Real Application Clusters (RAC) Overview

• Ultimately Used for High Availability, Hardware Failures and Load Balancing

• Consists of at least 2 instances• Employ service names for workload offloading

• Interconnect - the high-speed, low latency communication link between nodes in a cluster• Clusterware uses cluster synchronization (network

heartbeat) and daemon communication between the clustered nodes

• DB RAC uses for cache fusion (UDP) and inter-process communication (TCP)
