The lever also enables the operator to fix the tail- stock in a manual mode. The hand wheel enables the operator to push out the tailstock barrel. Reliability and accuracyPURPOSE

SE 520 NUMERIC is the type of the machine tool designed for engineering production in medium and batch series or piece production. It has been designed for precision machiningof either simple or shape-sophisticated plastic and metal work pieces. The machine tool hasalso been applicable as a teaching aid for both secondary schools and universities in the fieldof engineering.The machine tool has been operable in either the manual mode using the electronic wheels or, thanks to the up-to-date control system, in the automatic cycle. This creates new options in both piece and batch production.

Constant output in all modes The high-power, digital-controlled adjustable-speedmotor with constant output of 11 kW assures spindle drive at a maximum of 2600 rev./min.-1. The two-speed belt drive transmits the torque to the spindle.

Spindle revolutionsThe continuous electronic spindlespeed adjustment and feed rateensures constant cutting speedwithin the selected speed step,which responds to the questionhow to achieve superior surfaceand minimize miscellaneous time.

Reliability and accuracycomes out of basis and traditions of UHS machines manufactured in our company for several decades,and it is supplemented by a seriesof up-to-date engineering designs.

Accurately ground slidewaysThe machine tool slideways formpart of the high-rigid cast-ironmonolith. There is the special frictionmaterial film on the bed slide tominimize the SLIP STICK effect,whereby to achieve the high posi-tioning accuracy of the working axes.

Heat-balanced spindleThe spindle has been imbedded in the bearings with oblique contactin the front, and in the double-rowroller bearing NNK in the rear whichprovides high accuracy, rigidity andreliability of the spindle.

Positioning dynamics and accuracy of the working axesTo achieve as maximum dynamicsand accuracy as possible each of the movable axes is equippedwith the actuating mechanism andthe preloaded ball screw ensuringmovable axis operating availabilityto a maximum extent.

TurretIt is possible to install a wide rangeof jigs from the simplest quick-actingchucks (MultifixB, C includingCapto holders) through manuallycontrolled revolving turrets (Algra,Parat) to the automatic control toolhead Sauter which allows for considerable saving of machiningprocess incidental times in toolexchange during the machiningprocess.

Versatility/Complexity

Machine designThe machine design makes pos-sible production of the lathe in various versions within the widerange of accessories to meet theuser’s requirements, which allowsfor optimal possibilities for completemachining of shaft and flange workpieces.

Manual and digital control – the lathe is designed for eithermanual operation (as a manuallyoperated centre lathe) or digitalcontrol according to the work pieceshape and requirement after shorttraining of the operator to achievehigh accuracy and higher produc-tivity repeating.

Clamping systemThe work piece is clamped in the manually-operated jaw chuck.It is possible to equip the machinetool with the integrated pneumaticjaw chuck by SMW Autoblock onthe customer’s demand, which willconsiderably speed up chucking of the work piece.

TurretIt is possible to install a wide range ofjigs from the simplest quick-actingchucks (MultiSuisse B, C including-Capto holders) through manually con-trolled revolving turrets (Algra,Parat) tothe automatic control tool head Sauterwhich allows for considerable saving ofmachining process incidental times intool exchange during the machiningprocess.
