and isolate it from

    aid. The Ilythiiri are helped by traitorous greenelves, who believe their acts of appeasementactions can help restore peace.

    The fall of Eiellur is aided in part by traitorousgreen elves who think their appeasementactions can help restore the peace. After eachdefeat at the hands of the dark elves, thesurviving populace is enslaved by the Ilythiiri.In most cases, the enslaved moon elves andgreen elves are absorbed into the general

    population by the genetically dominant darkelves within a generation or two.

    The betrayers of Eiellur are rewarded by theIlythiiri with an untamed, tangled tract of

    jungle on a plateau overlooking the RiverTalar. While few survive the horrors that havebeen previously unleashed in the woodlandsby dark elven sorcerers and still lurk therein, asmall band, reduced to a barbaric way of life,manage to survive with the protection of

    Fenmarel and take to calling themselves theOr- Tel'Quessir or people of the woods. Overtime their feral descendants are joined byescaped Moon Elven and Green Elven slavesfleeing conscription and life on the Ilythiirislave farms, and the population grows.

    Although the Ilythiiri would haveundoubtedly hunted the Misty Vale tribe toextinction eventually, the Descent of theDrow spared the Or-Tel'Quessir from that

    horrific fate.

    The continuation of the Crown Wars (and therecent Sable Wars and the fall of Eiellur) seesa sudden influx of elves entering the InnerSea, forcing elves out into the sea and awayfrom the coastal waters. This migration ignitesthe first major conflicts with merfolk andsahuagin.

    gnolls and goblinoids to lay siege to themountain citadel of Ashtaar. Despite theendless raids upon their clifftop and pueblovillages the residents of Ashta ars manycitadels simply fly away whenever the enemygets too close. After 50 years of cat andmouse raids the forces of Ilythiir finally clearout the last Eagle Riders outpost, but in allthat time they have only ever slain 200 elves.The remainder have long since fled east andsouth with their Gray Eagle friends.

    -11320 DRThe armies of Ilythiir begin looking for thehidden city of Myth Galloaer after increasinglyeffective raids are conducted on Ilythiirisupply lines. Despite using all methods attheir disposal the dark Elves can never bringthe final Eielluran outpost to heal. Aftersuffering heavy losses over many months thegenerals of Ilythiir decide to lay siege to thecity using demons leading a horde of undead.The main armies then advance west, crossingthe Nevarynn River invading the last outpostof their hated enemy, Orishaar.

    End of the Second Crown WarThearnytaar falls to the savage and now

    unrepentant dark elves, who use enslavedmonsters and undead to occupy the thorn-and bramble-choked woods around thenorthern city of Myieiellur. After more thanthree years of siege warfare, the now emptyrealm of Thearyntaar finally is no more as thelast Orishaaran clipper sails out of Inpriathsharbour taking with it the last Moon, Dark,Sun and Green Elf refugees south to a new lifein Orishaars southern colonies. Ilythiir nowoccupies the abandoned port city bringing in

    fresh troops and supplies via the subornedfleets of Harnost and Aelaviir Ilythiiri troops

    then march west across the border intoeastern Keltormir. Skirmishes with the majorrealm of Keltormir begin along its eastern andsouthern expanses.

    With another major migration to the sea afterthe fall of Thearnytar, the sea elves expandmilitarily beyond the Selmal Basin andestablish the kingdoms and regions ofCoranthys, Tor Meraliir, Ullythan Reef, andRyeniir.

    The Dark Disaster

    In the closing days of autumn whilst thenobles of both realms gather in MythAkherynnar to organize a rebellion againsttheir Vyshann overlords, Miyeritar is engulfedin killing storms, which reduce this entireforest and realm into barren wastelands inthree months. While no proof could ever befound, many believe the High Mages ofAryvandaar inflicted the Dark Disaster onMiyeritar. Green, Moon and Dark elf refugeesbegin arriving from the outer colonies of

    Miyeritar, as that realm is destroyed by theVyshaan Empire as they unleash the DarkDisaster.

    10450 DRThe Fourth Crown War: Ilythiirs seething counterattack to avenge Miyeritar sees itsopen use of the corrupt powers of Ghaunadarand other dark, evil gods for the first time.The Fourth Crown War ends with thecataclysmic events of 10000.

