Discernment questions, a prayer worksheet and pen are provided to aid the practice of self-examination. You are encouraged to bring forward your written prayer sheet as an offering to place at one of the three altars. Individuals with mobility issues will be asked to raise a hand and a ministry member will come to them. After the service, the prayer sheets will be sealed in an envelope and to complete the offering burned in the Reno garden. March 17, 2019 The Second Sunday of Lent

10:00 Worship Service

Welcome! We are happy you have joined us today for worship. We hope that in the coming hour of quiet, song, prayer, sacred scripture, and communal gathering, you will awaken more fully to God’s presence in your life and the world around us.

Restrooms Restrooms are located down the stairs as you first enter the front doors of the church.

Accessibility We now have an inductive hearing loop for those whose hearing aids have Telecoil (ask your audiologist). Listening devices are also available in the back. For our coffee hour in Chidley Hall, an elevator is located out the doors to the right of the front chancel area and down the hall. Please ask a greeter if you need assistance.

Childcare Children are always welcome in the sanctuary! We appreciate the sounds of little ones among us. If you’d prefer, there are trained caregivers in our a nursery on the floor beneath the sanctuary. Ask a greeter if you need help finding it.

Family Room There is also a comfortable room with water, sofas, chairs, carpet and a video link to the service for when you need more room to attend to your family. It is located just outside the doors to the right of the front chancel area. Children (Stepping Stones) and Youth Church School Classes for children and youth in pre-k through 12th grade for the first week of the month is a combined worship service specifically made for them. We will meet in the Chapel before the start of the service and will return to the sanctuary to take communion with the congregation.

Get connected! Please tell us about yourself and/or request a prayer by filling out a Welcome/Prayer Request Card found in each pew and place it in the offering plate when it passes. We look forward to getting to know you at Coffee Hour, held downstairs immediately following the service.

Thanks and Gratitude! In recent months, several people have stepped up to work on short-term projects on behalf of our church. This kind of volunteerism (with a specific purpose and a finite time period) is often just the right kind of match for folks in our congregation. We are grateful to the following people for agreeing to share their time and expertise to work on these new efforts:

• Solar Panel Project: Green Congregation Taskforce headed by Barry and Jessica McArdle

• Steeple Task Force: Bob McIndoe, Dick Sayre, Dave Weir, Tom Church, Jerry Vaughn, and John Fiske

• Parking: David Peretti, Ben Keeler, and Keith Russell • Safe Church Policy: Jodie Mullane and Cindy Bohne • Emergency Planning: Kathy Mortensen, Bruce Alexander and Nick Wankowicz • Leadership Team Nominating Committee: Will Burhans, Michelle Crawford, Taylor

Tresselt, and Marsha Lamson • Planned Giving: Dina Pradel, Brian Koss, and Tom Roche • Payroll Systems: Carol Weir and Elizabeth Cooper

Our church community is blessed to have such committed and dedicated individuals working towards our purpose of being a Christ-centered, nurturing community, growing in faith, serving in love and welcoming all with joy. We are thankful for all of the energy and momentum that is evident in our church community! If you are interested in learning more about ways to serve FCCW, please reach out to Will Burhans [email protected] (Lead Pastor), Penny Sparrow [email protected] (Moderator), or Sarah Gallop [email protected] (Vice Moderator).
