Assessment for Environment and Sustainability
(Student Outcome g)
1. Give the title/ name of the seminars/companies that you have attended/visited that hasgreat effect on society and environment. What is the role/contribution of ElectronicsEngineer in this issue? Discuss the effect of this role/contribution to the society andenvironment.
The seminar titled “Cisco and Technologies” was great subject for current issue for me.With the popularity of Internet and the Unified Communications, Electronics Engineeringpractices are always present. The big role of an Electronics Engineer in this issue is thatas a profession strictly one with Science and Technology, ECE has the upperhand on howto engage the trends and innovations in this field. ECEs is expected to be adaptive withthe fast-changing world of Science and Technological field like the ElectronicsCommunications field. ECEs have a great impact on the society- they innovate anddesign new devices and standards that will greatly improve our day to day use ofelectronic devices essential for our ease of living. Take Wifi or Bluetooth for example.ECEs enables the world to embrace the all possible technologies applicable for living lifeto the fullest in more simpler ways for the end users.
2. Propose an appropriate professional engineering solution to address social andenvironmental problems.
Engineers, since the beginning of its conception as a profession, have been on continuousact towards handling environmental and social concerns that arise or may arise whenevernew engineering practice, standard or applications are implemented. For example, engineers on semiconductor industry should have better understanding of the materialscience aspect of their ways on maintaining an appropriate and eco-friendly ICfabrication; so that in that the industry will thrive on years to come because of better yieldin terms of resources availability. On the social issues such as low morale of certaingroup of people on using a certain technological device, engineers should propose andco-think with the right authorities (e.g. physiologists or social analysts) to provide abetter or more convenient ways for the end users to benefit of using it resulting in a goodquality of living whether personal or social.

3. Propose professional engineering solutions in solving societal issues towards sustainabledevelopment.
I think it would be wise as an engineering solution to work on collaborative innovation, integration, and management of corporate social responsibility. With these on action, thewhole engineering community can support great areas in their work field- bringingsupport and desirable outputs in terms of engineering management, research, practice andsocial responsibility.