    River Guards and Song Knights from the city atthe Terrindor Crossings. The ensuingslaughter of the advancing Sun and MoonElves causes the river to run red for manydays. The forces of Keltormir win the day, butat the cost of much of their strength. PrincessLarassa of Ketallass orders the citysevacuation and the fleet sets sail for theircolonies in the south, taking more than 35000Green, Moon and Dark Elves with it. A followup force of pirates from Orishaar finds the city

    deserted and after sacking it, the sea goingreavers burn the city to the ground.

    10000 DRDescent of the Drow: Corellons magic, asdirected through his priests and High Mages,transforms the dark elves, whether thecorrupt Ilythiiri or others, into the drow.Whether by magic or by the weaknesses thatbanish them from the sunlit lands, all drowretreat within two months passing into theUnderdark.

    Elves are summoned by the Seldarine to thesite that becomes the Elven Court one monthafter the Descent of the Drow, to settledifferences and restore peace among theelves.

    With the sudden collapse of the Ilythiirioffensive and occupation, the PrincessEminent of Harnost leads her fleet back intothe Harnour city of Aelaviir. The remainingIlythiiri forces, mainly elves of mixedparentage, goblinoids, and demonic spawnsuch as cambions and tieflings are soonrouted from the city and scattered across therealm. Within six months of her arrival, HighMage, Princess Eminent, Marash Amarilliss iscrowned the 24 th and last High Queen ofOrishaar.

The forces under CoronalShellorillas command begin rais ing Illythiiricitadels and cities to the ground in retaliation

    for the destruction they have wrought uponthe westrern forests and their people. By thetime they are finished, 11 cities and countlesscastles, mansions and towns are wiped fromthe face of the planet using high magic tosweep away the reminders of dark elventreachery.

    defeat of the Vyshaan and the dissolution ofAryvandaar. Much of the High Forest is

    The Wandering Years of elven colonizationbegin. Many elves begin migrating back to

    Elven Court in its eastern forest. Illefarn andKeltormir are the sole remaining civilizationsto emerge intact from the Crown Wars.Coronal Shellorilla invites many refugees tosettle within the forests of now peacefulOrishaar and Keltormir. Enough migrantsarrive to justify the rebuilding of the city ofSuldanessellar.

    The last High Queen of Orishaar, MarashAmarilliss officially declares the Empire of

    Orishaar no more. The last noble clans andmost of the people migrate west to Evermeet,or north to Illefarn and their ancestral homein the Ardeep Forest.

    The end of the Crown Wars brings the last ofthe great elven migrations into the Inner Sea.

    Geography & Climateof the Northern Lands

    The weather of the Great Sun Sea lands is sub-tropical and humid. While the temperature may fall aslow as 35 F in the winter months, snowfalls are rare. Spring comes in early Mirtul. Springs arrival isheralded by the opening of the mierngras blossoms. These flowery shrubs of violet and gold bloom onceduring the spring and are known as natures waterclocks by the elves. The temperature may reach 80 Fduring the spring. Evening and early morning temperatures rarely drop below 60 F. During earlyEleasius, temperatures can rise to as high as 110 F during these humid months, making full and field-plate armor virtually unheard of. Late Marpenoth heralds the approach of fall. Crops are harvested andstored for the coming winter, and winter crops are planted in late Uktar. The high temperatures rangefrom 80 F to 50. Winter brings heavy rains and slightly colder temperatures. Highs typically range from

    50 F to 65. It can get as cold as 35 F, and on rare occasions, snow descends upon the Reach.

    The lands north of the Great Sun Sea, are a collection of undulating, mountainous forests, intersected byfast running rivers and streams. The summers are hot and sultry, the springs warm and wet, theautumns cool and dry and the winters cold with occasional snow. The highly volcanic nature of theregion has given rise to a vast number of hot springs and geysers dotting the landscape, numerousvolcanic vents both active and dormant are a regular feature, many snow capped most of the yearround, and endless tremors, quakes and landslides that make the area hazardous for the unfortunate orunwary all year round.The terrain is generally steep, and river crossings rare and treacherous. The sword grasses of theThunder plains are razor sharp and prone to tearing to shreds animals with a thin of furless hide. Manyof the mineral springs are highly poisonous but a number of the local birds and smaller reptiles haveadapted to drinking the potent and sulphuric waters.

