Welcoming note Program

Dear colleagues, following the annual tradition of assembling peer experts at Freiburg University and let them share their insights on advances in multiple myeloma, we are happy to welcome you all to the 8th Freiburg Myeloma Workshop 2017. Over the last years, substantial advances in the field have steadily improved the outcome of patients suffering from plasma cell dyscrasias. Today´s myeloma doctors, both in the clinics and outpatient offices, face difficulties as the options available add up to a whole variety of valuable treatment strategies, including therapies as diverse as autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantion, antibodies, checkpoint inhibitors and phase I novel agents.

„Multiple Myeloma 2017 - keeping track in a multifaceted landscape of treatment strategies“ is the title of our 2017 meeting. Expert speakers from Boston, London and Turin will share their perspectives on how to conduct individualized and risk-adapted state-of-the-art multiple myeloma treatment. These major talks will be accompanied by additional insights and comments of orthopedists, radiotherapists and hematolo-gists who will illustrate, how interdisciplinary myeloma care is cutting its path to Freiburg and the Black Forest region.

An additional meet-the-professor session will be held on Wednesday, October 25th, 3-5 pm. This session is open to all colleagues, young scientists and students and provides direct interaction with our outstanding external speakers. A “get-together” reception on Wednesday night will contribute to a hopefully inspiring and enjoyable meeting in Germany´s „eco-capital“.

Cordially looking forward to seeing you in October,
