Jenny Evans Ms. Gardner English 10H (2) 2 December 2014 Laying Down a Carpet The planes hover overhead, Waiting, anticipating, Watching like a mother Looking after her children. They attend all battles, Cheering on the participants With explosive enthusiasm. They lay down a carpet, Covering the splinters Of annihilated hopes and dreams, That encompasses all. They are unprejudiced, And smother everyone In their breathtaking embrace. They call out into the darkness, Like a beacon of hope, “Accept us with open arms, So that we can take the pain away. Accept us with open arms, So that we can save you all.”