    The Temperate rain forests depend on the proximity to the ocean to moderate seasonal variations intemperature, creating milder winters and cooler summers than continental-climate areas. Many areasof the forest have summer fogs that keep the forests cool and moist in the hottest months. Coastalmountains increase rainfall on the ocean-facing slopes. The northern Forests stretch from the easternedge of the Marching Mountains, all the way west to the Plains of Thunder. This vast forest of pines andoaks is dark and primordial in nature. Its tall trees and thick foliage block out the sunlight, and a cool,white mist is commonly seen clinging to the ground. The white mist looks like new-fallen snow,especially on the fringes of the forest when the morning light strikes the fog. Mistletoe and otherparasitic plants are common, as are all manner of mushrooms and other fungi.

    Many of the Oaks and pines of the forest tower more than 200 feet above the dank forest floor. Theirwood is immune to disease and highly resistant to lightning and non-magical fire. Many are hollowedout and hide within their mighty trunks secrets of the elves, homes and halls aplenty. Their vastintertwined limbs form a dense canopy that is only broken by the vast yet occasional clearings createdby the death of a forest giant, that allows the forest floor to bloom and saplings to sprout. Someclearings are kept clear by forest elephants who use the mineral springs as wallows and sources of saltsand soothing mud for their insect riven hides. This temperate rainforest blends seamlessly with the sub-tropical rainforests of Orishaar. There is an endless supply of large insects of infinite variety, along with

    a myriad of small birds and reptiles of bright plumage and scales, parrots aplenty can be foundthroughout much of the ancient forest.

    Of the larger creatures, the giant pythons, some measuring 20 meters in lengths are found throughout,as are tribes of reclusive water nagas. The larger mammals include forest buffalos, elephants and elk.While packs of slender yellow wolves and painted dogs abound upon the plains bordering the forests.

    Within the forests large mountain tigers, giant lynx and leopards are found in good numbers and on theplains, vast herds of antelope followed by large prides of lions, centaurs and wemics that follow themcan be found.

    Geography & Climateof the South-Eastern Lands

    The climate the southern lands is tropical, hot and humid for 10 months of the year, with a brief cool,dry winter that occurs when the north is covered in snow. The south really has only three season, TheWet Season, which is hot, sultry with regular thunderstorms every afternoon, and typhoons regularlysweeping in off of the Sea of Shadows and the Sea of Dreams. The summer is a steamy sauna day andnight with temperatures within the forest well above 120 degrees with 90 % humidity. The mountainsare much cooler but still humid, and with rainfall of well over 500 inches a year.

    The Forest is a lush, tropical place, where the temperature rarely falls below 90, even at night. Humidityis high, and insects and plant life abound. The most striking feature of the forest is the trees. Over half of

    the trees in the forest are the fast growing mathiri trees, more commonly known as bluewood. Thewood is actually ivory coloured with faint blue streaks, but, with polishing, it has a deep lustre thatresembles the glow of a polishedgem. All normal tropical animals of the forest can be found here: jaguars, tigers, gorillas, wild boars, andparrots, macaws and other tropical birds. It also supports a large population of carnivorous apes. Theapes are abundant in the northern part of the forest, but can be found elsewhere. Choke creepers andgiant snakes are common and the rhino beetle is also present.

    The deepest heart of the forest is a thick tangles of moss-girt trees, clinging vines, and many tiny rivuletsthat tumble down from knife-sharp, central ridges to carve deep 'breakneck' ravines thickly cloaked inunderbrush. The breaknecks render impossible mounted passage through the forest -- or ground pursuitof anything that can jump long distances or fly. The undergrowth provides ample cover for giant spiders,snakes of astonishing size, and owlbears, wood's rich flora includes many rare, shade-dwelling herbs andfungi that grow larger, richer, and in more profusion than anywhere else in the known Realms. Amongthe ridges at the heart of the forest lie pools whose waters glow faintly with magic. These pools combinethe abilities of a spellward of arcane might [DMG II] with the power to restore charges to immersedmagic items of a charged nature.

    Pool Effects : Non-magical items aren't made magical. Magic items that don't use charges are unaffected,but the fact that they don't use charges will be instantly communicated to any creature touching themduring immersion. At the end of every ten hours of continual or partial immersion of any magic itemthat uses charges, roll 1d6. A result of 1 means no charges have been gained, a result of 6 means tencharges have been gained. For rolls of 2 through 5, the item gains a number of charges matching thenumber rolled. Broken periods of immersion or periods of less than ten hours duration confer nobenefit. A Dusk Pool can 'supercharge' an item to more than its total charge capacity, but in doing so theitem is altered in a way that prevents it from ever again being recharged by that particular pool. At theend of the ten hours in which an item becomes 'supercharged,' the pool expels the item (Dusk Poolsnever expel items under any other circumstances).

