Competition "Robotika" is robot construction

event of the year for technical innovation en-

thusiasts in Latvia, which is organized every

year since 2007 by RTU Robotic’s Club and

Students’ Parliament .

The Baltic Robot Sumo

is challenge cup which

is organized every half

year by one of the three

Baltic States. The Baltic

Robot Sumo Riga cup

will be staged within

the contest "Robotika 2010" .

Competition "Robotika 2010" and "Baltic Robot

Sumo" is a complex of activities with robot

competition as its central and key part. It is

scheduled for the 1st of May in Riga Technical

University, Great Hall, Kalku Street 1 as well as

technical innovation workshops will take place

during the event. The main event of the con-

tests “Robotika 2010” will be robot competi-

tions in two categories – line follower and sumo

robots.

There will be a number of demonstrations be-

tween the matches: Humanoid robots that are

moving robots, which resemble a living being;

MicroMause – one of the most complex types

of robots and the contestant of the next race

discipline, where the robot’s task is to find an

exit in a labyrinth.

After competition will be Robotics forum.

Line follower robots Robots that can follow a black line on a white background are participating in the category

of line follower robots. Their task is following a black line as fast as possible. The parallel sprint is an extension of this discipline, where two line follower robots

compete at speed, by motoring along the black line with both robots starting at the same time.

Sumo robots

Fighting robots participate in the Sumo ro-bot class; their task is to push competing ro-bot out of ring.Robots will be organized in three sub-categories – 3 kg, mini, and the Roomba sumo. 3 kg sumo robot develop-ment is very complex, so mini sumo is of-fered as its alternative. Roomba sumo class participants will be able to express them-selves in programming, by changing the ro-botic vacuum cleaner Roomba into a sumo battle robot.

Technical innovation workshops

It is schedu-led to organi-ze the techni-cal innovation workshops in parallel with the competiti-on, where i n t e r e s t e d

parties will be able learn the basic building and programming skills of electromechani-cal models during the event. In one of the shops, visitors will have the opportunity to build ship models from given materials and determine which ship model is the quickest and has used the most original solution in improvised races. Youth will also be presented with the opportunities of a programmable Lego constructor Mind-Storm.

We invite you to participate!
