Drone Experts Landing At Evergreen Aviation Museum

The first ever Oregon Precision Farming Expo will be held April 2nd and 3rd, 2014, at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon.

Highlights of the event will include a presentation by Yamaha Motor Corp., maker of the RMAX unmanned helicopter currently being tested for spraying wine grapes in California. A panel of drone experts will take questions on the uses of drones for agriculture in Oregon and the EXPO will feature the US debut of Wall-YE, an innovative vineyard-tending robot from France.

Bruce Rasa will present Google Glass and its impact on the future of farming and Stewart Moorehead of John Deere will speak on “Robotics and Automation in Agriculture”.

“The idea is to bring together the people who are developing the technology with regional farmers, policymakers, researchers and industry leaders,” says Jeff Lorton, Director of Economic Development for Yamhill County. “We want to put global tools into the hands of local farmers.”

The Expo will address how automation and robotics can help meet the global need to produce more food and mitigate the effects of worldwide agricultural labor shortages. Other precision agriculture topics that will be covered at the Expo include data management tools, automation and remote sensing.

Attendees will also be able to meet with the manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles and agricultural robots at the farm tech trade show, and they will have the chance to directly engage in round table forums with industry leaders, researchers and policy-makers.

A two-day all-access pass to the expo costs $100 and includes lunches, refreshments and an evening reception. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.PrecisionFarmingExpo.com.
