Confession of Faith The Rev. Tommy Overton 8:00 The Rev. Brent Baker 9:30 The Rev. Tommy Overton 11:00
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. The Apostles' Creed
Hymn No. 164 “O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing” AZMON
Public Confession of Sin
Our God, we praise You that we have been brought out of the kingdom darkness into Your marvelous light. May Your Spirit’s perfect light penetrate into every crevice of our beings, making us more and more into the likeness of our Savior Jesus, in whom there is no darkness. Lord, we lament how the shadows of darkness linger in us causing us to sin, keep-ing us from loving You and one another as we ought. We have often been fooled into thinking that we have overcome a specific sin, only to find that the roots remain deep and strong. Our relationships are filled with stress: grievances are not easily forgotten, love for others does not always come from a joyful and willing heart. We long for purity of heart and mind, of affection and will. We long for Your Spirit to bear in us the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Please grant this to us for Your glory and for the good of Your Church and the world.

We Pray for Our Congregation, the Church, and the World“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings
be made for all people . . . This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

The Greeting of Peace
Minister: And He came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. For through Him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. The peace of the Lord be with you always. Ephesians 2.17-18
People: And also with you.

We Hear and Respond to God's WordMoses came and told the people all the words of the LORD and all the rules.
And all the people answered with one voice and said, “All the words that the LORD has spoken we will do.” Exodus 24.3
The Scripture Reading Acts 13.1-12
Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." 3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. 4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. 5 When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John to assist them. 6 When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they came upon a certain magician, a Jewish false prophet named Bar-Jesus. 7 He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the magician (for that is the meaning of his name) opposed them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. 9 But Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him 10 and said, “You son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and villainy, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord? 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon

you, and you will be blind and unable to see the sun for a time.” Immediately mist and darkness fell upon him, and he went about seeking people to lead him by the hand. 12 Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had occurred, for he was astonished at the teaching of the Lord.

the Vineyard?The Vineyard Community strives to be one community in Body and Spirit through praising the Lord together, eagerly studying God’s Word, growing our love for Him, loving, serving and encouraging one another. Many of the people who attend this class have families with children, ages 0-13 however, we welcome and encourage all who are looking for community to join us! Currently we are studying a variety of topics. Taught by David Gowdey, the class meets in Oak Lawn West at 11:00 am.