    The Great Sun Sea

    The Lake of Steam is a large, enclosed bay of the Shining Sea. The region is extremely volcanic, such thata number of steam vents and fumaroles cause the sea to bubble and smoke along its length. Its islandsare volcanic in origin, and its largest island, Harnost, is an active volcano.

    The Plains of Thunder

    The Plains of Thunder is a vast sea of undulating grasslands dotted with lonely lakes, and isolatedwoodlands hidden amongst the roiling waves of grass and sky that stretches 1500 miles east to west and200 miles north to south. The Thunder Plains are dominated by miles upon miles of thick grassland, andpeopled only by tribes of centaurs, wemics, humans and wandering bands of Green and Dark Elvesallwho are sometimes herdsmen, and at other time, raiders. Yet, strange temples and abandoned shrinesto lost gods dot the lands, and some of the wanderers encountered wield great mystical powers. Mightywinds powerful enough to overturn wagons and lift mounts into the air are common. The eastern plains

    are sparser, less green, it is separated from the west by a ridge known as the Landrise. The easternThunder Plains are free of any major features all the way to the Great Salt Sea. The days are blisteringlyhot and the nights frosty cold, in summer dry heat and dust storms dominate, as do the great steppesfires that rage across hundreds of square miles of grassland consuming everything not well above orbelow ground.

    The Realms of the Three Leav

    Thearyntaar Thearyntaar Thearyntaar is perhaps the most cosmopolitan of the three leaves realms. Populated by a broad mixture ofGreen and Moon Elves with a smattering of other cultural groups. The realm is ruled by the descendants ofSharlarion Moonflower who rebelled against the Durothils tyrannical rule. Whilst there are three recognisablecities, the biggest of which is almost an independent city state, and home to a ruler whom the Green Elves ofthe greater realm only pay lip service too except during times of war and crisis. Much of the population livesin roving bands of Moon, Green, Dark and Ghost Elves who freely move between the three realms, barelyrecognising the artificial borders created by their noble and hide bound cousins. The three major cities rarelyargee or co-operate on anything, their incessant squabbling keeps the realm weak and allows the King and hiscorsairs to operate with impunity. The only time the people of Thearyntaar are likely to work together is iffaced by a deadly external threat or disaster of unholy proportions.

    There is a free flow of trade between the elves of the realm and the clans and tribes of easternKeltormir, and the corsairs rarely raid ships coming from Keltormir, unless they are from one of thenorthern merchant clans. Thearyntaar is most closely allied with and culturally akin to its parent realm,Orishaar. The Orishaarii are perhaps more conservative and warlike than their northern kin, but bothrealms love to trade and explore new lands. The Green, Moon and Dark Elves of the realm are allaffected by this cultural wanderlust and as a result many small colonies have been established allthrough the south seas islands. Thearyntaars greatest rivals are the pirates of Athbarlon who controlmuch of the illicit trade within the Sea of Shadows and regularly attack merchant ships from The Realmsof the Great Sun Sea.

    These twin red coral spires soar 500 above the sea wall found at the eastern end ofthe bay. The eastern tower gives of a flashing red and amber light, telling ships the current stateof waters and winds within the bay.Pellentiaar Palace of the Sun Sea King The royal residence of the Kings and Queens of the realm. Ashining rock crystal and coral palace of glittering, butressed towers, imposing crenellated walls andmighty halls and spires.Local Lore: The city is perched at the very edge of the sea, on all three sides of a wide rocky bay. Thebuildings are fashioned of crystal, coral, living trees or a combination of all three. Mother of pearl andgemstones glitter in precise patterns against the smooth stone, sometimes forming elaborate mosaicsthat cover entire walls and the roofs of paved the walkways. The dominant features of the city are theglittering white and pearl buildings that rise up from the shore, climbing the steep hills surrounding thebay. The tallest buildings are the twins Mariners Towers, and the glittering spires of the various HighMagi Circles and well to do merchants, corsairs and nobles of the city. The harbour is filled with shipsand the shore and harbour side slipways and docks are the largest anywhere within the southern coasts.The safe waters of the Great Sun Sea allow for a greater number of ship and boat builders to operate inthese ideal conditions.

    From this city vast fleets of royally sanctioned pirates and privateers harrass the ocean going merchantsof other realms, even Elven ones. They prefer passive surrender, but are not above using extremeviolence to achieve their ends. Many merchants operating from the city are themselves officiallysanctioned Royal Corsairs, they are known as smugglers, pirates and merchants. The one golden rule

    The Darkantyr Cirlce High Magi are famous for their beautiful works of arts and the towers they growfrom living crystals that can be made to shrink for ease of transportation. More than a few have beenfitted with helms and used for space flight. The other famous group of casters here are the Druid/Magiwho control much of the forests climate through their balanced use of nature and high magic. Bitterlyopposed to the creation of Evermeet, siting it as a gross abuse of power, the Green Wardens used theircollective powers to protect the forests and settlements of the Great Sun Sea by weaving spells that

    connected their realms to the feywild which absorbed the worst of the titanic effects of the spell.

The Life shapers of Lhuve take theliving trees and shrubs to shape them into structures, planting specific vines and leafy bushes andinfluencing them with magic to interweave and create thick "thorn-hedge" living walls and roofs fortheir dwellings. Herbs and edible berry-plants were grown as part of dwellings, small furry forestcreatures were bred and tended as human shepherds tend flocks of beasts, being culled and harvestedwith an eye to constantly improving the quality and quantity of available food.

    The city is dominated by the stately theurglass tree towers that dot the landscape. The entire is amixture of the natural and the magically grown, with much of the city hidden above, within and belowthe trees and natural rock formations that are scattered about the city. Only a few rope bridges andwooden lifts give access to the upper reaches of the city and these are carefully guarded at all times.The few ground dwellings in the city are extremely well built, and in some cases, very well hidden. Someare carved out of the base of colossal oak trees, being careful not to kill the tree in the process. Thesedwellings often lead to small underground chambers that store perishables for the community, or thetreasures of individual clans. These dwellings are for the infirm or the very young. Each tree has beengrown so as to form one or more natural hollows within its trunk at various elevations, and vine ropebridges are threaded through each tightly packed grove to connect the chambers in the heart of eachtree. At ground level, roots, rocks, earth, plants are woven into near impregnable defensivefortifications.

    Eiellur EiellurThe greatest and most culturally diverse of the three northern realms, Eiellur stands as the most chaoticand divided. A realm unified by political expediency and fear, it never the less is the central militarypower keeping the lesser realms in check whilst preventing Orishaar from spreading its imperialambitions northwards. The people owe their existence to the Council of Matriarchs who have safeguarded the realm from enemies both foreign and domestic. The realms strength has come from itscultural diversity, always open to new cultures and new ideas, Eiellur has always been a haven for theexiled, dispossessed and oppressed. It was from here that the idea of unifying the three northernrealms, but a combination of corrupt despotic nobles, and the machinations of Illythiiri rulers afraid ofwhat a unified realm might mean, kept Eiellur from achieving its fullest potential.

    Eiellur was once counted amongst the greatest nations of the tropical south, The architects of the realmwould shape trees into habitable structures and transform many of them into living theurcrystal treetowers, resistant to the rot and flames of natures forces. These homes were connected by bridges andladders high amongst the canopy of the trees. This gave them an outstanding vantage of the woodlandand what went on beneath.

    A perculiar feature of every Eiellurii settlement was the growing and shaping of the Moon and SunTrees. These immense oaks and mahogany tree are immune to disease and the adverse affects of age,

    their interlinked branches spreading twice as wide as the tree is high. The effects of these weavings isthree fold, they gather in at night the rain that falls from the sky to be gathered for storage in vast

    hollow bottle trees, and huge underground cisterns. At the times of the full moon they can be tuned togather liquid moonlight that is used in many magical rituals, and during times of high sun they are usedto gather the suns energy for channeling into magical items and to assist in the casting of high magicrituals. The mightiest trees are also the heart stones of a citys mythal which is constantly rechargedthanks to the energies gathered by the Woven Trees. Each tree weaving is unique as its interwovenlimbs record the history and stories of the people who live beneath its benevolent branches. The tree

    also acts as a calendar for the druids and High Magi who tend it.

    Over time a distinct cultural identity has emerged, and the Eiellurii culture whilst dominated by GreenElves has many distinct Moon, Dark, and Ghost Elven influences and overtones. Their strength lies intheir unity of purpose, to outsiders it seems like directionless chaos, bu the those who live in Eiellur, ithas one mneaning....Freedom!
