    1. Basic Information

    1.1 General Instructions

    These instructions are only valid together with the operating manual for tracked pavers of the ABG series and the operating manual for the paving screed mounted on the basicpaver.

    Basic information contained in the operating manual for the paver, such as the serviceand warranty conditions, general safety instructions, using the paver for its intended useas well as instructions for operating the electric and gas heating systems still applyalthough they are not explicitly mentioned in this manual.

    Carefully read and understand this operating manual as well as the information containedin the above mentioned manuals before operating the control panel.

    Disregarding these instructions may lead to damage caused by faulty operationand even accidents.

    1.2 Scope of Supply

    3.2 Functions / Operation

    Thoroughly read and understand this section before operating the machine.

    This will avoid errors and accidents.

    3.2.1 Control Panel, general

    ( 2.1)

    Ensure that:

     – all operating elements are freely accessible,

     – you know the significance of the functions selected when operating the machine,

     – the plastic touch pad on the control panel is not damaged during operation,

     – the plastic touch pad on the control panel is only cleaned with a commerciallyavailable spirit,

     – the ignition is switched off when connecting or disconnecting the power supplycables.

    Procedure for connecting the control panel:

     – Remove the control panel (

    2.1) from the storage compartment on the machine. – Place the control panel ( 2.1) on the support.

      tighten the fastening screw,

      connect the CAN cable to the electrical socket for the CAN power supply 3.1.1)

    and turn the bayonet catch to securely lock it.

     – Switch on the operating voltage.

      Turn the battery master switch to ON and the ignition switch to ON.

    The green LED’s in the operating keys will indicate the operating status.

      ON = LED lights up,

      OFF = LED is extinguished,

      Function selected but not activated = LED flashes.

    Warning and control indicators are located on the LCD screen ( 3.1.2).

     A new message is signalled when the red LED’s flash on the LCD screen ( 3.1.4).

    The LED's extinguish after you have confirmed the message with the Enter key

    ( 3.1.5).

    The background of the LCD screen ( 3.1.2) is permanently illuminated.

    3.2.2 Options

    ( 3.1.3)

    Options are available depending on the machine model.

    In this case, symbols will appear in the slide-in bar on the control panel which deviate fromthe standard range.

    Further information is contained at the end of this chapter.

    3.2.3 Diesel Engine START

    ( 3.1.3)

    Fully acquaint yourself with all functions and return these functions to theneutral position before starting the Diesel engine.

    It is prohibited for persons to be in the danger zone.

    Turn the key in the ignition switch on the maindistributor from the neutral position (1) to theignition position/ON (2).

    It will take approximately 30 sec to boot the

    computer.The main control panel is ready for operationas soon as the standard menu (4) appears onthe LCD screen.

    Press the key „START / STOP“   , to startthe Diesel engine.

    If the Diesel engine does not start, ensure that:

    the emergency STOP buttons (3.2.7) have

    been released and the drive lever (3.2.8) isin the neutral position.

     Alternatively, you can turn the key in theignition switch from the ignition position/ON (2)to the start position (3) and release it when theengine starts.

    3.2.4 Engine Speed Control, increasing / reducing the speed

    ( 3.1.5)

    When starting a cold Diesel engine, let it run warm at a lower speed.

     At temperatures below 10 °C, the warming up phase will take approx. 5 – 10 min.

    Closely observe the instructions contained in the engine manufacturer's handbook.

     After starting the Diesel engine, its speed willautomatically increase to „MIN“.

    Increasing the engine speed:step by step = press the key  F6  „+“.

    maximum = press the key  F7  „MAX“.

    Reducing the engine speed:

    step by step = press the key  F5  „-“.

    minimum = press the key  F4  „MIN“.

    Only operate the paver at the maximum engine

    speed to protect the hydraulic system.
