Today’s Topic
A newly coined term is SaaS, which stands for software as a service. If you are using gmail, then you are using SaaS. There are many all-church database tools for kids check-in, online giving and online communities. There are also tools for online calendars and planning tools, such as Planning Center for worship. What will be your evaluating criteria for purchasing these services? How can you determine the needs of your church and “fit” of the tool, without using the tool for six months?

Congregation Overload
Staff works hard - both paid and unpaid As we grow, “we should do more” As we grow, “we can go deeper” Overload Factors: events, announcements,
disparate processes Overload Solutions: clarity of purpose,
information availability, consistent methods
![Page 19: Operations 102 Communications, Class 5](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022070500/568168b3550346895ddf7fc0/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
Congregation Overload
Clarity of Purpose we exist to... our primary goal is...
Information Availability single source (ChMS) for people, group, event, contribution information “I know where to find it, and I have access” “This is the best information the church has....anywhere” “This information is good and trustworthy”
Consistent Methods pick a way (or two) and stick to it. “Sign up on the website” (Using a form from our ChMS and our online
gateway, then we will organize the data and make sure it gets to the right person)
![Page 20: Operations 102 Communications, Class 5](https://reader035.fdocuments.us/reader035/viewer/2022070500/568168b3550346895ddf7fc0/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
ChMS Quality Standards
Clarity of Purpose We are implementing this so that.... How will you know it was “worth it”
Information Availability Profile Completeness (how many have picture, phone, address, email,
etc.) System Access (profile, login, admin access)
Consistent Methods Across all ministries, across time Eliminate alternatives (around here, we use this system) Consequences for performance (good and bad)
