“At a lower level of the hierarchy are to be found deacons, who receive the imposition of hands ‘not unto the priesthood, but unto the ministry.’ For, strengthened by sacramental grace they are dedicated to the People of God, in conjunction with the bishop and his body of priests, in the service of the liturgy, of the Gospel and of works of charity.” (Lumen Gentium # 29).

LITURGY OF THE WORD
First Reading (Read in Spanish) A reading from the Book of Numbers
Now the Lord said to Moses: “Summon the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron the priest, as his assistants. They shall discharge his obligations and those of the whole community before the meeting tent by serving at the Dwelling. They shall have custody of all the furnishings of the meeting tent and discharge the duties of the Israelites in the service of the Dwelling. You shall give the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they have been set aside from among the Israelites as dedicated to me.”
The Word of the Lord Palabra de Dios Thanks be to God Te alabamos, Señor. Responsorial Psalm [Psalm 88: 21-22, 25, 27]
I have chosen David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him. My hand will be with him; my arm will make him strong.
My faithfulness and mercy will be with him: through my name his horn will be exalted.
He shall cry to me, ‘You are my father, my God, the Rock of my salvation!’

Second Reading: Acts 6: 1-7 [Read in English]. A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles Acts 6: 1-7 As the number of disciples continued to grow, the Hellenists complained against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution. So the Twelve called together the community of the disciples and said, “It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to serve at table. Brothers, select from among you seven reputable men, filled with the Spirit and wisdom, whom we shall appoint to this task, whereas we shall devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” The proposal was acceptable to the whole community, so they chose Stephen, a man filled with faith and the Holy Spirit, also Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicholas of Antioch, a convert to Judaism. They presented these men to the apostles who prayed and laid hands on them. The word of God continued to spread, and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly; even a large group of priests were becoming obedient to the faith.

Gospel Acclamation
The Lord sent me to bring Good News to the poor, and freedom to prisoners. (Luke 4: 18-19)
Gospel: Luke 10: 1-9. [Read in English]
The Gospel of the Lord Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ
