Lot Control Overview

A lot can re$resent a 1uantity o/ an item that shares the same s$eci/ications2 one or more

recei$ts /rom the same vendor2 or 3hatever you choose% "ou can divide each lot into child lots

that can re/lect 3hatever characteristics you choose /or items 3ithin the lot% For e4am$le2 youmay divide a lot o/ items /rom a su$$lier into child lots to re/lect di//erences in 1uality

s$eci/ications% 5hen you allocate stoc6 /or $roduction2 you can allocate s$eci/ic lots to a

$roduction batch based on the $otency2 a0e2 or other item characteristics% Oracle Inventory$rovides com$lete lot number su$$ort /or inventory transactions% "ou can enable lot control

/or s$eci/ic items in your inventory% For items under lot control2 you assi0n lot numbers to each

recei$t2 and therea/ter re/erence the same lots each time you $er/orm material transactions%

This enables you to have ti0ht control over lot controlled items in your inventory%

All o/ the material $roduced in a manu/acturin0 batch may be assi0ned a lot number% For

e4am$le2 you can create a manu/acturin0 batch o/ $enicillin and assi0n it $arent lot number

A)77% "ou can then use $arent lot A)77 to create child lot A)7787) to ma6e $ills2 child lotA)7787, to create emulsion2 and child lot A)77879 to create ca$sules% :ach child lot has the

same in0redients as the ori0inal $arent lot A)772 but they are in a di//erent /ormat%

Child Lots

A child lot is a subdivision o/ a lot that you can use i/ you $roduce a lot over a $eriod o/ time2

but still 3ant to 0rou$ the material as a sin0le lot% ;sin0 a child lot maintains the inte0rity o/

the lot2 but enables you to consume it in mana0eable $ieces% 5hen you $rocess transactions /ormaterial under child lot control2 you enter the child lot as the lot number% The system also

maintains a 0enealo0y relationshi$ bet3een the $arent lot and the child lot%
