    In 2 0 1 2 , more than 3,000 Oregonians at-

tended Conversation Project programs, suchas Why Arent There More Black People in

Oregon: A Hidden History pictured right at

the North Portland Library. One participant

said: The history is more layered and com-

plex than I realized. There is hope.

Nonprofts throughout the state apply to

host Conversation Project programs or ree.

Led by trained public scholars, the programs o er resh insights into critical topics such as

    race, land use, and democracy.

Thank you for helping OregoniansSHARE IDEAS AND THINK CRITICALLY

Each summer, high school students and teachersrom more than 20 schools across the state attend

Idea Lab Summer Institute to explore the pursuit

o happiness and how it shapes our culture. My

whole perspective on what happiness really is and

the concept o being success ul was blown away by

the opinions o others and the lessons given by the

teachers, said one 2012 Idea Lab student.

Thank you for helping OregoniansCONSIDER DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW
